Daily Grill - Irvine Ratings and Reviews
The venue is good and the location is convenient. Those are the plusses.
The waiter asked me if I had taken the drink order for my dining guests. Really? Wasn't that your job?
I ordered the Moroccan Spiced Chicken, a dish I've had many times before. The chicken was not the same. It was parts of a chicken fused together to resemble a grilled chicken breast, then sliced. Fatty, rubbery, horrible.
What is the point of eating here if the food tastes fake?
This is the second time we have eaten there when visiting Irvine and the food was very good.
We will probably take a break for awhile. We don't eat meat and the fish and veg options are limited and we would like more variety. Meat-eaters would fare better on an ongoing basis with many more options. It really is a nice, quiet restaurant and the food will not disappoint.
This was my 3rd visit. The food, as always was good, freshly prepared & delicious.
My only negative was the service was not very attentive.
The place was not that busy, and we hardly saw our server.
She was pleasant, but water was not poured, ordering dessert seemed an after thought to her.
Small details were not in the forefront of her mind.
I asked for something and she seemed to hear me, but went to clean the next table then came back 5 minutes later with my request. Hum ....
Disappointing and disgusting experience. Been to this Daily Grill 20 times over the years. The entire experience gets worse with each of the past few visits. Food is less quality as it used to be, service is not as good, physical space looks aged and needs some sprucing. Worst of all, a cook walks out of a stall in the men's room, runs water over his hands for 5 seconds (no soap!) and heads back to work. I would have left then if it weren't that my client wanted to stay and eat. Can't the cook read the sign about thoroughly washing their hands?
The food (+ the limitless to-die-for) home made bread served), the service, the price, the ambience ... who could ask for more?
This will be our EXCLUSIVE gathering place in Orange County from now on.
Congrats to the Water Grill team for such an exquisite experience. We shall return, and often!!!
The breakfast potatoes were extremely salty. If I went back I'd go for lunch. Also, my friend had Eggs Benedict, and the Canadian bacon had a lot of gristle in it. I'd go back, because they had tons of other delicious sounding items. I'd likely go for lunch though. Service was excellent. Free "monkey bread" with my breakfast was yummy. Restaurant was very nice inside and the booths allowed for more privacy.
Once upon a time this was one of our favorite places. Over the years the quality and portion size have gone down and the prices have skyrocketed.
Service is rushed and the lack of care time that once made this place a nice spot is also gone.
This place is fine if your hungry, not too picky about cold mashed potatoes and $16 burgers.
Always reliable for tasty dishes. My friend and I were very happy to see our favorite dessert back on the menu: Strawberry Shortcake. Yum. We were also happy to be able to get Sand Dabs, despite it not being listed officially. (You have to ask for it and hope they have it.) That is truly our favorite entree.
This is my 'go-t0' lunch spot when I have out of town colleagues visiting our office. Using Open Table, it' easy to get a reservation. Once we let our server know we were on a time schedule the food and check came out quickly. The food is good and quality is consistent. It's a bit noisy for a business conversation, but the food and service make up for that.
Turkey meatballs inedible. Server gave us wrong menu. Ordered French dip only to be told 10 min later not on dinner menu. Had to constantly be trying to find waitress. Ate in bar area. Took 45 min to get food. Told waitress about not being able to eat meatballs. All she said was sorry. Won't be back soon. Live across the street and used to eat there st least 1 x a week. No more. Sorry
Had a nice table for two by the window. My cheeseburger was excellent and just what I was in the mood for. My friend had a BLT with egg, that he said was great. But what was really outstanding was our server, Deanna, who regularly refilled our drinks without our asking and who is just a fun person. We had a lot of laughs with her and, especially for my friend, laughter was exactly the medicine he needed.
Food was tasty and loved the healthier options. Service was really poor. Took forever to be seated and we had a reservation during a non-busy time. Server hardly came back to check in us or refresh drinks. I got up at one point and went to the hostess stand to ask a question. Stood there for a good amount of time while three employees walked by without even glancing at me.
Created a same day reservation that was made. When I arrived the manager began arguing with me that they don't take same day reservation with OpenTable. Its either OT is in error or the manager had no idea what he was talking about. Thank goodness they had no wait at the time. Overall - Great food.
The menu has been "streamlined" since we were last at the Daily Grill. I had the chicken pot pie which was terrific and my wife had the pork chop with berry glaze that she liked very much. The server recommended the cheesecake for dessert and we were not disappointed. Their coffee is quite good also.
