Damon's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Awesome restaurant! Drove over an hour to get there. The decor is early tiki with a big aquarium in the middle of the dining room. Our server who has been there 25 years was friendly and made some recommendations (get the house dressing on the salad). The prime rib was very flavorable and cook to perfection. The blackened rib eye had a nice kick to it. This is definitely a place to visit in Glendale. We'll be back!
I want to say a special thank you to the hostess. After juggling tables while trying to get seated, she gave us a desirable table for our group. The restaurant was very crowded, and at first we were seated in very undesirable tables for our group, especially since we asked for a quieter table due to hearing issues of some of our guests. Anyways, the hostess was willing to give us a nice quiet corner booth, and we really appreciated that, and it made our experience there much more enjoyable. When making your table reservation, you may want to be specific as to what kind of table you need, as this restaurant is very lively and noisy at dinner time.
This was my first visit . A friend recommended it because I was looking for a steak restaurant that was not super expensive or stuffy atmosphere. Damon’s is casual atmosphere. We all ordered steak and they were decent. Ordered 2 different cocktails. The “famous mai tai was less than average, mostly orange juice. The monkeys uncle was better. Spent about $275 for 5 people with drinks and appetizers. Was ok but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.
Damon’s has been a neighborhood gem for many decades and their charm only grows stronger.
Fantastic prime rib and steaks with wonderful ambiance and the friendliest servers. Great for a casual weekend night w family, friends and for date nights too.
The bar is one of my favorites in LA!!
The restaurant has been in business since the late '30s and it's easy to see why. The Tiki theme is fantastic, the throwback ambience is genuine not hipster or ironic. The tropical drinks are strong and flavorful. Our server was an absolute gem -- friendly, knowledgeable, fun-loving and gave us great suggestions. Food was very good, highly caloric, high carbs, and served promptly, even though the place was packed wall-to-wall. Terrific garlic bread and twice-baked potatoes. Crowd the night we went was all ages, all types, and high energy. We had a great time and can't wait to go back. Loved it.
We dine here whenever we are in the area and have always enjoyed the food. Dinner was great! My husband and I both ordered the Beef Filet Tenderloin along with their twice baked potato. The Beef Tenderloin was excellent. It was perfectly prepared; very tender and great flavor. The twice baked potato and the salad with their house dressing was very good as usual. Service was very attentive and friendly.
This was my first visit to Damon's, though it has been there since 1937. And, it appears that nothing has changed since then -- decor, menu, drinks. It's called a steakhouse, but it looks like a South Seas restaurant. Tiki and such everywhere and the drink list consists of mai tais and all those other cocktails that I grew up with 50 years ago. The food offerings consisted of steaks, prime rib, chicken, fish and pork ribs, of which I had a half-slab. The best, no, but very good. Dinners come with two sides of your choice (mac 'n cheese was quite good) plus soup or salad to start. With all that food, prices are moderate. Service was excellent; it's a good choice when going to the Alex Theater.
Do you really want me to tell you about Damons in Glendale, You asked?
We left angered and in a rage because the little bitter girl who thought she was capable of making decisions higher than picking her underwear for the day had declined my mothers "child's plate" for her dinner that night. She is 90 and doesn't eat much. The rest of us (3 adults) had ordered drinks and steaks totally about $150.00. The order was taken and the drinks came.
Then the waitress informed us the manager on duty won't give my mom the child's plate.
I confronted, Miss manager, she kept saying sir, keep your voice low, we can take this to the office. I said even louder I'm fine where I'm at!!!
So, I gathered up my tattered group and we searched for dinner elsewhere before a pleasant evening at the theatre.
I will never return to this restaurant after being a customer for over 40 years.
They seem to be very much in business to insult customers and not want them back. So be it!!!!
Shame on Damon's towards senior Seniors!!!!
I have been coming here since the 70's. When I crave Filet Mignon, this is the place.
The salad is unique n tasty with French dressing. We had the vegetable beef soup, so good.
The garlic bread - hot and delicious, twice baked potato is always perfect. My ChiChi had slushy ice-mmmmmmmmm. I would break my diet for here. Always consistently great.
Excellent service. Hilary and Mary were very gracious and attentive. Very tasty food. If you are down for fish, I highly recommend the Mahi Mahi with twisted baked potatoes. Love the tomato bisque soup and the house salad. Exquisito! The price was good. The only thing I found too expensive was the garlic bread.
I had requested a table for a party of eight with a birthday. Some guests are hearing challenged so I requested the Tiki Room. The Tiki Room was set up beautifully in advance, it was quiet, the bar and food service were both wonderful, our server was very attentive, all orders were correct and my 85 year old Mother was very pleased. An over-all success.
Have been there a few times and never been disappointed in either the food or service. The waitstaff is knowledgeable about the food ,and if they don't know the answer to your question, they will go in the kitchen and ask (without an attitude!). The hostess greets you like an old friend. Makes you feel welcome from the start!
Wow was I disappointed with this place. I have no idea how this was listed on one of the top 25 steakhouses in LA because it was not a pleasant trip. The place was very busy and the it was so loud that you could barely hear each other. It's also incredibly disorganized and we were cut by two people as we waited for the hostess to return to check us in. I would forgive all of that if the food was worth it but it wasn't. The sides are limited and taste like they came out of a can. I had the creamed corn and it tasted like cafeteria food. The steak was cooked well and tasted fine but it's nowhere near the quality of Taylors, Mortons, etc. The wine selection was terrible and had 1-2 choices for each type and they were all incredibly cheap brands. This place is simply outdated. I felt like I was in a Chucky Cheese
Waitress was a hoot! Mai tais are a good value. And the ribs enough for three dinners. We used to go to the old location l o n g ago, filets are no longer $4.95 but the "new" incarnation is probably a good value, all in all. There is quite a range of options on the menu. And the salad bowl is as good as ever!
