We had a wonderful helpful waitress who recommended foods for our particular diet. The grilled vegetables were very fresh and the homemade hummus was the best ever!!

Nice place to visit before seeing a show at the Geary or Curran. Our server, Peni, was delightful as always. I hope management rewards her with the ginormous raise she clearly deserves. Cheers, and thanks.

I bring senior citizen tour bus groups to SF for different events like plays, shopping, museums, etc. When we do "meal" on own this is one of the restaurants I recommend to my folks. Is is reasonable and has a good happy hour with excellent and friendly servers/staff. I love going on Wednesdays so I can get the pork chop special. It's always cooked perfectly and I switch up the side dishes and they've all been fantastic! Love the grilled vegetables and loaded mac & cheese!

Clam chowder soup is Manhattan style as per their claim, ie not white creamy but liquid and tomato based. Too many potatoes and celery, very small quantity of clams themselves, which make it cheap and low quality. Moreover the waitresd brought it in hurry and it spilled outside the dish, no excuse and badly presented - see pics.

Grilled salmon was good and well prepared: nice crust outside, tender not dry inside.

All servee very quickly, clearly the owners strive to serve multiple parties on each table every evening, you feel the pressure to east fast and leave... Indeed after swallowing last bite of my salmon I was asked if I was done, if I wanted anything else and in 30s I got the check. "Take your time" they said but 2min later they asked if I was ready to pay. I replied I still had wine iin my glass. They apologized saying they had understood I was in hurry. I replied that maybe they were in hurry to sell the table to someone else. This is not a fast food, given the price I cannot be seated, served a two-meal dinner and pushed out in 40min from coming in. Come on.... :-(

Elliott was our waiter 6/13; we had excellent service, and the food was delicious.
We're looking forward to our next play and dinner!

I love the Daily Grill. There’s something for every palate and the ambiance is casual but with 4 star service. It’s great for a date night or for a bigger party of friends or for solo dining. And they were very accommodating to my diet.

The food was very good - we split the filet mignon and the trout amandine, both simply grilled (no blue cheese crust on the steak) and they were plentiful and nicely prepared. They get a lot right - good service, quality linens etc.

This is a tourist spot. You can obtain much better value for the same dollar nearby -- for instance at bluestem just down the street.

Daily Grill is our go-to when going to the theater. Usually we're there on a Wednesday in order to enjoy their delicious pork chop special, but it is still available other days, and worth the price. We started as usual with the delicious, smoky humuus, then my partner had that pork chop while I had a succulent trout. We also appreciate the fact that two sides are offered with the entree, and there is a good selection to choose from. We were so satisfied with the meal and so had to forego the dessert, but a boubon creme brulee was on offer that sounded wonderful. Our server, Teresa, was exceptional, attentive without hovering. We'll continue to patronize the Daily Grill. Dependable and satisfying.

Good choice if you're going to ACT or the Geary Theater or anywhere around Union Square in SF. Server was attentive & pleasant. Ambiance was relaxing. Food gets a "mixed" review. Partner had the Short Ribs which were quite good. I had the Moroccan Chicken, which sounded good and the server said was a "healthy choice." However, the chicken breast was rather small, but also very dry. I probably should have sent it back, but used the sauce to make it more acceptable. I did tell the server at the end of our meal to please pass this onto the kitchen staff.

Daily Grill is an excellent place to eat before seeing a play. The server asked if we were attending a play and made sure we had enough time to enjoy our meal. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is quiet, a good place to unwind at the end of the week.

We eat at this Daily Grill alot. But this time we were in the bar to have dinner while we watched a basketball game. Though neither the bar nor the restaurant were very busy for a Saturday night, the service was quite slow and somewhat inaccurate (had to send 2 items back for correction). Food is always tasty. A good pre-theater spot.

May not be trendy or gourmet cuisine but this place has a nice accessible menu and the food is very well prepared. Service is great and fast. Excellent for pre-theater meal and they give 10% off if you have theater tickets.

This place reminds me of a New York City restaurant. One dish that is surprisingly good is their cole slaw. Drinks from the bar are great. There is just about everything that a person might want on the menu.

Reservations are suggested in my opinion, especially before or after a play at the nearby Curran or Geary theaters. We got there right after a play but were about 1/2 hour before their dinner service began so we sat in the lounge area before dinner and had happy hour drinks and appetizer. They have the best popcorn shrimp with a delicately-crispy coating. The dinner special that day was a double pork chop with 2 sides included for about half of the regular price, a real bargain. It was perfectly cooked, so thick that I brought half of it home. My sides were mashed potatoes and kale Caesar salad. The salad had a slight surcharge but was was worth it; both were delicious. My daugher had the Angel Hair pasta and it was also delicious. We asked for bread and it was so good, almost like a sourdough texture. I have had their desserts before and they are also delicious but we were so full that we (reluctantly) skipped it this time. Service was great and the chef(s?) are amazing! If you are in that area often it's worth it to sign up for the Daily Grill club, as the perks make it an even better experience.

The hostess ignored us, having just arrived - and the manager was equally rude. When she could have indicated that they would be with us in a moment, we were instead told that the manager just got there...period. No apologies and WE were late for our reservation by 10 minutes AND others were seated. Once past the lousy greeting, our server was awesome and the food good and plentiful.

the daily grill is a very nice place to go just to meet someone and make plans for later. I guess informal is the word, you don't have to stay long and the food is done the way you like it. it seems to be a very nice secret but people will find it very easily and go back.
