We really enjoyed our meal. Only down side was the smoking people sitting next to us in the outside bar area. We also felt that the waiter was rushing us. We were not ready to order dinner yet as we were enjoying our appetizers and wine; he came of multiple times and asked what we wanted for dinner. However I would visit this restaurant again when in the Dallas area. The food was delicious.
The filet was the best part, a solid 8.5 out of 10. We ordered medium rare, and they arrived rare, so 8.5 is as high as I will go. The lobster tail was sub par, borderline terrible. The twice baked potato was dry and flavorless. Disappointing to say the least. First and last visit.
This is right around the corner from Majestic Theatre. A great pre theatre dining experience. They even have a Majestic Theatre price fix menu with wonderful selections and a great value.
I had been wanting to try this place forever. It was such a disappointment. The waiter seemed very condescending when he spoke. My steak was ordered Medium and came out well done. (The got my girlfriends steak correct) there was a table of six men who were loud and obnoxious. I guess the let them stay because it was One of three tables that people. The place was dead at 9:45 PM on a Friday. Bottom line: for the cost of my ticket (my filet was not charged and I refused to eat or take the replacement home) I’ll continue to visit Ocean Prime or Silver Fox.
Had an amazing anniversary dinner and our waiter Chip was fantastic. The charcuterie was a wonderful assortment and an ample portion, Caesar salad topped with fresh sardines was great, and The porterhouse steak was perfecto. One of the more original and delicious sides was the crawfish maque choux was a wonderful blend of corn, poblano, red bells, garlic, crawfish and a Cajun cream sauce. Food, ambiance and service are all hard to beat and we’ve eaten at almost every steakhouse in town.
We really enjoyed our dinner. The steaks were exceptional and our waiter Ryan gave us outstanding service. We will diffently by repeat customers when we visit Dallas again.
Planning our Theater evening, we were looking for a dining option within an easy walk of the Majestic. On their website they recommended Dallas Chop House, so we took advantage of a special deal between the two: a special $100 three-course "Majestic menu". It includes a bottle of a house white or house red, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, choice of a beef, chicken or fish entree, and a dessert to be shared. I go to the trouble to spell this out because it was BECAUSE OF THIS DEAL that we went there in the first place. And it IS a good deal and a very nice meal. What kept me from a 5 Star rating on service was the distinct change in tone from our waiter when he discovered we were talking advantage of their fixed price menu. It's not as if he became rude; he just different seemed to be interested in anything else but us. Not a huge deal, and he was nice enough, but still: honor the deal with enthusiasm and a smile.
We'll be back, but hoping for a more cheerful attitude.
I ordered the ribeye, medium, bone-out, and a side of sautéed spinach. The ribeye was cooked to the right temperature, but it was charred on the outside, so the medium part was truly only the center of a fairly thick piece. It was a tougher eat than I'd expected, chewy and not flavorful.
The restaurant does not leave any condiments on its tables, so no salt, pepper or steak sauce. I understand that as a practice, but your cuts of meats have to support it. This was a really disappointing ribeye, especially for $52.
The side, sautéed spinach, was smothered in some sort of cream. I ate a couple of bites and left the rest. Maybe it's a local preference - I was in town on business - but I would not order either item again here.
Redeeming feature: the waiter was perfectly attentive, concerned when I expressed my surprise about the spinach, and helpful throughout.
Great steaks and the service was awesome
Steaks had no flavor and were tough. Had ribeye and filets. Both were flavorless.
Great restaurant for Anniversary celebration. Great food and service, the food was perfect.
We chose their Theater meal deal, $100 for two with a bottle of wine. Great value. Food was excellent . Service was a little slow and the main dining room is a little loud, but overall we all had a great meal and a great time.
Came for dinner date before attending the Ron White Show on Sat. night at The Majestic.
Had the show special dinner, which was terrific. Lovely wine and service. Salmon and Steak were awesome plus Crème Brulee for dessert. Great waiter as well.
FOH manager was rude to people around me
Our waiter was rude. Our food was less than average.
Had a wonderful dinner before going to a show at the Majestic theater. We told the waiter we had all kinds of time to kill before the show, but understood that on a Saturday night we might have to leave the table after 2 hours. He gladly slowed our courses and even gave us a free dessert!
The staff was friendly, but overwhelmed. Service was mediocre and steak was terrible!
The atmosphere and food was absolutely delicious and enjoyed by both my husband and myself. He said it was the best steak he has ever eaten. He’s eaten a lot of steaks. Raved about our appetizer. The tuna tar tar was out of this world. We shared a twice baked potato and still had some left. Oh and I loved the honey butter and that amazing bread. It was all five stars.
