Daily Grill - Santa Monica
The Daily Grill in Santa Monica is a great place to gather for lunch or dinner. The appetizers are always cooked fresh and include the famous cutting board. This is a special chefs selection of meats that have been cured, along with a sampling of artisan cheese. Also popular at Daily Grill is the seared rare ahi tuna.
The main course consists of a range of items with chicken, seafood or beef as the primary staple. The parmesan herb crusted chicken is always popular, as is the New York strip steak grilled to order. Daily Grill also has a full bar, making it a great place to gather for those after work cocktails.

Was there on Saturday 1/19/19 for their dinela menu. Had 7:00 res for 4 ppl. Two members of our party wanted the pork chop to find out they were out...very very disappointed... it was a Saturday night not that late and they were out? There’s no excuse. Restaurant should have anticipated this since it was in the middle of dinela week on a Saturday. Hope this doesn’t happen again.
We use to eat at the Daily Grill quite often when they were near the Beverly Center and in Brentwood. Back then the food was much better. We will probably try it again since it's in Santa Monica and convenient to our house.
Love their Lettuce Wedge Salad with blue cheese and bacon.....Good Manhattan Clam Chower, Chicken Pot Pie. Ambiance is very pleasant, but the bar scene creates a bit of noise in the restaurant area. Sourdough bread is the best. Waitress on our last visit was extremely nice.
Like too many restaurants, it was very noisy. Otherwise, it was fine.
Glad to see restaurant was very busy. Service was a bit slow. Food was excellent.
Our dinner was on a Friday night, also the first night of DineLA, which may account for our strange evening. First, it was extremely loud, especially in the bar area. We were taken to a quieter area in the back. Two of us ordered the DineLA menu, one the ahi appetizer and one the trout. We got the wonderful bread and after a bit our soup and salad. Three other tables filled up in our area. We were chatting and time was passing. We noticed everyone around us, seated after us, had all received their food. We spoke to our server who said our plates were coming soon. About 5 minutes later the ahi and trout were served. We were told our main dishes, pork chops, were coming, but both of the fish eaters were nearly finished and still no pork chops. We spoke to the manager, who said we should have been told at the outset that the chops would take 20-25 minutes, was very apologetic, offered us a shrimp cocktail or a soup, something that could be brought right away. We declined, figuring since at least 30 minutes had passed since our appetizers, the chops would come soon. Finally, after about 10 more minutes, they came and were delicious. The manager then told us that our entire check would be covered, which certainly was a gracious way to handle the situation.
We’ve eaten here many times before and never had a problem.
The DineLA menu was a very good value, even before we received it free!
Food and service were terrific. Everyone was attentive to all our requests and the portion sizes were generous and tasty.
Overall it was good. We were seated immediately at our reservation time, however it was very busy and they may have been short staffed because my soup appetizer came out lukewarm (I had them put in a to go container and heated it later) and it took a while before our meals arrived. Our entrees were very good though, so I will probably go again.
Large portions, high quality food, and really great service!
Steak was really super good
We have been going to the Daily Grill for decades and it still has the best Cobb Salad! The meat loaf and pot pies are also tasty and dependable. And their bread is the best. The food never disappoints. It may not win any awards, but we've never had a bad experience at any of their restaurants. And that's why we always come back.
Food was good. Service was great. We had a wonderful waitress who gave us excellent service.
My wife and I had very good and tasty meals there with excellent service. She had the trout and I had the chicken piccata. Also, found the prices for the meals and wines to be reasonable and fair.
The service was outstanding...kudos to Chatan, our server.
very slow service - decent waiter but too slow....!
Wonderful Service and great food.
Almost empty restaurant on a Saturday night. As a result, not noisy.
Very good service.
Food was O.K.
Drinks were good.
I love the comfort of the booth, the ambiance of the restaurant and the courteous service we always receive. The Chicken Pot Pie is great as is the wedge salad.....the bread is outstanding!!!! Ala carte selection of vegetables is excellent. Soups are very good.
Excellent in all respects, especially the service, food, ambiance and parking.
Food took very long. Server was kind and attentive. My salmon was very dry and overcooked.
The food is always good here. We had a little hiccup with a dish we ordered and our server, Gabriela, came forth with care and humor and took care of it with complete satisfaction. Thank you Gabriela
We went early (5:30 pm) on a Sunday so it wasn't very crowded or noisy. The food was good and the service was excellent. Because they have a very popular Happy Hour, it can be very noisy if you come during the week.
The food here is wonderful.
We always enjoy the trout almondine. It is the
best in the city. Also think they make a great
Service was good and the room was quiet and comfortable.
We like this as a good neighborhood find.
Food was good but portions have gotten smaller..Fish and Chips was like kids size fish sticks.
Our Chatan was excellent, the meal was delicious and well presented. Recommend the spinach artichoke dip appetizer and loved the blackberry chop!
The Daily Grill in Santa Monica has had a makeover of sorts. The menu is smaller but the food quality was better. Their gazpacho is really good and I enjoyed the seared tuna salad. A nice place to fall into for pretty good
weak and tired menu and excessively priced. happy hour is still reasonable though
We have been here several times over the years and it never disappoints.
On this night, however, we wanted to try the Friday night special of
the prime rib dinner.
We arrived early to be sure they did not run out of the prime rib,
as they did once with another special.
It was delicious and came with potato and creamed spinach.
We started with soup or salad. We had one of each. They
were both good.
The servers were attentive and checked back often.
We enjoyed the meal and felt very comfortable there.
Our favorite couples and also, with friends, place to go for dinner. Any day or on weekends.
consistently good basic American comfort food we go often
The Daily Grill is exactly what it is: a great place for simple, straight-forward food in a comfortable setting with professional, attentive service. What’s not to like?
We enjoyed our lunch although the Cobb Salad was lacking as there wasn't enough blue cheese and Italian dressing would not be my preferred recipe. The bacon was more like bacon bits than bacon pieces. And, there wasn't much avocado. Seems to me they cut back on the higher cost ingredients to improve their margins but the overall experience was poor as a result. The rest of the food was very good including the vegetarian black bean/quinoa burger and the grilled artichoke. The heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad was uneven as the tomatoes were great but the mozzarella was rubbery and tasteless.
The service was great and the ambiance was very comfortable.
Always enjoy dining at The Daily Grill in Santa Monica. Took my 30 year old grandson and his friend for steak dinner and they loved it.
I thought it was great...too bad they did not check that I had made a reservation.
That left me feeling quite odd.
The food and service at the Daily Grill in Santa Monica was quite good. They do not have a huge menu but most diners will find something to their taste. The regular menu burger seems a little overpriced.
Very good service; good food
will definitely visit again
Boring menu and over priced
Went for the prime beef special and it was inedible.....could not chew....sent it back. Manager was very gracious and did not charge us.
The serving portion was plentiful with above average taste. Good for every day dining.
Value was excellent as my guest had the Wednesday pork chop special and I had the DineLA menu. We shared that dessert, and I even had pasta left over to take home!
Friendly and adept service, too. Plus free parking!
