The food is fabulous! I always order the filet of sole and my husband got the ribeye steak which he said was very good. Our friends had the filet mignon and the sole as well. It was very quiet because of the virus so we got special attention from our waiter.
This is a wonderful staple for my wife and I to get away and have a nice meal.
We had a 7pm dinner reservation for five. They ran out of half the items we wanted to order. My salad came with the wrong cheese topper (which they had to remake). Then two of our guest ordered the salmon and both came to the table under cooked. They both had to go back, the cook put the same portions back on the grill and the waitress served us the same salmon portions just reheated. It was a very disappointing evening!
Good week night dinner place with family or friends. Nice atmosphere and easy to have a conversation.
Service was slow and lackluster. Restaurant was hot - all 5 of us were uncomfortable - no one checked on us. Food was not good. This was probably our 20th gist - we won’t go back
Absolutely would recommend. The Food and Service was terrific. Valentines Day Dinner .
Not your 'usual fare' or prepared meal...The meal was special.
We dined on Valentine's day. The tables were way too close. While the pre fix options were reasonable (for a holiday) we prefer the regular menu. The service was very good, but it took a long time to receive our entrees. The tomato bisque soup was excellent. The lobster that accompanied the surf and turf was not the best, and 2 oz at best. The air conditioning was blowing right on our table, so it was a bit chilly. We will return, but not on a holiday.
Great service, delicious food - always a pleasure to dine at Dana’s.
The ravioli with Meyer lemon sauce was fantastic! And our server was very nice and attentive. Thanks for a great evening.
Great Manhattan cocktail but food was below average. Under seasoned and lacking in flavor. Very fatty rib eye and runny Mac n cheese.
The meal was delicious and our waitress was great!
The friendly and warm atmosphere makes it a great location for special occasions. The bartender, Trinie, went out of her way to greet us and make us feel welcome while we were waiting for our table. All around great staff! The food was quick to our table and outstanding! You can't go wrong at Dana's.
Very bad experience. It started with and mater d telling us we did not have a reservation. When I showed him the confirmation email on my phone He indicated there was nothing he could do and then put us in the very corner of the bar area. Hilario, our server was great. The steak that I ordered was very overcooked but since I was also having lobster I didn’t want to take the extra time and let lobster cool off. Lobster was very good. So other than our service it was a very negative experience. Even though the restaurant is in a great location and very close to our home, Dana’s won’t be seeing us again for a long time
I've been to Dana's three times now, twice for lunch. Their dinner entree meats are cooked unusually tender and tasteful, by itself a five star rating. However, at our last lunch their two days ago their "roasted beet salad" was a huge disappointment. There was nothing different about those beets, not cooked or roasted, and the size of the salad, including its ingredients, did not warrant $12. It was mostly shredded lettuce, and not much of it. Given the sparsity of our meals, it seemed inconsiderate that we had to ask for bread and butter.
Unfortunately had a bad experience at Dana's. They said the cook and prep person called in sick. They knew there were issues but at the end of the night they served poor food that took way too long. We let the server know but although he provided as good service as he could, he should have made the situation right as we told him the food was unacceptable. We passed on desert and coffee as we had enough and it was already a bit late due to the long wait for the main courses. Not sure if i would go back as I just blew a lot of money and disappointed a guest. This was not the first time i have been to Dana's.
Disappointed in Dana’s. Food was mediocre, at best. Ribeye bland and flavorless. Salmon was slightly better than steak. Would not go back. Better options in same complex
I know a restaurant cannot control its clientele, but the evening we were there, a large group (about 12) was extremely noisy and kept us from having a unified conversation (we were six) until they left. We were disappointed as at our last group dinner at Metro in Lafayette, the noise level was terrible, and we finally asked to move to another room for our dessert. (That time there was a noisy group of about ten women.) We do not want to stay home, but this gregarious behavior in a public place is inappropriate. Otherwise, I would go to the restaurant again.
The food was excellent it our server was not on task. We had to ask for everything. It it was my first visit to Dana’s I would not come back.
First, I wish Open Table reviews would publish with the paragraph separation as I originally wrote. But when I looked, all the text was smooshed together in one very long paragraph, so I've edited and inserted " *** " where a new paragraph should begin. Now on to the review of Dana's.
I've enjoyed many meals at Dana's in the past, and in the past would have given them at least a 4 star review overall. I'll still recommend Dana's to friends, with a few caveats based on our recent dining experience on Sunday, Jan 12, 2020.
We chose seats close to the open kitchen because it was warmer there, but that was a mistake. Beyond normal kitchen level noise that we've heard in the past, people working in the kitchen were talking VERY loudly, and there was a lot of banging of pots and/or pans, as well as dishes. It was loud to the extent that I needed to stand up and look at the people in the kitchen with the hopes of their noticing that we were sitting right there, and afterward the noise level moderated a bit.
