What Insiders Are Saying
Dai Due is the epitome of a modern Texas restaurant done right.
A great menu, fabulous food at night very knowledgeable waitress made our dining a fabulous event.
The food and service are unquestionably up there with the best in Austin. They’re efforts show, and as Austin’s restaurant boom keeps growing it is important to patronize restaurants that truly represent the city. A lot of these new players could learn a lot from Dai Due and their attention to detail that allows them to create some of the cities best food while fostering the semi-casual, weird style that is Austin.
Supper Club is always great. Best fried chicken around.
Just go. Fantastic food and great service.
We had read about the wonderful cheeseburgers so went for Mother’s Day. Burgers were out of this world! Loved the Texas only wine list with reasonable pricing. Service was a little slow, but it was Mother’s Day. Servers were friendly. We’ll be back!
Dai Due is outstanding in every respect. Linguine with venison and mushrooms was amazing, as was the wild boar confit. Basque cake stole the show, which is saying something considering how stellar everything was. Best dining experience I've had in Austin hands down.
Dai Due exceeded all expectations for an enjoyable birthday dinner for two. We started with the charcuterie board, ate our way through the wagyu beef and duck confit, then polished off the duck egg custard. It was hard to stop eating, the food was so delicious. The staff were all very friendly and had great wine pairing suggestions. I highly recommend visiting this place if you are looking for a special night out.
The locally sourced, wine and fresh food concept and interesting menu drew us. But in reality, the flavors were not particularly unique or interesting. I had a dish with shrimp, rice and green beans- the shrimp were very overcooked but I did enjoy the abundance of green vegetables. The custard dessert I ordered was sent back and exchanged for another because the taste wasn't passable. I really wanted to like the food, but didn't. I wouldn't return. The menu was overpriced, especially considering the quality of experience. Parking in the back- may not be adequate during peak times.
Best farm to table cuisine in Austin, we always make the trip from north Austin to enjoy!
Quality is first when it comes to Dai Due. Being a local butcher shop and supper club, they take their food seriously and focus on local ingredients. That being said, keep your expectations low for assuming that something should be on the menu. I took my friend visiting from Japan here for dinner and was looking forward to sharing a steak with them. Unfortunately, they ran out of steak by 8PM. We instead had their pork chop, a chicken liver mousse as an appetizer, and a side of their seasonal vegetables. While I was a little flustered that my friend couldn't experience steak, the pork chop made up for it.
Noise is not too much of a concern as long as the right party sits next to you. We sat next to a group of college guys talking loudly so I was glad when they left. We were seated in a mid row area where the tables aren't very intimate. It was more of a shared community space. Something to also keep in mind if privacy is important to you.
Overall, aside from small observations which I know are nitpicking, Dai Due is a great place to visit for dinner if you're serious about food. If you arrive early for dinner, you'll have more options for dinner, and you'll likely get a nice seat as well. I'll definitely come back again and show other friends this restaurant which I believe represents Austin well.
Delicious food, knowledgeable and friendly servers. The mixed grill was phenomenal, we all enjoyed our meal and evening at Dai Due
We had the Supper Club menu......let's just say too varied to try and recount and it was all very, very good....some unique flavor/spice combinations made it extra special...the best thing was the SERVICE.....our waitress brought dessert with a tiny lit candle on the plank for the wife's as it was her birthday....HOWEVER, I never told anyone this was a birthday dinner.....staff did this on their own from observation of me filling out cards prior to wife's arrival....this is beyond regular good service....if you seek locavore 'rustic gourmet' fare with incredible service, this is your place.....continuing kudos to Jesse & Tamara....
We have been to Dai Due twice in the past four years and it is always an amazing meal and beautiful concept!
Had a great evening. Would go again. For a place that exudes a meat forward persona, the meat was a disappointment. All at the table agreed the charcuterie board was below average. The chicken was fantastic. The pork chop a disappointment, being a little dry and smaller than expected (though not smaller than reasonable). They built the expectations. They need to have a prayer meeting about the drink selection. Texas wine was completely drinkable, but at those prices, drinkable should not be the standard. Finally, the basque cake dessert was ridiculously good. If we had it to do over again, it would be sides and desserts and byob.
Always a great menu full of in house butchered meats and local produce (if not grown there!)! An Austin TX must. Great TX wine list, organic and pressed teas & coffee. Almost always have brunch during the week for a lunch option too (I highly recommend)! Outdoor seating available (super cute). If you want hospitality, unique but not crazy, and delectable Texas meal, go here.
Always well done
Thank you for all the effort you put into sourcing well, using excellent fats, and keeping it truly local
We love the ever changing menu. It’s always fun to see “what’s on the menu tonight?” We had a swordfish with cilantro rice and a boar confit that was outstanding!
