D'Agnese's at White Pond Ratings and Reviews
Table for 4 at 5p and the unkempt hostess lead us to the farthest, coldest, empty back seating area of the restaurant! Requested a change in seating, and she seemed very annoyed; but did seat us mid-restaurant at a booth (mind you, restaurant was basically empty at this time). Our server, Michelle, was also unkempt and didn’t provide high-level service. She seemed rushed and put off that it took some time to make decisions. The appetizers were delicious - risotto balls, and the artichoke d’agnese. Cesar salad also very good. I ordered shrimp piccata, and it was as major fail as the flavors did not come together and were overcome by the large amount linguine. I expressed my dissatisfaction with my entree. The server asked if I wanted a box, and was completely unconcerned that I was unhappy with the dish. Overall not satisfied with an otherwise moderately expensive meal. We have had better service at much less expensive restaurants; and more care from management of customer not satisfied.
Had an enjoyable business lunch on a Friday. Only complaint was that we had to signal and tell the waiter that we were ready to order, and then food was not delivered to the proper customers. Not huge deals, but we were there before the restaurant filled up, so it was a slight annoyance. Food was delicious and come out quickly. Service was the only negative remark.
My husband and I recently visited D'Agnese's to celebrate a life milestone, and the food was fantastic! It is our new favorite Italian restaurant in the Akron area. My husband ordered the chicken Marsala, and swore that it was the best he's ever had. The atmosphere was great, and perfect for a nice date. We will definitely be back!
I made the reservations for party of 8 online and when we showed up for dinner I was told the "computer" put us in the bar area. There was a couple of musicians in there playing and it was very loud. I'm not sure why a party of 8 would be scheduled in the bar area. The hostess only had a table for 6 to offer us and we had to squeeze 2 more chairs in which wasn't terrible but I feel the online reservations should be reviewed and made sure people are seated appropriately. Jake our server was awesome and the food was very good.
After years of my family coming here and talking up how great it was, perhaps I had an extremely high expectation. Or, what is more likely, my family is not a good judge of fine food or service and happy with mediocrity. My idea of a good night out with friends, is to have a great time with great service and great food. If there is something that I feel is MORE important of those 2, it would be great service. There was nothing wrong with the meals that were chosen and eaten by our party of 5. They were good, just not great or memorable. Well-priced and hearty. The service would have been the thing to improve on. Upon arrival when the bar was really blazing with a loud band and singer, we did not meet our host for a long 8-9 minutes. We stood waiting and were passed by many servers without recognition that we were there nor waiting for our reservation. Finally when the hostess arrived, she was somewhat welcoming in a backhanded compliment sort of manner - not a good first impression. Our server was really funny and nice but completely off the mark on quality of detail or caring. When our first courses/bread and dippers arrived, we had to ask for cutlery which should have been placed before we sat down. When the wine was presented, it was a different year than what was advertised. There was no apology or "let me make this better" and "I hope we still can find the year on the menu for you." It was brushed off as if this was not a big deal and not important. Maybe to some. But I will not be back nor will I recommend this to my friends. These were not isolated incidents (too many to list in the space allotted), but I still enjoyed my experience with my friends as we overcame and brushed off the indiscretions in quality dining.
This is my 6th time and I'm still impressed and so was my friend. I recent a couple their to celebrate and they also loved the food and atmosphere. Thursday our waitress was excellent and efficient. I tried the chicken marsla and loved it. We also had the Arincini which is totally awesome. We look forward to coming again very soon.
I chose this restaurant after reading the many great reviews, but left disappointed. When my Filet Oscar arrived at the table, the overwhelming fishy smell of bad crabmeat filled the air (attracting 2 flies we annoyingly shooed as we ate, causing us to go elsewhere for dessert). Although my steak was perfectly cooked, everything on the plate took on the flavor of the raunchy crabmeat. The asparagus was miniscule and the overall dish was salty. My father ordered pasta, which was fair. The marinara was thin and lacked the Italian flavor I'm used too. The drinks and the service were both good, but we will not return any time soon.
Delicious dinner as always. Unfortunately our server was very unhappy to be there! Brian never made eye contact and barely spoke. And he certainly didn't make us a priority - gone for quite awhile without checking in to see if we needed anything - one reason to skip dessert! While we don't need (or want a best friend), some engagement making us feel welcome would be appreciated. It was a very cold atmosphere and makes us question returning anytime soon.
I made a reservation through open table. Open table asked me if it was a special occasion and I responded with my wedding anniversary.
When I arrived at the restraint with my wife, I told the hostess that we had a 5:00 reservation for Johnson. She said, "I'll put you in a booth, bit we'll need your table by 6:30.".
I replied; " Thank you, but I'd prefer you place us at a table where I'm not rushed to eat my dinner in a certain amount of time."
I didn't appreciate that the first thing presented to me by D'Agnases was that I needed to be finished eating by 6:30. Not classy at all.
Side note: nothing was mentioned about my anniversary by anyone in the facility. My question is this: If nothing is mentioned to me or my wife about my anniversary, then what is the purpose of the probing questions through the open table app?
My wife and I have always enjoyed coming here for special occasions. The server was a nice young girl who did a great job and provided great service. The only issue was that the red snapper was very dry and overlooked. The presentation was beautiful and the dish tasty, but the fish itself was quite disappointing.
My wife's fettuccini alfredo was perfect and on point.
I expressed three times I wanted meat sauce on my pasta when giving my order to make sure she understood. My pasta came with no meat sauce. When I told her she said she would get me some on the side, then never did. It was my 40th anniversary I was celebrating with my family. I did not want to make a scene so I said nothing further. My sons entre' portion was so small that his fiancee' asked him if he got a child's portion. We had to ask the waitress if we could get more drinks after having only one. On a day and night I wanted everything to go perfectly, these aspects at restaurant were the only downer which ended our day.
The fodd was very good, especially the Daily Pecial appetizer of sautéed shrimp and artichoke hearts with DiAgnese's lemon butter sauce. But I want to give special credit to our waiter, Jake. He was attentive without being obtrusive. He was knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and offered recommendations that were perfect. And, he was friendly, funny, and gracious! Simply, a terrific waiter.
