   We celebrated my daughters birthday at Dakota‘s and had a wonderful evening. Steaks were perfect and bang bang shrimp 🍤 starter was delicious. I can’t wait to go back.

   We made the unknown and unfortunate decision to go on Tyler prom night. But it was our anniversary so really no choice. The restaurant was quite noisy with a steady stream of teens going by as they made numerous restroom visits. Also unfortunate was our waiter’s choice to NOT write down our order. Of course, he forgot we had ordered salads and our steaks were brought out after the appetizer. The food was ok but not worth the price. The flavor of my steak was good but overcooked, not medium as I ordered. Our waiter did comp us a dessert which was nice but, personally, I would rather have had my salad. Dakota’s probably won’t be on my short list of favorite Tyler restaurants, especially on Prom night!

   It was Prom night so the noise level was a little louder. Honestly the steaks were dry for some reason. Not the normal. Maybe it was because the house was packed which is a good thing.

   Found this to be a real gem for the east Texas area. We are used to eating all over Dallas, primarily uptown and downtown. We live east of Dallas so the drive to Tyler is about the same as downtown Dallas. Pleasantly surprised to say the least! Service was outstanding, ambience was wonderful, and food was not the best I’ve had, but still very delicious and pricing blows away most high-end steakhouses. A fantastic value and a great place to enjoy a wonderful meal.

   To our waiter he was outstanding, the Sirloin Steak very good,for my Ribye steak could have been a little more tender, to chewy but season well for 58.00 should have been a tender. Thanks

   Waygu fillet was well done when we asked for medium rare. Waitress did not care any specials (that We heard from Other waiters waitresses ). Waitress did not Offer any cracked pepper at time of his being serviced as the other waitresses did. We did not care to complain ans have to wait on more food Just won’t be back

    First time dining here, and I was happy that we chose to. My husband and I were celebrating date night and wanted to eat somewhere new. Everyone was super nice, ambiance was superb, and food was really good. Definitely will be eating here again.

    The glass we were given had lipstick on it. The steak was not any better than a steak from Outback. Full disclosure there was nothing bad or wrong about the experience. Lipstick on a glass, hey that happens. I think my wife and I had an expectation and it wasn’t met. Probably won’t be back for awhile. Overall the experience was just EH.

    The cocktails were good, the snapper was the best I've ever had. The baked brie was spot on. The shrimp cocktail was made to sound like it was going to be unique but it wasn't. Steak was completely disappointing - especially for the price. Everything else was delicious.

    Superior restaurant. Online menu is misleading. Dakota’s does not serve Wagyu steaks as the online menu says. The reason why I chose Dakotas. The Cowboy ribeye was delicious, although putting the asparagus in the mashed potatoes. Not so much . Overall highly recommend.

    Reservation made for 7:30. Finally got seated around 8:20, almost an hour later. Apparently “reservation” doesn’t mean the same thing at Dakotas as it does elsewhere. The food was good. Not worth nearly as much as they charge for it though.

    The service has improved significantly during our last 2 visits. Prior to that, it was unimpressive for such a pricey restaurant. We are happy to recommend Dakota's for fine dining in Tyler.

    My husband ate the lobster roll and I had the filet sandwich. The meat in mine was over cooked and lobster roll was bland. The steak fries were just regular looking French fries that had no crisp to them. The lobster bisque was the best part of the meal. It was rich and a nice flavor. The items we ordered were things we have eaten in different places around the country and there was no competition. It’s a nice place and our server was great. It’s too bad our food didn’t match that standard.

    To be completely honest....not happy at all. The evening shift manager should definitely seek further training. There is a certain service to be expected with a 300 dollar dinner. They were extremely busy which is to be expected. I made a reservation for my husband's bday. I asked for them to bring him a dessert with happy bday written in chocolate. That never happened. The waiter was never informed. I'm not sure if thats the host or how that process works. We never got our bread so after our appetizers we realized everyone else had bread and asked for ours. It took about an hour to get our food. Which again it's busy so we understand. We ordered a steak with the oscar steak topping. We got the steak but not the topping so we asked our waiter and he apologized and put in the order. About 20 min later he says it's still cooking. We say its ok we know your busy. Then the waiter comes back which at that time we have finished our food. He says he's sorry he dropped it. He offers us a free dessert. Which I thought was going to be my special request but he forgot. So then we ask for a to go box for the dessert and about 15 min later nothing so we just leave. The waiter obviously had a bad night. But besides that the lack of communication in this restaurant between all parties even the chef, is not up to par. I call the manager after our experience and he first says this is not a good time....I tell him I'm sorry I was just there and need to discuss my experience with you. I tell him what happened and he says yea were busy what...do you want like a small gift card? No actually I dont...the worst 300 dollars we have ever spent. And we have made some pretty bad decisions with mo ey in our lifetime.

    It was new years eve, so my expectations were a little lower. The experience was better than that I thought it would be. The food was outstanding, the service was very good. The ambiance is not great for fine dining in my opinion. The tables are very close together I am always amazed that the wait staff aren't crashing into each other. The noise level is very high, so that the 4 of us had a hard time hearing each other. We chose Dakotas because we had a gift card, it is usually not my first choice due to the noise and previous experience with cold food, wrong food orders. However, I'll give it another try based on this experience.

    I was not happy with my meal. I did send it back and was able to get full on bread and veggies only. Was totally disappointing as I order this regularly and could tell right away it was NOT right. I did inquire if there was a new chef and sure enough yes. I am definitely thinking of trying a new spot for what use to be my favorite filet in town.

    We have had the pleasure of eating on a number of occasions at Dakota's. This particular time, we had the most wonderful waitress. Her name was Gabby and she was very attentive and efficient. My only complaint was the wedge salad. I was the only one in our party to have it. All the other salads were green and fresh. Mine was white and rusty lettuce smothered in bleu cheese dressing. Steaks, potatoes and asparagus were great.

    We decided to try the stuff crab mushrooms as an appetizer. They came out cold to the touch and ice cold in the middle. We change to the crab cake which did come out hot. On the main coarse, my mashed potatoes were cold and my wife’s baked potato also came out cold. Steaks were cooked to the correct temperature but were extremely tough. Another disappointment was the menu has been scaled back. The usual steaks and the signature twice baked potato weren’t available. This has been one of our favorite spots to eat but this trip was a major disappointment.

    First the new Exec Chef took the Scallops off the menu. They were one to the reasons we went to Dakota's. I ordered the Lamb chops the were full off fat and so tuff. I should have complained, but felt it wasn't the time. Here's where I am complaining!!! I am no longer impressed with Dakota's and don't know if I will return. Let me know when you have a new Executive Chef?
