A mismatch. The food well prepared and in the case of the fish dishes delicious. As good as the food was, the service was terrible. Indifferent, inattentive, slow and not at all welcoming. A tell-tale: in a half full restaurant, not one of the two floor managers inquired if anyone regarding their meal or service. The chef cares but no one else seems to.
Excellent seafood, just a few blocks from UNT Dallas College of Law, where we were attending a tournament. Service, ambience, and food quality were outstanding, and the chef was very accommodating to my wife’s food allergies. The Ahi was absolutely fantastic - so much so that we converted a “never raw” friend to actually enjoying Sashimi.
We e been here many times and always enjoyed it but this time we were disappointed.
Some of the food was still very good but one of us ordered salmon and it was extremely dry, actually inedible. Further we asked for a curry-less dish and they were not able to accomplish this.
We will probably restaurant again as it may have been an off night so we will see but this visit wasn’t great.
Our hotel was near this restaurant and so we decided to try it. It was a lovely evening with good food in a beautiful atmosphere. The lighting fixtures were definitely selected for a fish restaurant including the chandelier at the entrance. We asked the waiter if the glass on the rear wall was Chihuly but no one seemed to know.
We enjoyed the Oysters on the Half Shell, the Hamachi Crudo, and the Palacios , Texas Redfish. All of our choices was delicious. The waitstaff was professional, well trained, and appeared to very much enjoy working there.
We would certainly return the next time we are in Dallas.
Tolerant with a 1 year old; who did not make a lot of noise, but managed to scatter bread crumbs on the floor. Nice accomodation to perfectly prepare a small piece of salmon in lieu of the normal less healthy chicken fingers etc for kids. He ate it very well!
Been to the restaurant several time before and had a decent experience, but this was not that good. Food was cold and had to send it back. Husband had finished his meal prior to even getting mine. They brought my vegetables out after my meal was finished because they did too make them right the first time.
The dinner is really good, but the lunch was not!!! Very little food/seafood for your money. Lots and lots of bread and breading. Less than mediocre service. Additionally, the chef was out on the day in question. They took 3 shrimp and cut it up on the po boy. They over breaded and fried a half filet of fish on the fish and chips. And then lobster roll had 1 claw. The biscuits were served cold. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! A waste time and money.
What was most disappointing about this experience was the poor service. The server we had was over-sat, but there are ways to mitigate the extended wait of customers. The experience started with a fifteen minute wait to get someone’s attention to take our drink order. Our meals were just okay: three of the four arrived warm to cool, not hot, after waiting about 40 minutes. The fourth, a steak ordered well done, arrived undercooked, and she had to wait—again. I would not eat here again.
I ordered the scallops and upon the first bite I noticed a strong taste and odor of ammonia from the scallops. I immediately returned the dish. An ammonia smell from scallops is a clear sign they were going bad. My rub is that no one apologized for serving the bad scallops and after checking out, noticed that they didn't even remove it from our ticket. I used to love this place but after this experience, I won't be coming back. A simple acknowledgment and apology from either the chef or restaurant manager would have gone a long way in getting me to return again.
When first seated, we asked about specials and were also told that the Chef was very proud of his menu and did not see the need for specials. When we asked to make a menu substitution, we were told the Chef would no make substitutions for the same reason. The food was mediocre, but at least the service was slow and poor...I am guessing that the Chef will figure out what happens to restaurant folks who rest on their Laurels.
It is our second visit to the restaurant. The food was exceptional. Had never had the 3/Ceviche before, and it was tasty and different. I typically get the flat iron steak. It was cooked to perfection, (Medium rare) and was tasty. The sauce was exceptional. My wife (the pescatarian) enjoyed the scallop and cauliflower. the dessert menu is a bit light, but since we really enjoy the chocolate souffle, who cares? We'll be back
I was in Dallas for a conference and ate here twice at lunch time and once in the evening. The food is excellent and reasonably priced.
The service was good but on one occasion they brought out my main course before I had finished my starter - not great when they have to take it back to the kitchen and keep it warm.
Overall it's a quality restaurant and if you're into fish and sushi it will hit the spot.
I think it was overpriced. The appetizer jumbo crab cake was cold and nothing special. The white wine was served at room temperature instead of chilled to perfection (as it should be at a restaurant of that caliber). And the scallop entree consisted of 3 small scallops with some cauliflower. A ripoff.
Service is not very good -- We went there for restaurant week, but had to ask for the restaurant menu. We were sitting there for 15 minutes and no server came to our table. Finally, the lady at the front went to the servers standing near the kitchen and asked why they ignored our table. Food, kind of mix - The scallop ceviche was fishy. The crispy benzino fish was very good.
We went to enjoy dinner during restaurant week last Friday. We chose salmon sandwich and beets salad to start. Salmon sandwich definitely different than we thought. It was delicious and just melted in our mouths. Beets salad was so fresh and had amazing flavors yet beautiful plating. Then for entrees, we had arctic char with bok choy and fillet of branzino with brussels sprouts. Really loved the crispy skins on fish. To wrap up we chose cinnamon dome and chocolate tart. I, myself, enjoyed the chocolate tart since I am a dark chocolate fan. Wine pairing was available and we chose to go with it. We made the right choice with wine pairing since the wines went very well with the dishes we picked. Service was impeccable! Our server was Griff. He was very knowledgeable with the menu yet very attentive. Overall it was very pleasant dining experience at Dallas Fish Market. Definitely recommend this place!
The food and drink were excellent. Very creative and great ingredients. The night we were there, early on a Friday, the bar was undermanned and slightly overwhelmed as the bartender could have used some help. He hustled his behind, but manager should have redeployed staff to help.
I would/will go back again!!!!!
