About Angelo Elia Pizza, Wine Bar and Tapas - Oakland Park
We are currently experiencing internet connectivity issues as a result of hurricane Irma. Reservations can be made by contacting the restaurant directly.
Opening Angelo Elia Pizza, Wine Bar and Tapas - Oakland Park was a passion of Chef Angelo Elia for more than eight years. While Casa D'Angelo has been a place for him to showcase his depth of Italian technique, he wanted to create a restaurant that felt more like the simple Italy he visits year after year where ingredients are at the forefront. A place where you could come and sit and pick at food as you want with friends. But it didn't come that easy. Like all things that are simple, careful thought and research has gone into the menu and the guarded sources of our premium ingredients. In the end, D’Angelo is all about friends and a good bottle of wine enjoyed in a contemporary, easy dining atmosphere.

Angelo Elia Pizza, Wine Bar and Tapas - Oakland Park Ratings and Reviews
We love the bakery bar so we wanted to try the restaurant. It was ok. The food was a little bland. Maybe it’s considered rustic or authentic but it was plain to my taste. The sever seemed to be more attentive to “regular” customers that she knew. The dessert was the best part. It was also quite loud. Overall a little overpriced and overrated to me. We’ll be sticking to the bakery bar.
I used to work here and this past weekend when I went was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. Service was terrible and the manager was extremely rude when I tried to introduce myself and explain what was going on. Never came to the table, server never came to the table and our server was the hostess.
Just AWFUL. We go to this restaurant bi-weekly and sometimes more often, but last Saturday night the service was just awful. The server dropped a plate spraying red sauce all over one of our friends. We had to ask three times for the floor and chair to be fully cleaned up after our friend left for the bathroom to clean off his pants, shirt, shoes, jacket and self. Yet while he was away from the table his "replacement" food was served meaning that five of us sat there waiting, then eating, and then watching him eat when he returned to the table. No one ever came over to apologize.
As we discussed the matter further, we finally asked for the manager, who was less than impressive, blaming the restaurant being busy for the lack of apology and slow cleanup (let me say no more in regard to his lack of finesse).
The waiter offered us dessert on the house and when we asked for the cheesecake he took the order but returned several minutes later to say they were out of cheesecake! We said no thanks to anything else, paid the bill, from which they deducted $40, and left. Our four friends said they'd never go back to the restaurant and we, who suggested the place and were actually paying for two of the friends, left embarrassed.
Accidents happen and all we wanted was attention and apology. Obviously bad training and worse management.
With it being Christmas time we attended yesterday & today. Christmas Eve, the staff & food were on point. Tonight Christmas Day, unfortunately our order was VERY LATE as it was forgotten and what’s more we had to tell the staff what a caffè latte was after they gave us the wrong item - we were given a cappuccino We had to tell them that it was a Cappuccino??? Truly.
Completely different experience than the night before. This has been my complaint about this place since forever. There isn’t any consistency. I don’t know why ... have tried it many times over the years. Should have never gone back today ....
Had asked the place to make the meal extra special for my son’s birthday (asked on the reservation; reminded them when I arrived). They first refused to give us the table we requested then begrudgingly have in. The
entire meal was rushed— appetizers and the meal all arrived at the same time (HUGE) pet peeve of mine. I would have simply walked out after the hostess’s attitude but for my son; the worst part is my husband and the kids go to this restaurant once weekly; no restaurant should ever treat one of their regulars this way. I won’t be going back.
I was on the final day of a business trip with my wife in the warm weather of Fort Lauderdale and we took a recommendation from Open Table to visit Angelo’s. The location is pretty central to the beach area. The decor is clean, bright and very contemporary. Service was very good considering it was very busy. The food was amazing. I had the lasagna (great mix of sausage and cheese in the sauce) and my wife had the chicken parmigiana (lightly breaded and the pasta was cooked to a perfect al Dante). The menus has so many great Italian favorites. From pizza to pasta, from minestrone to home-made gelato, it is simple, well prepared and traditional. We will definitely be back for seconds next time we are in town.
2 minor ambiance issues; table very wobbly - they found something to stuff under one of the table legs; white paper “tablecloth” was saturated in 2 areas with oil; when we mentioned it, they brought a new paper, had us help take everything off the table and sloppily put a clean paper over the dirty paper; it did not line up with the table and was all buckled.
We enjoyed angelos very much. Food was delicious. Our waiter was Dijohn. He was so charming with a smile all the time. Could not have been any better!
One criticism I have is that the bread was like a piece of white toast. We enjoy dipping bread in olive oil but not this bread.
Restaurant has a happy atmosphere.
Going to Angelo Elia’ s Pizza is like visiting a friend’s house. The staff is warm and engaging and Susanna is our favorite waitress, as she always greets us with a smile and anticipates our needs. The core menu is delicious, the specials are seasonally inventive, and the chef is accommodating to make other items upon request as long as the ingredients are available., which is great! The interior is sleek and modern and the atmosphere is lively, even on Monday nights when the wines by the bottle are 1/2 price. Save room for the homemade gelato and molten chocolate cake to cap off a wonderful evening. Trust me, you will be back to visit this neighborhood gem!
Very good entrees, try the lasagna. Prices are reasonable. Pictures on OpenTable are representative of the upscale casual setting. Valet parking is an unusual touch on a Sunday, when I could have gotten my own car faster. The restaurant was busy at 6 p.m. on a Sunday, so they're doing a lot right. I'll try the pizza at my next visit.
We've eaten here many times, but the special, veal scallopini on Friday night was disappointing for two of us. Very tough and pounded paper thin. Maybe grilled veal is not a good choice.
The pasta is always good and the service is excellent.