Everything on the menu looked really good. I forget what it was called, but my husband and I decided to try the meal for two that had meats and desserts. It cost over $100 and the meats were okay, but they were literally cooked all the exact same. Grilled with a little bit of crunch to them. For that price, you would expect a variety, so that was disappointing. Our waitress was sweet though and the building itself was cool. I would recommend the restaurant but I would personally want to try a different dish.
We did not care for the food or the fact that the online menu was representative of what they offer. Therefore, the two items I'd chosen - cauliflower-leek soup and masa fried oysters were not available. The menu is very concentrated on meats which is also not my choice. The smoked oyster and chicken heart appetizers were just okay. The only thing I enjoyed was the butterscotch pudding and the service was great. We feel the menu is very experimental; perhaps we are just not cool enough to appreciate it.
Dai Due has the best pork chop I've ever had.
My only complaint is that I ordered the burger with no pickles, and my burger came with pickles (which I HATE). When I told the waitress, the kitchen just took the pickles off, but the burger still tasted like pickles. That was disappointing for a $20 burger.
It’s a supper club and small bar in the rear of a gourmet butcher shop. Everything is locally sourced, including the beer and wine. No hard liquors unfortunately. We had the evening’s special mixed grille, with a Central American theme. It’s a bit expensive, but worth it.
Great service from one of the managers. The pork chop was amazing and the local Texas wine was great.
Made a reservation just in case since we were coming Fromm San Antonio, wasn’t necessary but I always recommend one. The food was great and the server was knowledgeable. I have celiacs and though the server knew items I could eat at the table she made sure the food we were interested in was safe. I always appreciate when servers double check. The food was amazing. The wild boar lettuce wraps was our favorite. Can’t wait to go back and try more food.
This was our second time at Dai Due, and it was just as amazing as the first! They were accommodating of my dietary restrictions and the service was amazing. We definitely won’t be waiting a full year to come back. Love this place!!
Excellent food. Great butcher shop. Really open and high ceilings. Was incredibly loud. Hard to hear my husband. For reference we are in our 30s and this was the first time I’ve noticed a restaurant being this loud.
The food was outstanding with interesting flavors and combinations. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere. We were seated in a booth with a large window overlooking a rock garden. And while the restaurant was full, we felt like our table;e was private and didn't really hear our neighbors talking. Between the food and ambiance, we had a wonderful meal.
A friend and I met for lunch and split the lettuce wrap and quail salad. Both were delicious! Paula was the epitome of what a great server should be, gracious, attentive and discreet. She brought extra plates, utensils and kept our table clean and water full. By making a reservation, I was able to notify the restaurant ahead of time about celebrating a birthday so it was a real surprise when the cake arrived. Having the dessert comped was a nice touch. It was a truly delightful experience. Thank you Paula and Dai Due for a superb lunch!
Food was excellent, waitress was excellent, but since we sat in the front table, not in the dining room, she didn't come back often and we waiting about 20 minutes after everyone was eating for our check.
Was excited to try Dai Due but we found the food to be over buttered, seasoned and/or oily. My steak was over cooked and over seasoned and the kale was drenched in oil and sauce.
Potatoes Caroline were hands down best potatoes ever. Definitely will be back.
It was so hard to get into this place, I guess my expectations were too high. First, we walk in for a 5:30pm reservation - the place is completely empty except for one party. We asked for a booth and they wouldn't give it to us - they were all reserved. The hilarious part is the booths were still empty when we left, so that seemed unnecessary to not let anyone else sit there. The food is all pork - no steaks or anything else. The menu is small, so unless you want pork, don't go. We had an appetizer that was bland - didn't finish it. Had to chase down our waitress a couple of times, even though the place was empty. So I guess I didn't get the allure - maybe I went on an off night, but it was empty the whole time we were there and there at least 10 other restaurants in town that I would have rather been at.
Love this place! Excellent food and service. All local products, including the wines which are lovely as well!
The hamburget was really good! The wine too, but a little expensive
Definen will go back!
This place never disappoints. The food is amazing and real, the service always spot on and the overall vibe is so "Austin". Continues to be one of our favorite places.
Got a lunch rez on short notice and took some work friends. The food was delicious, service fantastic, price reasonable, and atmosphere very nice.
I had a great time! Dinner was great. My cousin and I got to enjoy our Grandad’s 70 year old bottle of wine and the staff was very interested and so nice. I will be back again.
Lots of well-prepared meat. Would like more vegetable sides. Generally overpriced.
College girls reunion weekend
Service was amazing! Food was delicious.
