Daily Grill - Downtown DC
Book your next event with us
Daily Grill is very conveniently located downtown between the DuPont Circle and Farragut North Metro stations. It's a good place for meeting companions or business colleagues. The menu offers straightforward, American style dishes which are well-prepared. The service was quick and pleasant. The noise level at our weekday lunch meeting was so high that conversation was difficult.
This lunch was very important because I was making the case for mentorship with a group of young staffers at work. Daily Grill made the experience worth it. The staffers were pleased with their meals and the discussion. I was delighted by the great food and service and a bill that wasn't overly expensive. Thank you.
Great food - Service was lacking. The chicken pot pie is outstanding!
Excessive wait to be seated as well as for service (understandable if crowded but definitely not the case). Limited to front seating area where the staff seemed more interested in preparing for the next day vs. assisting customers.
We split the bill on two cards and were expected to use the credit card machine ourselves —while the waiter watched. This is suppose to be an upscale restaurant. Stop making it so self-service. Why are we tipping the wait staff if it has features like a cafeteria.
good food and service for a 'quick lunch' gotta say it's expensive tho , grilled tuna salad and turkey sandwich $60 bucks ????
Entrees came out at unacceptably different times. Solid place overall.
Good lunch. Daughter loved burger; salad very food. Excellent service.
We had a lovely lunch at the Daily Grill. The purpose was to catch up with one another before the crowd set it. The food was hot, fast, and delicious. Thank you Daily Grill for making my day.
Your reception and waiters were quite thoughtful and also fun.
This restaurant is aggressively meh. Meh from the the second we walked in to the moment we got our meh food. I honestly have no idea why it was so busy! The only thing that wasn’t meh was the bill. I have no problem spending money for food, but this place felt like it was 25% too expensive for the value we received.
had an excellent experience at this daily grill. had never been to this location before. love this chain and wish they would open more locations. there used to be one near me and we went there very regularly. really enjoy the trout almondine! their creamed spinach is so good, too. they always have good crusty sourdough bread. wish they were close enough to go to regularly.
We wen and to the Daily Grill with friends, got a quiet table so conversation was pleasant. The crab cake entree and short rib were delicious! The portions were generous, wine list adequate. Prices very reasonable. We'd return on our next DC visit.
The place was out of our first two beer selections from the menu....how are you out of menu items on a Saturday night? Service was very slow, had to send the steak back because it was not cooked to order, etc....just a bad experience all together....
I have noticed that the service has gotten better the last 2 times I have visited Daily Grill. The food has always been great but the service was lacking. Congratulations for bringing Daily Grill back up to par.
Convenient and with a menu that has something for everyone.
This usually excellent downtown restaurant was a bit off Thursday night. There was a slight overcharge on the bill with I didn't notice until the next day. The Pot Pie was too creamy and made me sick overnight.
The person who waited on our table gave outstanding service and attention to us. I have not gotten that kind of service consistently at Daily Grill! Kudos to him!
Our table was late to be greeted, brought water and bread. Also many of our dish orders were wrong.
Enjoyable lunch and appreciated that we were able to talk without any background noise. Service was good, and selection of lunches excellent.
First time and enjoyed my lunch and experience very much.
haven't been to Daily Grill for dinner before, usually lunch, but it was empty and i see why. two other couples were there, and the service was slow, asked for water refills three times, had to ask for silverware, a glass for a bottle of beer and the service was very slow with no one else in the restaurant. looked like the waiter was hiding or mopping the kitchen in between serving. in the reservation,r i mentioned it was a birthday party, i had to remind the waiter, he came back with a melted scoop of ice cream for the individual, with a candle in it, and they charged me for it! there are better restaurants in DuPont Circle, restaurant prices are not inexpensive, and its not worth it! sorry.
did not get any attention from server and steak salad and only 3 small pieces of steak
I always enjoy eating at the Daily Grill. The staff are very courteous and knowledgeable of the menu.
Very mediocre dinner served by a very inattentive waiter. Salads were not delivered ahead of the entree and plates not cleared. Disappointing at best.
Our lunch order took nearly an hour to come and was wrong. Not all the food arrived together. When we finally got our servers attention we asked for the check but she never came back with it, despite passing us numerous times. We went to the receptionist who said she couldn’t help so I left my card and for the first time in my life left without paying. The manager couldn’t bother to call me but sent an apology email.
I have been going here for years. The place just gets worse and worse. Never again
Hopefully it was a one off evening. Not good top to bottom.
It’s been a while since we visited this restaurant.
Food was very good as before however the most disappointment was the poor (unprofessional, inexperience) service.
Wonder if the management changed since our last visit.
Kind of an indication that the restaurant had a quite few open seats.
We sat at table near the bar so it was fairly quiet. The restaurant itself is quite noisy.
They had New England Clam chowder as a special -- which I love. Unfortunately, it was not hot enough.
Food was good and service was excellent. Good value.
Good place for a casual meal that was tasty after a day of touring in DC.
Good compromise between white table cloth formal and casual take away.
It was a good experience. Was there during happy hour and it was not noisy. Good food and service.
I think this is a place I would only try in the evening when I was not in a rush to get to another appointment. We went at lunch time and it was under-staffed, crowded (which it should be in downtown DC) and the customer service was minimal. I would have to ask that they consider having a full staff or management step in when they see how the front of the house is starting to fill up.
Food was ok, but service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. Our server, was either brand new or just not cut out for the job. He was S.L.O.W. He took forever to greet our table and bring us water, and never brought bread to our table. The tables next to us had a different server and were seated after us, both got bread and even got their entrees way before us. Requests for knives, drink refills, etc went unanswered. We asked for coffee with our desserts and that took at least 15 mins. Our desserts also took forever to come out as well. He always had to go back to get things he should have brought out initially, like cream for our coffee, and he would disappear for a while before he returned, so you're left sitting there with coffee you can't drink. Then the bill being $125 for two entrees, two cocktails, and two desserts was steep for service to be horrible and the food being nothing to write home about.
I'm glad we chose Daily Grill for our farewell luncheon. We had a lovely, attentive server. We each enjoyed our meals, and each other's company despite the terrible acoustics. Seriously, it's really loud in that dining room!
This is a sure thing for dinning. It has everything for all. The menu mix is excellent. The service, the food and the presentation are always excellent. Kudos to the management and staff.
I have been here many times and I don't recall the food ever taking as long as it did yesterday. The food once it arrives was good and the service was not bad, but for a work lunch they took way to long to prepare the food.
The short ribs dinner is Amazing
I had the chicken and waffles with bacon and an egg. The chicken was burnt and the egg was overcooked. The bloody Mary's were awesome especially the shrimp garnish.
