D'Angelo's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
The food was pretty good, especially the spaghetti and meatballs. But, the service was slow and we had to remind our waitress several times to bring various items. We never did get our sparkling water. My husband ordered the Veal Marsala, which underwhelmed him. I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.
Excellent!!!!! The food from beginning to end was fabulous. The service excellent and very well attended. D'Angelo's is a good find. After 10 PM on a Friday night part of the restraunt becomes a disco and you can go work off all the delicious food you just ate.
Saw the ad for this place in America's Cuisine magazine in my hotel room. So we scheduled a business dinner on a Friday evening with someone from Valley Forge, PA, someone from Princeton, NJ, someone from Collingswood, NJ and the reviewer who convinced them to enjoy old school Italian in the city. Some shared apps - stuffed mushrooms, fried calamari, and a two signature salads got the dinner started right. Wonderful service added to the classic dishes including - Lobster Fra Diavlo, stuffed flounder, double cut veal chop, and an Italian NY strip that was big enough for everyone to get a taste. Served with a solid bottle of Chianti at a fair price, this was a great place to meet, and a great meal too!
I took a group of six people for lunch to celebrate a colleague's 30th anniversary. It was wonderful. The staff was terrific and the food was wonderful. We really enjoyed the celebration. They even brought out a plate of dessert items to share! I would highly recommed it.
Came to D'Angelo's on a Friday night to unwind after a long week of classes. We were greeted at the door, coats were checked and we were shown to our table. It is a cozy, but not cramped dining area upstairs. Our server was very nice and helpful, but the service could have been a bit faster. We had the caprese salad and stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and tagliatelle and chicken Florentine, as well as a glass of wine. All of the food was delicious and the portions were generous. All in all, this was a very good restaurant and I woiuld recommend giving them a try if you are in the mood for a nice Italian meal
This was my first time dining at D'Angelo's & I have to say it is the best Italian food I have had in a restaurant. (I am Italian) The pasta is homemade, everything is fresh, not swimming in garlic like a lot of other "Italian" restaurants. Meat was tender, even my very picky husband & daughter loved it. We will definitely be back!
Very nice dinner with family. We had an excellent experience with D'Angelo's. We will definitely dine there again. Service and staff were very professional but warm and inviting which made us feel very comfortable. We would recommend for anyone looking for a place to dine after a show or celebrate a special occasion.
We've always loved Deangelos for classics like chicken, veal or
Steak with their burnt onions, ziti & asparagus, the Milan Salad
& The Special Chopped antipasti.
My wife & I just returned from Rome and were dreaming
About the pasta. Guess what? We were blown away
By Chef's amazing carbonara spaghetti! Not on the menu, but
If your lucky, Bon appetito!
I make a once a year trip to Philly for the PMA show at the Convention Center. Haven't missed D'Angelos in 10 years. We love the food and the whole experience. The broccoli rabe and housemade sausage is a must. The veal chop special is amazing. This is old world Italian food at it's best!
It was OK. But, I was hoping for something a bit more special. I think it could have been better, but the seating was not that comfortable (one of those deals where one side of the table is a booth bench and the other side is real chairs, and there is a table so close that you are sharing the "booth" with the people next to you), our waiter had a lackluster personality, and desert (it was my wife's birthday, which I had told the restaurant ahead of time) was pitiful. The food was OK but not memorable. The only real good part: my son and daughter could find something on the menu they would eat, but that is not a ringing endorsement. I was hoping and trying for more. Too many places to try before going back to D'Angelos (unfortunately).
This restaurant has been around forever and I'd forgotten about it. I ate here about a month ago and was surprised and delighted how delicious it was...so I brought a friend to celebrate his birthday. He is a true gourmet and was skeptical of my choice. Our dinner was excellent and he now says he's a convert to D'Angelo's, too.
I would have loved the food if it was seasoned. I understand that some people are allergic to some seasons, but you have different herbs & spices that could be added to food that would give food a taste. I had the Salmon and pasta (just needed it to have some kind of taste).
The service at the restaurant was excellent.
D'Angelo's is a little off the beaten path to where I would normally go for lunch location wise, but I am so happy I did! The hostess wished me a happy birthday as soon as we arrived and asked our preference for sitting inside or out. The owner also sang me happy birthday, which was great.
We each had the signature D'Angelo's salad, it was so interesting... in a good way (think egg, bacon, shrimp, and an awesome house dressing). I had the lobster ravioli, which was in the most amazing sauce. My guest had the chicken parm and seemed very pleased with it. Dessert included, of course, delicious canolis!
We were very pleased and will both be back in the future.
We had a group of 7 co-workers take advantage of restaurant week lunch menu. All 7 remarked how wonderful the food was both in quantity and taste. Salads, particularly the house special, were excellent, the main dishes of veal parm, chicken parm and lobster ravioli were delicious and the dessert cannoli did not disappoint! It was not overly crowded during our 12:15 reservation so it made for a nice quiet lunch experience. I would not be a bit surprised if some, if not all, of us take a walk there to try the regular lunch or dinner menu in the future.
Living in South Philadelphia and having a tremendous number of Italian restaurants to choose from, it was really pleasant to find a nice Italian place place in Center City that had everything that your looking for in a quality dining experience. A nice ambiance comfortable and relaxed, an excellent waiter ( Vince) and really quality food. We'll definitely be back again.
In town on business, has seen this restaurant featured in America's Cuisine Philadelphia in my hotel room. We were looking for some old world Italian classics and found them here! Broccoli Rabe with fried hot sausage, stuffed mushrooms and a huge plate of caprese Buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad were are shared appetizers. Dinner entrees included the table side filet of dover sole, the biggest veal chop I'd ever seen, and the "fruit of the sea" pasta. Wonderful presentation and even better execution from the kitchen. Delicious meal was followed by three ICE COLD limoncello after-dinner drinks and the perfect way to end this old world Italian meal. Order for all sides of this menu - you will not be disappointed!
As we were celebrating an anniversary, my husband and I shared the steak for two with burned onions. I just love it. The quality of the meat is really good, and it is well prepared. Their wine list is better than average, so we had a lovely dinner. The noise level varies. If there are big groups, it can be pretty noisy, if not, it's fine. Eating outside on a pleasant evening is nice too.
I took my girlfriend for dinner here last Friday night and we both sincerely enjoyed the experience. The staff was very knowledgeable of the wine list and made a delicious recommendation. Plus they were all so attentive (even the "water guy" Roger) and told us up front that they would be willing to make custom orders. The food was delicious and my rigatoni was cooked to absolute al dente perfection! The restaurant is quaint and quiet, just what we were looking for.
I highly recommend this dining experience to anyone looking for great Italian food and the excellent service that comes along with it.
