Daily Grill - Downtown DC

did not get any attention from server and steak salad and only 3 small pieces of steak
Very mediocre dinner served by a very inattentive waiter. Salads were not delivered ahead of the entree and plates not cleared. Disappointing at best.
Our lunch order took nearly an hour to come and was wrong. Not all the food arrived together. When we finally got our servers attention we asked for the check but she never came back with it, despite passing us numerous times. We went to the receptionist who said she couldn’t help so I left my card and for the first time in my life left without paying. The manager couldn’t bother to call me but sent an apology email.
I have been going here for years. The place just gets worse and worse. Never again
Hopefully it was a one off evening. Not good top to bottom.
It’s been a while since we visited this restaurant.
Food was very good as before however the most disappointment was the poor (unprofessional, inexperience) service.
Wonder if the management changed since our last visit.
Kind of an indication that the restaurant had a quite few open seats.
We sat at table near the bar so it was fairly quiet. The restaurant itself is quite noisy.
They had New England Clam chowder as a special -- which I love. Unfortunately, it was not hot enough.
Food was good and service was excellent. Good value.
Good place for a casual meal that was tasty after a day of touring in DC.
Good compromise between white table cloth formal and casual take away.
It was a good experience. Was there during happy hour and it was not noisy. Good food and service.
I think this is a place I would only try in the evening when I was not in a rush to get to another appointment. We went at lunch time and it was under-staffed, crowded (which it should be in downtown DC) and the customer service was minimal. I would have to ask that they consider having a full staff or management step in when they see how the front of the house is starting to fill up.
Food was ok, but service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. Our server, was either brand new or just not cut out for the job. He was S.L.O.W. He took forever to greet our table and bring us water, and never brought bread to our table. The tables next to us had a different server and were seated after us, both got bread and even got their entrees way before us. Requests for knives, drink refills, etc went unanswered. We asked for coffee with our desserts and that took at least 15 mins. Our desserts also took forever to come out as well. He always had to go back to get things he should have brought out initially, like cream for our coffee, and he would disappear for a while before he returned, so you're left sitting there with coffee you can't drink. Then the bill being $125 for two entrees, two cocktails, and two desserts was steep for service to be horrible and the food being nothing to write home about.
I'm glad we chose Daily Grill for our farewell luncheon. We had a lovely, attentive server. We each enjoyed our meals, and each other's company despite the terrible acoustics. Seriously, it's really loud in that dining room!
This is a sure thing for dinning. It has everything for all. The menu mix is excellent. The service, the food and the presentation are always excellent. Kudos to the management and staff.
I have been here many times and I don't recall the food ever taking as long as it did yesterday. The food once it arrives was good and the service was not bad, but for a work lunch they took way to long to prepare the food.
The short ribs dinner is Amazing
I had the chicken and waffles with bacon and an egg. The chicken was burnt and the egg was overcooked. The bloody Mary's were awesome especially the shrimp garnish.
All went well as expected. My only complaint is the skimpy portion size of the steak in the steak frites entree. You should do better at that price for a platter of nothing more than a piece of meat and a handful of fries.
The new hand-held e-billing system is a pain, and a waste of the server's time. She had to stand next to our table while we split the check two ways and tried to each figure out tips, signature, ,etc. Imagine if there had been four or five of us.
Wait staff was cold, no Mother’s Day greeting or acknowledgement, did not highlight special menu items nor clarify bottomless vs single serve mimosas. Food was good but pretty soulless experience overall.
Great food; server was great. We asked for recommendations on both drinks and food. He was honest about being a beer guy which I appreciate and also gave us a top seller recommendation on cocktails.
Good basic food, especially at lunch time. Lots of choices. A bit noisy but the service is pretty good and the cost is reasonable.
Couldn't get the check.
Good place for business meal. Varied menu with daily specials. Very noisy.
The food is fresh and consistently good; service is well-rounded and competent, cheerful and helpful. Best carrot cake in town. Very solid filet--perfectly cooked.
Since we had clients in last week this was my week for Admin appreciation. I noted that on the reservation. We were never asked if we wanted additional beverages or desert. The Manager did come by early in our meal and ask if everything was ok and we indicated very good. Shortly after that our waitress just brought the bill and put it on the table. That was a little disappointing.
Menu selection is good, would have liked to see bread service included. Price point a bit elevated for the type of dishes offered. Pretty loud due to all of the hard surfaces designed in to the space, when busy it is tough to have a focused conversation. Quality of food and the service was quite good as well as the beverage selection. Great location.
I have not been in a while but the quality, ambiance and service have really gone downhill. Overall it was disappointing and I will not return nor recommend it.
Amazing place for dinner
Delicious burgers and Reuben sandwiches. French fries were very average.
We arrived at 5:30. Wait staff were in a meeting towards the back where we were seated. It quickly ended but our server took 15 minutes to greet our table. I was about to leave and find a different spot to dine. He continued to be inattentive the entire stay. Other tables were receiving their orders quickly by other wait staff. This was my family’s last night in DC. We could have chosen better.
Nikki (sp?) was a great a great server. Excellent service. Very enjoyable. Excellent food.
Daily Grill never disappoints. The food and service are always great.
Great lunch meeting spot. Turkey sandwiches were out choice. They take it up a notch . Very good and staff make it a pleasure!!
Great business lunch . Salads were the choice with salmon and chicken being the proteins and they were excellent. Staff and service are always tops
Great place for lunch. Met friends for salads and sandwiches! Staff, service and food always great.
Upscale feel with great food and very reasonable price.
Our waitress was lovely, well spoken and nicely informed about the menu - however she had too many tables to give great service. She brought us delicious bread on a plater, but no bread and butter plates to share it. Drinks took forever! Everyone got there food except one person and we had to wait 15 more minutes before their food arrived. This I fault Daily Grill 18th Street - for not having enough staff to run a smooth dining room.
The Daily Grill was busy when my guest and I arrived, and we were the third group seated. When the receptionist turned her attention to me, I said, "Reservations for Kyle." She looked at her list, and took us off to a seat, a booth on a window. The service and food was good. We discussed business, the purpose of the luncheon. I obtained the check, added a gratuity, and we left. That should have been the end of this story; however, later that afternoon, I received an email claiming that I had not used the Open Table reservation. I presumed that this notice would adversely affect Open Table, and so I objected.
I like the specials so I would go here but I would go the bar and take it to go, service is so minimal, I'm surprised they are still open but menu down to burgers and pot pie. Go figure.
The waiter didn’t bring plates for our appetizers. It’s three of us for dinner.
No napkin for beverage.
Food was horrible!!! Tasteless chops, too much egg in Cobb salad, Rick shrimp were added. I requested shrimp but those tiny season-less shrimp were not worth the six dollars. We were overcharged. This place has gone down! It used to be great, we’ll never come again
