D'Angelo's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant has a nice, old-style decor. I typically have gone here for their late night hour, where they open up the floor and have a DJ. This visit was the first time we ate here. Their service was a little slow on a Saturday night. We had an Open Table reservation and showed up on-time, but still waited about 20 minutes to be seated after checking in with the hostess. We wished we had been seated upstairs, but due to the crowds, the hostess seated us on the ground level, which is okay but not as nice as the upstairs. The food took a little long to come out, but overall it was good. We could come here again.
We will definitely be back! The food and service were excellent and we returned after our show at Helium Comedy Club to check out the "dance club". The place was jumping and we had a great time. Not a tremendous amount of seating in the bar area but enough for us!
Very nice place, however, we felt rushed. After dinner, we felt like they were really trying to get us out of there. We weren't even offered another glass of water. We thought, because it was restaurant week, that maybe a lot of people were waiting for tables. However, as we were leaving we noticed it was pretty empyy downstairs. No one was even at the bar!
The 6 people in our party all enjoyed the food. The staff was attentive without being annoying. There was no pressure to rush. This is an enjoyable place to have a meal with a group of friends. The D'Angelo's were very nice people.
My family comes hear every New Year's Eve and we are never disappointed!! The service is OUTSTANDING and the food is DELICIOUS - we always struggle with what to order because everything looks and sounds (and tastes) amazing!! This year, we requested to be seated on the lower lever because my grandmother struggles with stairs. The restaurant was so incredibly kind to honor this request and it really meant a lot to all of us - especially to my grandmother! The service is really attentive, fast, efficient, kind, and really really helpful regarding any specific requests!! Thank you, D'Angelo's, for making it yet another special New Year's Eve for me and for my family!! Can't wait to come back next year (and probably many times before next December 31st, too)!!
Appetizers were awful (Bruschetta bread was cold and not tasty although the topping was good, Calamari tasted as if it had been fried earlier then refried - it was dry and tasted like oil, the stuffed mushrooms had no taste and were drowned in sauce), the waiter was rude and trash talking about my kids to another waiter, (which my kids overheard and it kind of spoiled the evening). The restaurant was out of the wine we selected and had a hard time recommending a substitute. The entrees were all okay to good. When we booked the table, we told the restaurant that we were celebrating my son's engagement, but they made no attempt to make the evening festive. No one said congratulations, etc. We left before dessert and coffee as we didn't feel like staying there any longer. We live in the neighborhood, but we don't plan to ever go back.
As a family of 5 We go every Xmas Eve and unformtunately we were seated at the top of the stairs which is right in the path of all of the servers. Normally our seats are in the main dining room upstairs/downstairs. The crash of plates and classes as tables were cleared was a regular occurance during our meal. Felt more like a quick Italian meal at a good restaurant than a traditional Xmas Eve dinner. Food is always awesome but we may try another place for next year to prevent this occurance.
Definitely do not order the Chef's Sampler of pasta. The presentation was awful (looked like something I would throw away); all the pasta tasted the same soaked in the same marina sauce.
Otherwise, the dishes I have had at this neighborhood restaurant have always been very good.
The first impression was great. We waited at the bar for a table to be ready that we reserved, then I ordered the lamb which was burnt that I ordered "Medium" the waiter did not know what Gwertztrameiner wine was after ordering a bottle off the menu... After that it took more than reasonable time to get the food to our table, without the waiter coming to ask if we needed anything or to tell us our food would be up shortly... I proceeded to get my jacket on and use the restroom before the waiter finally came back to the table and asked if everything was okay... We just paid the check and left... I would say that my dates food was better than mine... The service could definitely be better!
I was pleasantly surprised with our first visit at D'angelo's. I found it to be a romantic gem with delicious food and the ambience was exceptional. I particularly was impressed with the owner who made his rounds amongst the tables and then went on to serenade each table!!! I was so impressed and had a fabulous time!
Dined early. Staff were prompt enabling me to attend a program on time after dinner.
Generous portion of excellent Ceasar salad with anchovies.
Very good pasta with crab meat in a white sauce. Enough for a nice lunch the next day.
Good choice for dining before or after cultural events.
Waiter was abrupt and kind of rude. There was almost no one in the restaurant but he got frustrated when we asked him to describe some the dishes and took 20 minutes getting our wine. The busboy threw our leftover away after we asked to have it boxed up. But he gave us a little compensation for it. The food was delicious though and the was romantic.
While visiting Philadelphia we used the OpenTable App to find an Italian restaurant near Rittenhouse Square. The App is easy to use, provided lots of options to dine, and we booked our reservation within minutes. The restaurant was nice, but still prefer Maggianos, which is less expensive and more menu options.
I was celebrating my birthday and wanted to try a place I've haven't been. It was my birthday a Saturday night, and maybe it was just too busy OR a lot going b/c our waiter was just all over the place and wasn't much of a help to us. But what was really bothering and sad, was the older gentleman that I believe to own the restaurant went to everyone table and was interacting with the customers but NOT once did he come to our table, so that was a little bitter sweet. So yes I would recommend, to allow everyone to receive there own experience... maybe one day I'll give it a try again!
