Sides and soups were about average, however the main course meats were absolutely delicious! My steak was beautifully cooked and my husband had a lovely brisket/barbecue combo. The waiter was polite, pleasant and prompt, and rhe cocktails were reasonably priced and delicious.
My only complaint is that I wish they'd do something about the carpeting. It smells musty and like old food, which I associate more with Chuck E Cheese's or a cafeteria than a pricy restaurant. It needs a good shampoo or to be ripped out altogether. Aside from that, the tiki theme is great, and makes for a cozy, elsewhere-feeling space.
I enjoy Damon's and will go back again but this visit was a disaster. Went for a business dinner on Friday 4-20-18. Service: Our waitress seemed very busy and perhaps she is taking care of too many tables. Took our drink and food orders and all was well. But then she just disappeared. She came by once and we ordered another round which she forgot. We kept grabbing the busboy or food runner to get drinks. Finally, she delivered the check and never came back to collect payment. After 20 minutes, we finally left and took the bill to the wait station to pay. Food: The garlic bread was uncut so there were these two half-loaves which we ended up cutting ourselves. My rib eye was fatty and seemed more like a flank steak. Salad was excellent as was the Mai Tai as usual.
Food is good and servings generous. There is a list of specials, although they don't seem to change much. Chicken is tasty as is the beef brochette.
We have been coming here over 35 years. The food is always good. The steaks are cooked perfectly, the salad is fantastic and always taste the same, great variety of desserts and appetizers. Most importantly, the drinks are out of this world. We can’t forget the great service. Our server who has been there for years is always on top of things. She always made sure we were being taken care of.
Really great meals, good service wide menu selection, specialty drinks
One of our favorite restaurants! Always great! Family environment!
Good old fashioned steak and tiki place. Diverse menu. Great service without pressure.
Birthday celebration and our server Mary was great!!
We stopped by for an unexpected lunch! It was excellent. Had a cheeseburger and fries. It was a really good old-fashion Cheeseburger. Would definitely recommend it and have it again.
Celebrated our anniversary here. Staff went out of their way to make it a special evening. Wonderful experience all around.
We went after the GCT show. Food and drinks were good and waitress was very nice.
Excellent service, waiters were extremely nice and attentive. Delicious food and we loved the drinks!!
Food was decent, but I wouldn't recommend a Friday evening visit unless you've been coming here for 20 years or more.
The restaurant was moderately busy (majority of tables occupied, but not every table taken), but our server seemed to be overwhelmed with a number of large tables, that all seemed to expect personal conversation time with her (she sat down with a group at one point) -- which is to emphasize that our server was very friendly, but I think her regulars tend to monopolize her time. If I was a regular, I'd definitely appreciate this level of service, but as an occasional guest and the person in my group who suggested Damon's, it was a let down. We literally did not get a single water refill over nearly 2 1/2 hours, even after asking.
Drinks (speciality drinks, such as the bloody mary and mai tai) were fine (nothing particularly special). I wouldn't say they were expensive, but they were not a great value. You're probably eating steak, you probably want a drink, and they have them but you shouldn't be going FOR the drinks.
I got lucky on this pick, because my group was largely self-entertaining (and it's a fun, lively dining room), but with the lackluster service and middling drinks, it just didn't feel like a good value.
Damon's has been around for a long time and had always been the go to spot for Mai Tai's. WE have been pleasantly surprised the last few times we have gone as the food quality seems to have improved quite a bit. They have added BBQ which is quite good although this time both my wife and I had the swordfish which was wonderful. Always busy with a fun atmosphere. The bar is and institution.
We came to have a great meal before the show at the Center Theater. Wonderful Meal, as always.
This place is a favorite of our and too will be yours. It has been around for 70+ years. The restaurant is like walking into the “Enchanted Tiki Room” at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The decor is original and unique. There is a beautiful fish tank in the middle of the room surrounded by palm trees which hide the columns in the open room with high ceilings.
The speciality drink menu is welcoming. Try the Pineapple Dole Whip, it is a drink and dessert in one. Traditional Mai Tai’s are what is expected plus some.
The food menu is large enough to satisfy any pallet. The Coconut Shrimp with the sweet/spicy dipping sauce and Fried Calamari are the family favorites. As for the Main Course the meats are well prepared and served as desired. The kids menu will make any kid smile. Their cheeseburger can feed any teenager.
