Dakotas Prime Steak & Chop House - Tyler Ratings and Reviews
Dakota’s has always been a favorite. The food has always been consistently good. They have the best steaks and the Chilean Sea Bass is a favorite. The Christmas holidays is a extra special treat with the beautiful tree in the main dining room and decorations.
Food was good. Pricey, but good. Table next to us was old folks (like me) and we were seated a little too close and it was a little too loud. Overall, we will definitely try them again. Probably a good place for a date or evening with a friend. @100.00 + tip for two - with water only, so probably not a place we will eat often. We had the Fettucini w chicken and the grilled shrimp - they were good. Not over the moon, but good. The waiter was nice. Decorated for Christmas which was nice.
The food was great as well as the server. She was prompt and polite, was not pushy to get an order. My wife got the filet which was under cooked and I received the ribeye that was over cooked. But they tasted so good it didn’t matter.
The only down fall of the night and the reason for the three star raising overall, was the amount of time waiting on the food to arrive. We had to wait for exactly 56 minutes from ordering to delivery to the table. I know this because I was about to ask the waitress about the wait due to plans we had previously scheduled.
We were very disappointed with our recent dinner at Dakotas. The waiter was not very attentive and somewhat short and rude. The steaks were very good but the salads were not well prepared and the corn chowder soup was very watered down. We have had a nice lunch here before but would not recommend for dinner after this experience.
The evening was very enjoyable and overall we enjoyed it. Our steak had quite a bit of gristle in it. Taste was excellent but 15-20% gristle. Appetizer, bread and salad were good. Disappointed in appetizer make up. Menu sounded good with shrimp and shrimp add on, but quality was what you would find in Walmart frozen foods. Dessert was good.
Excellent service, pretty good food. Appetizers were incredible, dessert was incredible, steak was pretty good. Love that you have multiple choices with meal for sides. Loaf of bread pre-meal was HUGE...and tasty. It is a bit pricey so not for every day dining, but it is better than your run of the mill restaurants in Tyler.
The atmosphere was nice. The service was okay. The lobster was over cooked and asparagus was undercooked with no flavor or seasoning. My steak was a little more cooked then medium rare. It wasn't busy but it took a while to get our food. The $125 bottle of wine was good, but didn't seem better than a $25 bottle you buy in the store. It was nice, but we will not be going back. It was expensive for what you received.
We would have given it a 5 Star , however our reservation was early , maybe 3 tables filled. Main entre was great , I had the Halibut and my Husband had Pork Chops, both were perfectly done. Dessert was another story, chose 2 different desserts and they were out of both. Stumped at that one.
That being said ambience, service and the Food was very good. We were not rushed at all.
We will return
Made reservations at 7PM a few days out. Pretty excited about going as this was my first time dining there. Showed up on time and seated quickly. Place wasn't that busy so it seemed odd that it took a bit for the server to greet us and ask us for our drink order. He seemed tired and disinterested. He took our order and let us know he'd be telling us about specials when he came back. 15 minutes later no drinks, nothing. Waiter came back to the table and said drinks would arrive shortly and would we like to order now. We explain that no we'd like our drinks first as we were not in a hurry. 10 minutes later no drinks and no communication from the staff that they were busy or there was a problem. At that point we left. Very much disappointed in Dakotas. I'm in the food service industry so I'm pretty forgiving. They've lost any future business from me.
Delicious food, good service. The recorded music was a little too loud, but everything else was just right. We loved the calamari and raw oysters as appetizers. The 4 oz steak is always up to par and my husband reported that the soft shell crab was quite tasty. We brought a group of friends who are new to Tyler and they really enjoyed it.
I ordered the bone-in prime ribeye. Not served hot and was not very tender. Prime ribeye did not seem to be a prime steak. Wife ordered the 4 oz filet, tender but not served warm. Lump crab cocktail was a xcellent as were our side dishes. Interesting Wine list and cocktail list.
My wife and I went there on a date. No special reason, just wanted to do something a little more up scale. The place was excellent. More then we exspected. We had a amazing server. The food was the most shocking of all. Crab claws followed by fillet mignon, it was perfectly cooked we where blown away with flavor. Absolutely loved every bite. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend you should try it. Great for those special Occasions.
Well that was very disappointing. Just simply bad food at this Tyler location. $55 bucks for a 3/4 in thick bone in steak. Had similar at Dakota's in Dallas and it was spectacular, not here and not by a long shot. Low level service help for this type of establishment, so it appears the are cutting corners everywhere. This one should be avoided completely. What a shame, we had such high expectations.
Celebrating Father's Day with my husband and daughter. Filets were excellent and cooked to perfection. Service was great. Wine was excellent. Bought desserts to take home and we we're dissapointed in cheesecake and bread pudding. Need to get better recipes for both. Would not recommend dessert.
Our extremely expensive dinner was less than acceptable. The food was just ok...but ok came with a huge price tag. We went based on a recommendation of a nephew...but never again.
We won't be back. We could of eaten 4 times at our favorite restaurant for what it cost us for this miserable meal.
We had a very good experience. The bar was fun and the wait staff very attentive, but when we got to our dining table everything ramped up a couple of notches. Our waiter was excellent only overshadowed by the prime steaks and the wine. I would highly recommend the prime bone-in filet. Salads and sides were well made and the bread sinful. Desserts and coffee finished off a great evening.
