Daily Grill - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
Very pricey—especially the apetizers. I irdeted an $18 “extra large crab cake” as my entree and left hungary. Others in my party ordered the cheeseburger which was reportedly wonderful. But for $20, it should be. Had a much better meal at Fisherman’s Wharf the day before for half the price for our party of 5.
Lovely location and atmosphere, but the staff seemed really annoyed we bothered to stop by, beginning with the hostess. Our servers kept switching, most were pleasant enough, but couldn't remember to bring most of the stuff and had to be asked when refills were needed. I asked for a turkey Ruben, which they agree to, but provided warm bread, one piece of deli turkey you could see through, one inch at best of sauerkraut, not worth the calories, but to be fair my friends thought their sandwiches were fine.
Great, as always! Eliot was great, very patient. We've been going for years. Why does this have to be 50 words??!! "Without sacrifice nothing can be attained. But if there is anything in the world that people do not understand it is the idea of sacrifice..... In actual fact they have to sacrifice only what they imagine they have and which in reality they do not have. They must sacrifice their fantasies. But this is difficult for them, very difficult. It is much easier to sacrifice real things.. Another thing that people must sacrifice is their suffering.” G.I. GURDJIEFF
i ordered a basic cheeseburger. how can you screw that up ? the meat was fine but the bun had obviously been toasted earlier... it fell apart when i bit into it. the french fries were the worst i;ve even had. i sent them back because they were cold.. they brought out some more that were just as bad. i told the waiter i wanted fresh hot fries. he came back with some hot fries but when you ate them they were gummy. im guessing the kitchen leaves the frozen fries out all day so that they become mushy before they are cooked. VERY DISAPPOINTING !!! especially when you;re paying $17 for a cheeseburger. it should be spectacular.
My fiancé and I went to the Daily Grill for my birthday dinner. We have always heard such great things about the Daily Grill and decided to try it out for ourselves. We started off with happy hour in the bar. We order drinks and two appetizers. Due to the food taking a while to come out, by the time the food was brought to us, it was time for our reservation. We kindly asked the hostess if we could have our appetizers transferred to our dinner table and she said absolutely not! Happy hour apps were to stay in the bar (even though the same appetizers are on the dinner menu just at full price). Once we finally made it to our dinner table, our waiter gave us the menus and said he would bring us water. We literally waited 15 minutes for our water. At the time he brought the water, we ordered our dinner. The waiter didn't bring us our food, an additional waiter from the kitchen did. Our original waiter never checked back in with us. He simply brought us our bill and left. We made our reservations on open table where I specifically said we were celebrating a birthday. Nothing was done to celebrate my birthday. The waiter didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. We literally saw him 3 times- 1. to bring us menu's 2. bring us our water and take our order 3. dropped the bill off. We will never be back to the Daily Grill and will be sure to spread the word to our family and friends as well. So disappointed.
Good service and good food. The atmosphere was quiet and good for conversation. We tried the Beef Dip and there was a special Crab Cake sandwich. The Crab Cake could have been cooked a bit more but was tasty. The Beef Dip was good with a generous portion of beef.
We made a reservation for 11:30 and we were early. And even though the restaurant was empty everyone was waiting in the reception area to be seated. They did not seat us until 11:50. The staff was friendly, they just seemed ill prepapared stating that they were switching from breakfast to lunch. The food was good but expensive and meals came out wrong. My Bloody Mary was $18.25. That seems exorbanent to me. The bar has good atmosphere and is a good spot to watch sports.
Very noisy...actually so loud, you had to shout to make yourself heard. Server was delightful and very friendly throughout it all. Had the halibut and Moroccan chicken-both quite good. calamari also done to perfection. Good location in the city which made for easy access. Would go back.
Honestly, this was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Had a scheduled private dining dinner for my Courthouse wedding. Was supposed to start at 5:30. Didn’t get seated till 6. After an hour and a half we were only served salad. They gave us bread to hold us over, not sure why we weren’t offered bread in the first place. My dinner was under cooked and my second plate had so much garlic it wasn’t edible. After the main course was served it took another 30-40 minutes to get dessert. I complained of the service several times. After dessert it took another 40 minutes to get my bill. I was also charged for the 2 meals I didn’t even eat. They finally fixed my bill after 30 more minutes. This dinner took 4 hours. Only after beginning to cry my eyes out, due to being so frustrated, did the manager really seem to care. I guess when they have your card on file they don’t care about the quality of service you get, since they got their tip no matter how terrible the service was. At one point, I asked for my bill so I could get on with my life, felt like this nightmare was never going to end. Not only did this ruin my day, but because it took us so long to get out of there, my reservation for my after party got cancelled because we were too late.
Daily Grill is simple fare. Steaks, Chops and Salads. The Cobb salad is big enough for 2 people. The Manhattan Clam soup is superb. Always available not usually on the menu. A bowl is a full meal. Large portions like the pot pie is enough for two. Everything is yummy.
Very dissappoinred. The ratings were good but i can only assume those are from tourists in thr union square location. The morroccan chicken was dry, the bar service was non-existent, the hostess was confused though the crowds were There waiting for a tabke. If not for our waitress, Penny who was wonderful, the whole meal would have been a bust. Usually open table ratings are spot on, this one failed to deliver.
Wasn't pleased with hostess or wait staff. Had 7pm reservation, arrived at 6:30p - they wouldn't seat us earlier. People without reservations got sat before us. Waitress was not happy to be there. When asked for more water, her reply was "When I get a moment". We were there for a birthday celebration. Wasn't the best experience 😢
We went on Christmas and were seated right away. Service was sub par. We had to ask for everything as our waiter did not go the extra mile for anything. A baked potato was ordered and the waiter didn’t bring any sides as butter, sour cream etc. He brought it and left and then then had to wait a while before we could flag down the waiter to ask for some butter etc. The food was good but not generous with anything. You got to order your main entree and one side and everything else was a la carte. The plates looked pretty bare when served. I think if the waiter was better the experience would possibly warrant us to return at some time.