If we go again on a Sunday night, we will be sure to make a reservation closer to 7:00. Perhaps Dana's should not accept reservations at 7:45, as ours was accepted for that time. It was only when we received a later confirmation call were we told that the kitchen closes at 8:00. Realizing this, we ate our meals quickly and did not linger. But apparently the staff was eager to go elsewhere that night, because as we were waiting quite a while for our check, they turned off the lights in the dining area and we were sitting there in the dark until we called out. Our server apologized and turned some lights back on again in our area and provided us with our check.
As I said at the beginning of this review, I'll still recommend Dana's to friends, with the few caveats noted above.
Very good food. A bit noisy
As always it was awesome.
Food was terrific, cocktails delicious and the service excellent. The decor could use a bit of a boost but otherwise it was an excellent restaurant.
My girlfriend and i had lunch at Dana's and I would say it was a nice lunch. The service was good and the meal was quite tasty. My girlfriend had the hamburger which she enjoyed and I had the clam chowder and a caesar salad that was also tasty. We decided after lunch to have a cup of hot tea. The server to brought us our hot water and a selection of teas. We finished our tea and asked for the bill. When the bill came, they charged us $10.00 for 2 cups of tea!! We were not happy and should have said something. But, we were both shocked and couldn't believe it. The tea was terrible, no flavor. I have dined at many very expensive restaurants and I don't think I ever paid $5.00 for a tea bag. Shame on them! It really was a disappointment.
We dine at Dana's from time to time and we always appreciate the excellent food and cozy atmosphere. The use of tall upholstered booths and table linens help keep the noise level on the quieter side, even when the restaurant is full, which is really nice. We ordered the lemon ravioli for the table to share as an appetizer (it's normally an entree). So good! Everyone in our party was happy with their entree. DH had the scallops which he said were perfectly cooked, I got the sole, DD got the Eggplant and DS got the King Salmon. The service was warm and competent. The bus person gets kudos for being very attentive with refilling our waters.
As always, the food and service were outstanding! We had our meal in relatively short amount of time.
Went this past New Year’s Eve. Had a 7 o’clock reservation as did maybe 12 other couples in front of us. The people outside waiting to get in we’re not happy. It took 20 minutes just to get through the door. Owner was very nonchalant when I questioned him about the wait. It really look like they over booked for 7 o’clock. Their service was very good though we waited an hour between the time we sat down and had our main meal. We go here frequently in the firstFor New Year’s Eve. Don’t know if I’ll do it again
Nice place for new years. Raj the owner is friendly and the food is delicious.
We had a 7 pm reservation for New Year’s Eve. We got there at 7 and there was a long line of people waiting to go inside. It seemed like no one was in charge. Everyone had a 7pm reservation. We finally got seated at 7:35 - handled very incompetently. Our food was good, our waitress was good but seemed frazzled. The food took a very long time to get out of the kitchen. I would not return for a holiday
New Year’s Eve dinner, my boyfriend thought his meal Filet Migon n Lobster was on the small side.
The individual taking and controlling the reservations for New Year's Eve should have had a specific plan and numbers that could be handled. I reserved a table for five the first week of September. Upon entering the restaurant, it seemed as though my request was not going to honored. One hour and a half is the normal turn over per table in a restaurant. Many invididuals were waiting who had reserved tables. This does harm to the reputation of the restaurant. We were eating our dessert and were not yet through when the server was hooverig around our table, I simply pulled out my card so that we could be on our way, our meal was no longer enjoyable. Restaurant owners should be aware that there are many other days where your tables are
vacant. Please offer respect to the guests who frequent your establishment.
I treated my daughter to lunch at Dana's. We were both very pleased with the experience. The food was excellent and so was the service. Our waiter, Alfonso, was very attentive and cordial. We really enjoyed our end of the year treat!
Great service, excellent food, and timely preparation, and turnaround to requests.
Waitress was outstanding; food very good. Thank you Dana's!
For quite a long time Id pass right by Dana’s never interested or curious it didn’t appear inviting. On a Sunday afternoon we decided to stop for lunch I ordered the Ruben and my husband ordered the crab sandwich and we shared them. The crab sandwich was tasteless and the Ruben didn’t have cheese or thousand island dressing. I mentioned this to the server and her reply...it’s the cooks first day! Really? That’s a terrible reply. I’m going with my first opinion and will continue to pass Dana’s by.
Excellent service by Juan. Food was great, cooked as ordered and we never felt rushed. Enjoyed a wonderful meal and will definitely return.
Each dish was tasty and the small plates are really like regular courses. A lot of food for the money and well presented. Service was personable and thorough. Will be back!
Had a wonderful birthday celebration here. Great food, large menu and great staff!
Our waiter wasn’t very well trained. Never brought menus to our friends after they arrived. They even asked for them and they weren’t brought to the table. Long wait time to order. Waiter was difficult to understand.
This is not the first time this has happened. We had 7 pm reservation for 4 and were seated at 7. However, we received our dinner at exactly 8:30 with excuse they were busy and “backed” up. If they have a full night of diners, they should plan for more help that night. We are finished giving Dana’s our money with other better places in Danville.
One of our favorites. Great food, atmosphere and service.
