At DaiLo, we believe eating well is a fundamental part of living well, and how we cook, reflects how we live. Thoughtful and high quality ingredients lead to better lives and more delicious meals. Our New Asian Cuisine is predominantly Chinese fare but it follows the French tradition. At the heart of the menu is a love and respect for the dishes Chef Nick Liu ate growing up as the son of Hakka parents in Canada, but importantly, they are the dishes his ancestors have been eating for hundreds of years. Ancient favourites are augmented by Liu’s signature flair and updated to suit the western palate and the modern demand for local and sustainable ingredients.

DaiLo Ratings and Reviews
As a vegetarian, I really enjoyed this restaurant! The waitress actually gave you her full attention and added to the experience with her calming presence. I'm really happy I stumbled upon this place. Their tofu feature and their pumpkin dumplings are wow!
I must warn you, it tastes so good you will notice that the portions are not enough
The waiter was well informed and was very personable. He removed one of the dishes off our bill that we didn’t like (kale and chicharron salad). And in addition to that, he brought out a mini sorbet dessert (without dairy for my husband) for my husband’s 30th birthday. Great experience overall, we’ll be back again! Thanks DaiLo!
In a word -- extraordinary. First time there and I wasn't sure what to expect, even though my son raved about it. Food was sublime -- lobster on a bed of crispy noodles, delicately truffles pumpkin dumplings, their take on ma po tofu to name a few. They were very accommodating of the pescatarian in the group. Service was impeccable - Jeffrey was well versed and charming and Shannon kept our glasses full. Great decor and ambiance. Will be back soon
Service and ambiance was TOP notch! The tasting menu is very worth it if you are trying dai lo for the first time. I would definitely recommend their small plates over their entrees though. I had the duck and the presentation was beautiful, but the meat was a little dry. Their small plates on the other hand are absolutely incredible. My Top 3 Picks: Sweet and sour pork. Ma Po Tofu. Octopus Tacos.
I have had 3 excellent meals at Dailo. The food is interesting and delicious, and the service is very good. Their drink selection is good too - I enjoy their cocktails, my husband appreciates their beer selection. My one complaint is that the tasting menu took 3 hours to get through, which isn't uncommon, but is too long for my personal preference and comfort.
Enjoyed my time here once again. As the menu changes seasonally, I haven't become jaded by the food here. Especially tasty we're the pumpkin/squash dumplings in a soy/butter sauce with perigord truffle shavings. Wine and drinks selection was extensive enough to satisfy all but the pickiest diner. A return will not come soon enough.
Overall fantastic experience. The dumplings were our favourite. We could have been seated at a more private table, as the conversation next to us was sort of distracting and there was plenty of room. Consider providing knifes for food that is difficult to cut with fork/chop sticks.
It is New Year’s Eve and the quaint experience at DaiLo was exquisite. On an extremely cold night, it was an excellent prix fixe menu put together by the Chef that had not a single low point. Our favourites though - the Oysters and Pearls; the Miso Jerusalem Artichoke dumplings; and the 90-day dry aged ribeye. Our waitstaff was tremendous. The meal was also well-paced. This has been one of the best meals in the city and we tend to go out A LOT and try a lot of good food. An excellent value as well. We will be back!
I was really excited to try DaiLo especially after dining at Niagara Street Cafe so often as the food there was special. I was very disappointed in every dish we ordered - all of the flavours were so dumbed down that the food was tasteless. I am not sure how you can achieve that with Peking duck! We will not be back which is a shame because the service was outstanding and the decor was inviting. I will stick to Richmond Hill for Chinese cuisine at a fraction of the price - not the same service but at least the food has some pop.
Went for my dad's 65th birthday and everyone loved it. Staff were great about the vegetarian in the group, accommodating and pleasant. The food was all beautiful and delicious and the wine recommended to us was wonderful. Definitely special-occasion prices, but absolutely worth it!
I just don't get it. It was SO highly recommended. And yet...not great. First off, it's pricey. I ended up spending 150 bucks US for two people. Second, for that money, we left hungry. Seriously. There was just not enough food. And third, it is LOUD in there. Like the kind of loud where holding a basic conversation was impossible because the loud guy and loud girl three tables down carry through the whole place.
Maybe that's why the service was inconsistent. Maybe they couldn't hear us. And one of their big special things - the big mac bun - they didn't even tell us about. i saw it going by and flagged someone down to ask about it. It was good and also very expensive. But because it's off menu you really depend on the staff to clue you in. They didn't. I had to dig.
To top it all off, when we got home, my date got very...intestinally distressed. So, yeah all in, i get the idea of wanting to do asian fusion. But you should maybe get it somewhere else.
Truly a great food spot with creative dishes and off menu gems. I was just disappointed we could not eat more as there was plenty to choose from that were very enticing. Lambs neck was fantastic and really tasty as was the jellyfish slaw. The bone marrow off menu item looked great but we were done for and could not order. Highly recommend and will be back the next time I am in Toronto.
Fabulous, innovative food. The octopus tacos were incredible- who would ever think of using jicama slices as a tortilla! And the trout was a work of art and delicious, with three sauces to compliment the fish. We were surprised to read the few negative reviews on Open Table - obviously folks who didn't appreciate Asian fusion with a flare. This restaurant is a must if you are in the area!
