Absolutely love this gem on the quiet side of the Smokies. Look forward to going back later in the winter.
The food was excellent. Server was very helpful. Beautiful place. The fire pit with smores was a nice touch💓
The food and the ambience work great!
Me and my husband had been to the Dancing Bear lodge for my friends wedding which was absolutely beautiful and we wanted to try it out again. This time we took two of our closet friends and it was her birthday. Our waiter Channing was so knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. At the end of our meal he got all of the staff to sign a card for our friend for her birthday and took the time to take a picture for us . I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Yes. And Channing our server was excellent....food was terrific
Our first time visiting Dancing Bear for dinner. It was wonderful! The ambiance was cozy and relaxing with a chill in the air outside and the fireplace and fire pit glowing and crackling. Inside the restaurant was elegant yet rustic with candles all around. The bartender was super friendly and made the best top shelf margaritas! We were promptly seated followed by outstanding food and service. Will definitely visit again!
We went to the Dancing Bear to celebrate our 34th anniversary. The food was excellent and the server and all other staff were very attentive and friendly. There were a few delays in getting our drinks and dessert, but overall it was a wonderful meal and great experience.
After several visits we are still surprised by the hospitality and great food. Off the beaten path but so worth the trip. We look forward to many more visits.
We love this place. The food is always amazing. We love to sit outside and listen to the fire.
I travel internationally several times a year and I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I have had anywhere. The Appalachian Lunchables plate was extraordinary in its simplicity and in how well it took traditional items (pickled shrimp, vegetables, biscuits) and elevated them to the best of what they could be. The carrot and beet salad was excellent and the pumpkin soup with scallop and pork belly was phenomenal. Delightful service and an extensive wine and whiskey/bourbon list as well.
Great food and atmosphere. We had the brunch buffet, it was pretty expensive and coffee wasn't included in the price. Ended up being $40 a person without tip. I'd recommend skipping breakfast so you have an appetite to eat.
Relaxed, excellent meal in a beautiful setting! The chef has never disappointed us
in the seasonal courses offered. We brought friends and they loved it.
What a great venue and food experience, although service was off. Either the waiter had more tables than could handle, was distracted, or needed additional training that tarnished the over all experience.
We really enjoyed our night at the AB and Brittany was an excellent waitress for us. Will definitely go next time we are in town.
Delicious and creative food. The chef is very accommodating and is happy to modify dishes on the menu if you have dietary restrictions. There are several new items each day, everything is super fresh and perfectly prepared. The Appalachian Hot Pot is superb (even without the Andouille sausage) - highly recommended!
This was our first time at Dancing Bear. We'll be back! It was very quiet and enjoyable. The food was above average. The servers were very friendly. We enjoyed the Mimosa/Bloody Mary bar. Beautiful setting.
Very pleasant dining experience from food to service to ambiance!
We came to celebrate our getting married that weekend before. Perfect choice! Food was delicious, recommendations by server on point. Never had a tenderloin cooked medium before that was so tender you could use your fork and STILL be the most delicious thing. Best steak and scallops we’ve ever had. Will make this our celebratory restaurant every year
Great food and good ambiance, but terrible service.
Great service! Well stocked buffet. Nice fish selections and value if you like fish. Otherwise a bit expensive.
Had friends in from out of town and wanted them to experience this wonderful atmosphere and food. Lovely as usual. Our waiter was attentive and Shelly created an amazing delicious meal.
This is our second visit, and both times we have thoroughly enjoyed the food & service! Excellent meals & atmosphere.
We always enjoy the food, service and atmosphere at the Dancing Bear. This visit was no exception.
Food was fantastic. Try the Mushroom Toast appertizer. Service however was terrible. I guess our server was pulled to co-work a private party and we saw her only every 15 minutes or so. Entree got delayed with a terrible excuse. However, when the entree finally showed up it was fantastic.
It's only been 2 days since we were there and I want to go back NOW! Best dinner I've ever had. Bacon wrapped diver scallops and a Baby beet salad. Hubby had the Fall Salad and a crusted Halibut. Luscious!
Gem of a restaurant in Townsend, TN. The restaurant itself was warm and attractive. Food was unique and modern. They grow most of their own produce and the salads were fresh and delicious. The chief used herbs in a manner that made the flavors of the food interesting. We also had the burger and again, a unique flair. My French press coffee was outstanding. Our server was awesome. Helpful and friendly. This restaurant is a step above the rather ordinary food that one usually gets in this area. I do recommend this restaurant.
The food was ok but definitely not worth the high price.
The brunch was nice, very relaxing ambiance. I would not say it was worth the cost only because of the food. Although the food was delicious, there were not many choices. There were no typical breakfast foods. If you are a picky eater, I would not recommend this place to you. Also, on the brunch page it says bottomless mimosas, but that is no longer the case. We were charged per drink.
I wish the beer selection was more extensive. Kronenbourg 1664 blanc is a suggestion.
Thank you Lila for great service. The food was delicious!
Wonderful service & food
Great fall evening at Dancing Bear for dinner with visiting relatives. Our meals were excellent and the overall experience was super.
We chose this as our special treat as it was our last night in The Smoky Mountains. We were not disappointed. We arrived early before they opened. The staff was super accomodating and let us enjoy a glass (or two) of fabulous wine until the restaurant opened. Everything was outstanding. We highly recommend!
We were promptly seated and then just sat there. Other tables were seated and their server came to their table. My wife had to get up and go ask twice for them to send a server. When he did show up it seems the hostess failed to tell anyone. Once we got started everything was great. it appears they have a high turnover of waitstaff as we heard several saying they were new or working with others. I don't know that I fault the restaurant as this is becoming a large issue at many of the area, just be prepared that it may not be the service level you would expect from a place like this. Overall the food was great and the service was good.
Probably very good for a food critic, but just not for me.
It is well worth the 30 minute scenic drive from Pigeon Forge to dine at The Dancing Bear. Upon arrival you know that it is going to be something special. First of all the architect, builder and designer all deserve awards because it looks as if there restaurant was always meant to be there, it is extremely welcoming when you walk in the door. As a builder of high end lake homes for years, it takes craftsmanship to impress me.
So on to dinner. The staff very professional, our server even brought us an extra appetizer to sample and the menu choices all looked delicious. Wine choices were very good. I had the Appalachian Hot Pot which was excellent. My trout was perfect and few people get it perfect. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meal. After dinner we walked out to a large pavilion that is a perfect wedding venue and cooked smores around a stone fire pit.
I've dined extensively around the US and Europe. Dancing Bear is high in my list.
Best meal I’ve had in the smokies
Rachel was an excellent server. The owners were entertaining as well!
I brought my boyfriend there for his birthday. I think it was one of his favorite gifts. We sat outside under the lights, the service and food was great. My favorites were the Appalachian lunchable and the pumpkin spice bread pudding, but we loved everything. We will definitely be back.
Perhaps the greatest bistro in Tennessee
