Celebrated a milestone anniversary at a first class location during an overnight date-weekend!
Amazingly attentive service from the staff; very romantic/mood (low-level golden)lighting; every bite was delicious; Gluten-free options were available, for 3 out of 4 courses wait staff made certain that we had no gluten. Thoughtful: Initially we ordered an appetizer that we thought was gluten-free but the waiter found out from the chef that it was not, so waiter substituted it for a different appetizer that we had shown interest in; waitstaff did, however, serve our salad with wonton strips on it which was careless mistake with gluten; our split entree of seafood mixed grill was amazing & decadent; Our dessert, the creme brulee banana split and after-dinner, Dakota coffee were phenomenal. My pomegranate martini was ok but tasted strongly of cran-pomegranate juice
Noise level was at moderate was due to a large party that was there prior to our arrival
Made an appointment, was seated immediately on a Saturday evening. Food was perfect. Definite difference between a "cook" and a "chef" and this place is definitely using chefs. service was impeccable. Only thing that I can possible think of as a "con" is the noise level in the room we were in was a little much and made it hard to have a nice quiet conversation, even at our own table. That said, it wasn't the restaurant, it was the group that came in and created the noise so not even much of a "con"
All in all, perfect night for my wife and I's anniversary dinner. will definitely be back and will definitely recommend
This place is a wonderful place for any type of celebration. The food is wonderful!
Have seen some reviews that say Dakota has slipped.
Don’t believe it.
From the pork belly appetizer, different from most with a grilled flavor, to the amazing banana split creme brûlée and the super dense and delicious coconut cake Dakota is a cut above and certainly one of the finest on the north shore.
Thanks for a great meal and wonderful evening.
I have always had good service and have never been disappointed with my meal.
Charred romaine salad was good but scallops were undercooked - 3 scallops were $35 and not very tasty. More the size of an appetizer. Service was good. Duck was ok - average.
Please do not take the 4 stars to mean that this restaurant is anything less than great. It’s just that I’ve been here a few times and our last visit wasn’t up to their “usual” that I’ve come to appreciate.
Excellent and enjoyable, as always!
My husband and I went here on Valentine's Day. It was quiet, the service was fantastic, and the food was delicious. There was a special menu for Valentine's Day. We started with the lobster blt appetizer. It was very yummy. The portion size was quite small (I prefer more share-able appetizers), but it was a nice tasting before our meal. My husband didn't love the fish but he is a very picky eater. His dish seemed to have a very small portion. I had a filet Mignon and it was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked and very flavorful with delicious gravy and mashed potatoes with leeks. It was a perfect amount of food that is filling but won't leave you needing to be carried out of the restaurant. I also had asparagus added to my meal and I wouldn't recommend it... it seemed canned and not fresh. It was the only part of my meal that wasn't perfect. Lastly, we had the white chocolate brownie for dessert. We ate EVERY BIT of this thing. It was soooo delicious and filled with rich dark chocolate. Overall we had a great night here and will likely return for another date night.
We went to Dakota for Valentine's Day. They had a special menu but the number of choices and variety of food was more than adequate. We both had the crab and brie soup (a Dakota classic) and for an entrée, I had the lamb chops while my wife had the veal. Both were delicious. While Dakota is one of the more established fine dining restaurants on the North Shore, it is still one of the best.
It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and they really took great care of us!
The food is delicious. The service is excellent. Dakota is a great restaurant.
Great food, great atmosphere, fantastic service.
Wow! Maurice and his staff took such great care of us. We went for a birthday dinner and asked for the chef's tasting menu with pairings. It was wonderful, extravagant, and worth every cent. We will go back again and highly recommend.
7 people-1 birthday, 1 retirement
I'd say that the food and the service had taken me by surprise. I'd never heard of this restaurant, but it was worth the visit. Great environment, amazing music, good food, just an amazing place to visit. Other places have the"name" but The Dakota is truly a dining experience that I'll revisit each time I'm in the area.
We had a wonderful meal and service. We will be back!!
Ambiance- quiet and relaxing
Wait staff very attentive. We enjoyed the food very much. Delicious!
Service and food quality were up to Dakota's traditional standards. We always look forward to dining there.
We enjoyed our evening. I liked how the server did not rush us and allowed us to enjoy our food.
Each meal here is more delicious than the last. Apps are fresh, delicious and creative, soups and salads fantastic, and I’ve really come to love whatever steaks they’re serving on their frequently-changing menu that smartly keeps the fantastic classics the restaurant is known for. Their by the glass wine list is also noticeably above average (even for restaurants at this level) and allows you to change up your wine choices to match your meal without sacrificing wine quality like you sometimes have to do when buying wine by the glass.
Keep up the great work Dakota!
Dinner was perfect. Steak was delicious. Crab and Brie soup is highly recommended. Only downfall was our server seemed uncomfortable. Never had this issue before.
The food was outstanding. The dining room service from the bar was too slow, but otherwise service was very good. I will definitely return.
The Service was outstandingly perfect! Rebecca was the reason everything was perfect. The special she recommended was great.
Food was excellent. Beverage service was very slow-they seemed to be able to serve only one beverage at a time with long gaps of time between.
Friends having lunch celebrating a birthday. Delicious food served elegantly. We stayed a very long time visiting and never were rushed. The food is always consistent as well as the service. I’ve eaten here many times.
Food was delicious. Service was EXCELLENT!! We got a small dessert on the house for our anniversary which was a lovely surprise
Exceptional food and service. Everything was first-class!
The service at Dakota is always exceptional. The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive to your personal preferences and likes.
The Crab Brie soup never disappoints and should not be missed by a newcomer to Dakota’s! The filet has always been very good and the mixed grill was excellent!
We were not able to get there on Thanksgiving Day, but we went the evening after and it was fabulous! No turkey on the menu, however, the chefs were willing to create something for us with pulled turkey if we desired. We opted to go with the special and menu items, and everything we had was perfectly delicious! We chose Dakota's because we get great service of excellent food in an elegant relaxing atmosphere where we can share quiet conversation and listen to beautiful background music. Loved the whole experience!!
Thanksgiving dinner was amazing and beautiful! Be Thanksgiving plate was delicious and beautiful.
Great food and quiet place!
It was amazing! At our first steaks (filets) were over cooked but they quickly corrected it. It was a great place to catch up with an old friend. The wine list was huge, even a bit overwhelming. I will be back.
The Dakota is a very worthwhile experience. We were visitors from about 2 hours away and had seen very good reviews. Decided to go for my wife's birthday and were not disappointed. The brie and crab soup is the best I have ever tasted. The salads (the "Bleu" and the "Beet and Squash") were outstanding. The entrees (gulf fish with crabmeat and the stuffed soft shell crab) were first rate. My only disappointment was that I did not have room for more.
Service was great, food delicious - perfect birthday lunch !
There was a large group of ladies that were very loud at times.
Wonderful birthday dinner. The service is top notch, the food is creative and original, and the restaurant is classy. Chef Brendon Hawsey is a young man with an incredible talent. Can’t wait to go back see what he has in store for the holidays!
