This place is worth the drive!! We did their Tasting Tuesday that was incredible! It was a 4 course meal that was beautiful, but tasted fabulous as well! The portions were perfect and they even had a vegetarian option that was so good!!! They even printed it out for me (I'm the vegetarian) so that I could see what I was being served! The inside is warm, inviting and modern like barn atmosphere. The deck looked very pretty as well and you can't beat the gazebo, surrounding woods as well as the big fire pit outside. Highly recommend for couples or to celebrate a special occasion!! Worth the drive, the reservations and money!

The Appalachian Lunchable appetizer was absolutely delicious!! Our servers we’re knowledgeable about the food and drink menu and they were attentive but not overbearing. My husband had the trout which was delicious and the pork cushion I ordered was fabulous! Finishing off our evening with old fashioneds in the big leather chairs by the fire place was wonderful. The restaurant is pricy, but we felt the food was well worth it. Portion sizes are reasonable and it’s nice to leave a restaurant feeling satisfied and not stuffed!!

We are not very adventurous diners. We felt the server was almost scolding us for questioning the idea of certain ingredients in the listed menu items or even asking for said ingredients to be left out. Were told to trust the chef. We did mention our love of the rolls and butter, the server perkily saying she’ll bring more. We never saw more. We expected to pay top price for the entree’s based on reviews and the restaurant website, but the desserts were easily the most overpriced items of anything we spent in our week’s vacation to the Smoky Mountains area.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the service, people, ambiance and food. We are a farm to table restaurant where everything is carefully cooked by hand - therefore at time the wait may be longer than anticipated especially during peak dining hours. Our dining experience is meant to be enjoyed at a leisure pace, but if you have a time restraint our dining room team will do their best to accommodate within reason if informed. Thank you for joining us and we hope to see you again soon.

Outdoor seating was impeccable; the rustic yet beautifully designed pavilion provided not only a romantic atmosphere but allowed the chance to enjoy Gods creation of trees, plants, and surrounding beauty. All staff were pleasant and we never felt rushed due to the serving time of hors d’oeuvres, drinks, dinner and desert . The quality of food was excellent, however depending on the entrée you may not get your money’s worth such as the Elk Chop, however the Trout dish left me completely satisfied. It’s a great place to spoil someone special in your life but be prepared to bring your wallet :)

We have been dining at Dancing Bear for years and are local to the area. Our last 3 experiences have consistently been disappointing. The food portions from appetizers to entrees have become noticeably smaller, and they have been out of some drinks on the menu 2 out of the last 3 visits. Last night, we were seated facing the restroom and my husband had a clear view into the women’s bathroom each time the door opened. Unappetizing to say the least. My seat was wet as it sat under a vent that was dripping condensation onto our table and my chair. When we spend $200 on a meal for 2, we expect better. Also, our table for 2 was crammed up next to a wall that barely had room for our food and no room to move our elbows. We overheard one of the managers, I suppose, tell another couple across the way that they got the best seat in the house. I guess that means we got the worst. The food is always good, but for the amount of money, there are other excellent fine dining restaurants in the area that we will be dining at from now on. It makes me sad that Dancing Bear has changed as I always used to look forward to our nights out and celebrations there.

The outdoor dining area is beautiful. We went for our anniversary dinner and loved the cheese board and the butternut squash soup. The server was very pleasant. The problem came in our entrees, which were both oddly lukewarm, event though they came out fairly quickly after ordering. So we weren't sure how the meals could have been prepared and then have time to cool down so much in that time. It really put a damper on the entire meal that our entrees were not hot or even warm. They said something about a gas problem and the food being prepared in a food truck or something like that, but it didn't matter. We've been out 1 time in 6 months for a dinner and this was a fine experience except for the main courses, which is really the main reason you go out to dine. The dessert was delicious, but overall our impression was "why were our entrees not hot?" as we pulled away from the restaurant.

Thank you for the review and for joining us for dinner. We did experience a kitchen malfunction just before dinner started the night of your visit, leaving our team to utilize a food truck that we own - as you can imagine, it's extremely difficult to prepare an entire restaurant of covers food in a small food truck. We did our best but ultimately we missed the mark. Please let us make it right by emailing Ashley@dancingbearlodge Thank you and have a great day!

This is the third time we have dined at Appalachia Bistro. I challenge you to find a restaurant in the Smokys that offers better ambiance, cuisine, and service. Was there with a party of 9. Really neat place to go. However, everyone's food was good except mine, thus the review. Beef tenderloin was like rubber, impossible to chew. Another person tried mine and agreed. They brought me another one and it also bounced around on my plate. I was just the unlucky one. Other people had it and theirs looked normal. Restaurant did give me a reduction in the price. Two people had drinks from the bar that were horrible and they didn't drink them, but did not send them back.
Because the ambience is so great, I would try it again and would order something else.

It was nice. I think we were expecting a little better food and service but it was still very nice. They over cooked the fish and under seasoned it, they forgot to finish my wife’s salad and the service was just ok we kept running out of water. They didn’t explain the dish or wine and they kept bringing them at odd timing. at nice restaurants especially during tasting menus they normally explain everything and it’s more of an experience. Everything was good nothing bad, for the money I was just expecting more, it’s about $120/person with drinks. I’d go back to give them another try, it’s “country chic” I guess, if it was a $50/person place it be 5 stars but when your dropping $250 for a nice dinner with your wife I expect a lot more.