I have been dining at Damon's for MANY years and will continue to do so. It's an awesome restaurant with awesome food, especially the garlic toast, the steaks and the fish. LOVE DAMON'S!
Hands down, the salmon was delicious and the hubby's Filet Mignon was very tasty. My tomato Provencal really was impressive! What a yummy idea!
However, the twice baked potatoes were bland and this disappointed.
We will not be returning here because of the service. Missy, tried to be efficency but she never once checked in on us and we finally got some water after we exclaimed that we didn't have any. The busboy who brought me some lemon on a plate, practically threw it down. I checked to see if it was slippery on the bottom, to give him the bennifit of the doubt.....it wasn't!
Folks, service is key. On Yelp I kept seeing reviews about their service but it was Easter and we were going to be in the area so we thought, how bad could it be?!
I honestly think some of the wait staff have died and no one bothered to tell them...not one. Smile in the whole place!
Always the best service here .
I have been coming to Damon's for years (old Damon's on Central in Glendale). Always good food. The service is wonderful and prompt. One of our favorites.
House salad is my favorite and any of the steak options is always good.
Celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday and he’s been going to Damon’s for 40 years when their old location was where the Glendale Galleria is now. Mary was our server and she’s just like sugar she’s s so unbelievably sweet and on top of her game at the same time. Their entire staff is amazing we couldn’t find a single thing that they could have improved upon. We had a lovely time and the Birthday boy even got leid! Lol. So dad started the tradition of Damon’s and we will most certainly keep it going. BTW all of always order the Tenderloin and if you like red meat you won’t be disappointed.
High quality cuts of meat for a fraction of the price of the big steakhouses. Even included a side dish plus soup or salad. The salad was disappointing, but the sides we chose (sautéed spinach with garlic and twice baked potatoes )were excellent. Good quality wine at very reasonable prices by the glass. Desserts were great too. Small wonder that the place was crowded on a mere Monday evening.
I am a little biased. We have been eating at Damon's for over 50 years. Still order the tenderloin.
There is no better meat for the money. We now have moved an hour away but when you have a taste for Damon's nothing else will do.
Old standby that I love to go to whenever I go to the Alex Theater. I look forward to the prime rib & the garlic bread-so relish!!
We had a concert to attend at the Alex and had about an hour for dinner. We made reservations which is a must to get a table at 6 p.m. on weekends. When we walked in, at 5:57 we were seated immediately while those who walked in without a reservation were told that it would be an hour to an hour and a half wait. Our waiter Jeffrey was great, food was good (though the stuffed baked potato was quite dry) and service was prompt. We had a nice dinner and enjoyed the restaurant.
We love this place!
Food was good and plentiful. I thought the value was good. Service was a bit slow after the meal was served. Waited for the check for some time. This was a birthday celebration and I was told that there would be a dessert brought. It never arrived even though a neighboring table was served a birthday dessert. My friend said to "not bother" so I did not ask the server why it was not brought out.
This is the restaurant that we choose for dinner when traveling from Philadelphia to Glendale on business.
Walking distance from hotel, along with friendly atmosphere with good menu to choose.
We’ve been coming here for years. Food, service, and atmosphere is fantastic....Bring back the Alligator Poppers. They were the Bomb👍
Absolutely outstanding. We had our St. Patrick's Day dinner and it was delicious, spectacular service. We will be back soon!
Food was delicious. The Mai Tai a bit of a disappointment.
Great place for steaks and special occasions. The server was outstanding. She was helpful, friendly and efficient. Enjoyed the meal!
We were very disappointed for various reasons. First, the area we were sitting (in the back semi private room) smelled and not pleasantly. We ordered two orders of ribs and they were the worst we've tasted, they were still pink and hard, very disappointing. Ribs are supposed to fall off the bone. My deapest regrets I chose Damon's for what was supposed to be a special dinner with my parents.
Lovely dinner with friends
Damon's is outstanding and we love the quality and service so much that we generally go to Damon's once a week or at least a couple times a month. Service is OUTSTANDING ! Food is OUTSTANDING !
I love this place. Have been coming here all my life, and still just as good! Love the chi chis , the tenderloin and the retro Hawaiian vibe!
Food was good. Service was a little slow.
Same as the previous time: great food, affordable prices, and unbelievable service!
