On a recent trip to Seattle, our last minute dinner at Dahlia ended up being our favorite meal. We enjoyed the oysters, crab appetizer and our waiter recommended the morel appetizer (amazing). The gnudi and the lamb chop entrees were both delicious with artful presentations. Though the coconut cream pie was recommended, we opted for the fresh, hot donuts and ice cream with espresso martinis!
I ordered the lamb chops and asparagus, while my dinner companion ordered the roast duck. Both meals were over seasoned by a lot, but were editable. My dinner companion ordered a “lemon cocktail”. It arrived after 15 minutes and was so tart that she had to then get a glass of Sprite and dilute it by half to make it drinkable. I had a couple of glasses of $15 a glass Pino Noir. It was very good. Desert was also very good. We ordered the strawberry custard pie and chocolate moose. The restaurant adds a 20% tip to the bill, which is normally what I put anyway, if the service was good, which it wasn’t. The waiter was obviously overburdened. In all the meal left our lips shriveled and with a $198. bill, and marginal service, it was disappointing
I saw Mr. Tom Douglas outside of Daliha and said Hi and he responded, but it is one of those once in a life time things I wish I would have ask him to take a photo . I wish I would have gotten
Great service, delicious food, and it was easy to communicate with 5 people at the table. Thank you!
The crab cakes were so tasty. Three of us each had different dishes and each was terrific. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. We were encouraged to take our time and enjoy being there. And of course we shared a huge slice of coconut cream pie.
Dahlia Lounge always manages to exceed my expectations. As always, the welcome was warm and authentic. Loved our center-of-the-scene table. Alexander, our server, was a perfect combination of professional and personally engaging.
The food will haunt my imagination for weeks! Highly recommend our choices: Tuna tartare, and fantastic morels in cream on toast to start; crab cakes and halibut entrees; a chocolate mousse medley and Victoria sponge with strawberries for dessert ... ravishing.
We started with cherry and rhubarb mules and ordered a very nice Sancerre bottle with dinner. An absolute pleasure from start to finish. Can’t wait to return!
We really enjoyed our meal here to celebrate a family milestone. The parking nearby was convenient and the service and food was excellent.
It was great
Meh. I use to go here for business dinners and special occasions about once a year. But, a few years ago, I went for a family special occasion dinner. The entrées were meh all around the table. Well, daughter's college graduation was upon me and thought I'd go back to Dahlia. Wow, Meh again. The $5 basket of bread and butter was tasty. The crab cakes which disappointed a few years ago, disappointed again. Two the size of a silver dollar were nothing to write home about. They qualified as an entrée I suppose due to the bed of greens on which they were served. Salmon was okay. Cocktail was notable for being on the weak end. Wine was okay. 20% service charge already added to the bill. I am going to call it. This one has jumped the shark.
The food was excellent
I’ve been to Dahlia many times and I’m never disappointed. The wine list is inventive and good, the wait staff is very good and helpful. Do try the bread salad and always end the meal with the beignets!
Dahlia Lounge has been one of my Seattle restaurant favorites for at least 20 years, and it never fails to provide a wonderful dining experience. On a long weekend trip to Seattle recently, I recommended we make this one of our dinner choices, and we were rewarded with the best evening of the whole trip. We started our meal with the Tastes from the Sea sampler and were pleased that while the flavor profiles were familiar, the individual offerings were new to us. The Tom Douglas food scene continues to rock my world!
The food was excellent except the duck was tough... very good flavor but not at all tender. The morel mushroom appetizer was fantastic. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. It is a little expensive for me except for special occasions. Our bill was over $330 for three people. It was a lovely experience overall.
Food was fantastic and service was attentive.
Quality ingredients and portion sizes just right.
Three entrees, and they covered all the possibilities: The crab cakes were excellent, full of crab and very tasty; the lamb chops were very good; and the ricotta gnudi left one wondering why all the effort that had gone into them produced such a bland result. Service was excellent, ambiance was pleasant, noise level was to be thankful for (could actually converse easily, a rarity in many restaurants now). Overall, a good experience, with one low point.
Excellent meal and attentive service. Happened to be there during morel mushroom season and the morels on toast were so rich and delicious--I'd go back just for that! Wood fired bread salad was scrumptious (not too bread heavy) and so were the made to order donuts!!
My wife and I spend most of the week apart due to work responsibilities. Friday night was our first chance to spend some together at a meal. Dahlia provided us with an opportunity of have an exceptional meal in a friendly atmosphere.
Wonderful food and service! Delicious!
Food was " swimming in spices " to the point that both my wife and I were coughing and needed water to stop it.
Copper River salmon had just arrived, and my entree was outstanding and well worth the price. Sides were selected to complement the entree. Cocktails were generous and well-made. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Pleasant neighborhood vibe, and quiet enough to carry on a conversation. Overall, great dinner and service!
Fantastic duck and lamb! Terrific service, thanks Kelly!
Lovely old world Asian charm from the custom designed fish lamps to the paper made chandeliers. Food was delicious. We had the lamb. But, the hit of the evening was the homemade donuts with special cream and jelly. Literally the main reason we’ll go back.
Great service, good wine selection, great food and the triple coconut cream pie is not to be missed.
My halibut was done perfectly, not overcooked and dry as it is too often (elsewhere). Great martini using local gin. Attentive, not rushed service from Maureen.
Food was delicious for brunch, lots of options for all dietary needs. But our waiter was so unfriendly. He never once cracked a smile or common pleasantry one time.
I have been to this place four times in the past five years as I live in New York City. Every time it is phenomenal. This is one of the best restaurants in the country as it is outstanding each and every time I come five stars
We have eaten in Dahlia Lounge each time we have visited Seattle over the past ten years and we have found it a very pleasant place to eat. Great food, service and ambience. One of Seattle's best.
After a couple of decades of enjoying the Dahlia at least once a year, each time I return it feels like I am trying something brand new in the same setting. This is due primarily to the emphasis on seasonally fresh food. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful, among the best in the Seattle area. Prices, which include a gratuity, are a little high for downtown Seattle, but there is real value here. You really do get more than you pay for. And the ambience is perfect for either a business meal or a date.
My favorite Seattle restaurant. I am sure I've been here at least a dozen times and always leave satisfied and happy.
It was fun! As my first name is Dahlia!!! A friendly place...
We took a friend who was visiting from out of town. We love the menu and the decor. The coconut cream pie is always a show-stopper!
Lackluster food and service compared to previous visits.
Had dinner before a concert so unfortunately we had to rush and had to skip dessert
First visit to Tom Douglas’s iconic restaurant after hearing about it for years, and it was well worth the wait. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The food hit on all levels. The highlight of the meal was the poached duck egg over Campanella pasta with pecorino and chive blossoms. If I can coax Tom into giving me this recipe it’s one I’d love to recreate at home.
Best dinner out in quite some time, the Douglas restaurants never disappoint.
Always great! Our waitress was excellent. One of our all time favorite restaurants in Seattle...and in general. We travel often. The quality and freshness of the food is fabulous!
Just average- not worth going out of the way to eat at.
We love Dahlia Lounge! Order anything and you will love it. Anything falls short of expectations--just tell your server and they will fix it right away.
My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary and a new job after being apart for a couple of weeks. We could not have asked for a better experience - our waiter arrived with champagne to kick off our celebration, the restaurant was quiet enough to enjoy our conversation, the menu was terrific and the food was even better, and our service was attentive and not intrusive.
Long standing favorite in downtown Seattle. Great food, great service. Will return time and time again.