Service was very poor, ordered a steak medium rare and it was served well done. Waiter never came back until we didn’t have time for them to recook it. Didn’t even ask why I didn’t eat any of my steak. Will not be returning
ceasar salad was bland. creamed spinach needed more salt. sent my filet back twice . ordered mediam rare. received medium well both times. was given credit. crème broulee was excellent. hostess was awesome she seated us right away. wait staff lacked everything. we had to wave him down for drinks, spicing and steak cooked incorrectly.
Great meal with my wife before seeing a show at the Majestic. It was a fantastic meal with great service. We can't wait to do it again.
Service was awesome. Very accommodating to diets. A little noisy in restaurant due to band in the bar.
The menu for a Valentine Day dinner was horrible people actually chose restaurant for the food they normally serve not made up menus!
Wanted good steak from a local steak house. We are from San Antonio and were very pleased with the entire dining experience. Thank you!
The food and service was excellent! There was the banquet going on so we were in the back room which was very cozy. They had cucumber water sitting on the table we sat down which was a nice touch but I’m not a fan of cucumbers so they swapped it out for just plain water. They had cucumber water sitting on the table we sat down which was a nice touch but I’m not a fan of cucumbers so they swapped it out for just plain water The tables are not super close so you don’t feel like you were encroaching on your neighbors conversation
S rvixe was awesome.
30 day agedrib eye had way too much farfir an aged steak
Would have expected tablecloths, and not the placemats I have on my kitchen table. Waiters friendly, and very efficient.
Steak was dry and without flavor. Wine ordered was incorrect. Desert was order but never delivered. Can't recommend this resturant.
Food and service were great. The best shrimp cocktail I have ever had
Had great expectations walking in from reading reviews. We went to celebrate my birthday. We were disappointed in the quality of the steaks. Ordered a Ribeye and over half of the steak was fat and the other half wasn’t tender at all. I thought it was just me being picky but my date agreed. The creamed spinach was great though! Overall, it definitely wasn’t the best steak I have ever had but I wouldn’t probably go back.
Excellent meal; and included an aperitif and amuse bouche. My friend and I both enjoyed our meals. Service was prompt and easy to make it early to our show at the Majestic Theatre.
The food was deliciuos. They let us share a cowboy bone in ribeye steak. The Brussel sprouts were very tasty. The cauliflower was a bit bland, but still very good.
Food was ok I just did not like our waitress he made me feel really un comfortable
Had a blast good food ! Great waiter, service was exceptional! Couldn’t hav asked for anything more!
We really wanted to like this restaurant. We brought in friends from out of state. They wanted the downtown experience. Coming in from Plano, we were not impressed. As another review mentioned, the steaks truly don't taste aged and the quality is choice at best. Med-rare and void of flavor. Both the rib-eye and fillet equally dry and bland. Side dishes were tepid and Brussels sprouts mushy in a bed of bacon fat. Do not order the bone marrow. You will receive one 6" piece. For the price, it's an embarrassment. Bad night for the kitchen, sure. Short staffed, maybe. but when I mentioned the marrow, the server just said "I'll take it off" and walked away. He was equally distant when we asked for salt. Drinks took 20 minutes and the meal came five minutes after the appetizer.
I can throw out the "I've been in the business " line but the expectation for a seasoned restaurateur or novice should be close to perfection, at this price point. The staff should be in clothes that fit and shirts ironed.
I will commend the support/buss staff. Quick, responsive and polished. Drinks were great but the I-pad wine menu was handed to us with another restaurants menu and information loaded on it. Lunch might be a hit but dinner recommended here.
After a lengthy wait the filets showed up cold stringy and chewy
Very good meal and awesome service! Would go back
First time trying dallas Chop House, as we walked in we were greeted with very friendly staff. Our server was very nice, the wine was great. My husband had steak and lobster and it was very good, I had the quail and it was fabulous. We will be going back soon for the full menu experience.
Very disappointed with the quality of food. Ribeye steaks were extremely tough and no flavor. We were visiting from CA for the Cotton Bowl and had higher expectations for a premium resteraunt. To top it off there was a table were a woman was extremely loud, cackling and clearly had no regard for the other patrons trying to enjoy a nice dinner. The waiter was informed of her disruptive behavior but nothing was done to bring it to her attention. Overall we couldn't wait to leave.
A perfect and fine dinner evening. Highly recommend DCH to friends.
