I absolutely love the food and if a reservation is made via Open Table, they will hold your table for as long as reasonably possible if you call and let them know you are running late. It is very loud there, tho and the accent barrier can make ordering sometimes difficult. The service is not the best, but nothing that would stop me from going back. I’ve been there twice this month when I was in the City and both times the place was packed. The food is excellent and if yiu call and ask about parking, they will give you the closet place to park.
The service was outstanding! Server very courteous and professional, along being attentive. A very nice place with a pretty good menu. The grilled octopus appetizer was excellent! The first time to have octopus and it was a huge win. Grilled perfectly, sessoned with herbs and a bit of lemon, and very tender.
The moussaka was also very good. The downside was the dish seemed a bit heavy on the bechemel topping for my taste. A thinner layer would have been just as flavorful with a bit less heavy richness, in my view. The dish was seasoned very well with plenty of ground beef and potatoes in layers, similar to a casserole type dish. Overall it was really tasty and very filling.
The baklava was a huge disappointment. A large enough piece for the price point, but very dry, with a portion that was very overcooked to the point of being burned on the bottom. The honey drizzle was practically non-existent, and it was virtually impossible to cut with a knife and fork to eat it easily. Had the rest of the dining experience not been so pleasant, flavorful, and impressive, I would have made a bit of a fuss over this huge miscue; but in the grand scheme of the dining experience, this was the only miss. A big one, as it is a Greek restaurant and baklava should be a flawlessly executed dessert.
Overall, a nice lunch but pass on dessert and go down the street to another locale for the sweet ending to an otherwise wonderful meal.
Bit of a tie up upon arrival, but staff was good about getting people seated. The saganaki cheese was incredible. The octopus appetizer was very tender and delicious. Meat dishes very good, seafood brochette was over cooked and dry. Only Greek wines, but ask for help and you can get something very nice. Super helpful service, really friendly place. Generous portions. A fine experience overall. But definitely get the cheese appetizer!
Very crowded but service amazing. Delicious food. Great staff
Convenient to theatre district. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed on a Saturday night.
Family-owned and operated, and it shows. Wonderful food and friendly, efficient staff.
It was very busy so the wait for service was long. The staff was very courteous.
This is a nice reasonable choice for dining around the Times Square theatre area. Some really nice Greek foods such as moussaka and the pork.
Restaurant and service were nice enough but the food was just meh. With so many dining options in nyc, I suggest going somewhere else.
Excellent Greek restaurant near times Square. Not overrun with tourists. Very excellent lamb, chicken and Moussa. The baklava is a must! Very reasonably priced for the quality of food. Highly recommend!
Place was very clean, service was phenomenal, Katerina served us with a smile and was very pleasant, and she was very busy but was always on point and everything was excellent. Food was excellent, and great wine selection.
My husband and I went here before a show. The staff were warm and welcoming. The food was excellent and plentiful (we shared 4 appetizers, rather than Havana entrees, and couldn’t finish all of it. Highly recommend and will be back!
A more reasonably-priced Theater District restaurant with plentiful, tasty portions.
I don't know if it is because of a staffing shortage, but even at 5:15 PM, they didn't have Spinach Pie and, at 6, we had the last piece of baklava in the restaurant. Hopefully, that will be resolved soon.
It was good and service good
I have been eating there for many years, pre-theater. The food is consistently very good, and the service is excellent. We were later than usual for our show, but with the quick and efficient service we made our show with time to spare!
People at the table next to us were extremely loud and we could barely hear ourselves converse in normal toned.
Wonderful gracious service and the food is delicious. Both versions of the moussaka - vegetarian-style and with meat - were big hits. The fried calamari was perfect and the warm fresh pita plentiful. It's not a fancy place...pleasant and comfortable but not fancy. Our favorite pre-theater meal for shows close to 42nd street. It's one of our regular favorites.
I’ve eaten in Times Sq many times. Recently discovered this gem. The Greek food is fantastic & the service is quick & friendly. Amazing octopus, lamb shank & grilled whole fish. It’s now my new favorite restaurant in the area.
We had an enjoyable experience.
The food was outstanding
The service was great.
We did not feel rushed and the place was crowded.
Will definitely go back there
The Greek salad !!!
Delicious food, great ambiance, and terrific service! Everyone was attentive and made you feel welcomed and at home. Had dinner pre theater and the service was at the right pace, not rushed and extremely enjoyable. I highly recommend!
Best rice pudding I’ve ever had!
So glad this neighborhood gem survived the pandemic.
Place was clean, good food, reasonable prices for NYC. Quiet. We had a good time and we did not feel rushed as well.
Not sure what happened to the recent reviewer who complained that portions had gotten smaller and service bad. We had a feast for two last night from 4 appetizers. The service was attentive and friendly - stopped by for brief chats and empty plates never sat for long on the table. They poured our wine for us. By the way, the wine list is very affordable with some nice choices. The real problem with portions is saving room for the baklava, which is a must. This remains a great undiscovered resource for pre-theater.
Amazing food and service!
I have been going to this restaurant many many years, and yesterday was very disappointing. The entries were smaller then usual and the quality of food did not meet the usual standards. The service was absolutely slow, I had to ask to order, ask for a drink basically ask for everything there was no “service”, not to mention dinner took very very long from start to finish. Most importantly I had made a reservation weeks prior with specific directions for my husbands 40th birthday, I even called the day before to make sure that they had a happy birthday desert for him but unfortunately it did not happen. After the overall experience, I didn’t expect it to with everything else not being great. It is sad to say, but I’ve been a loyal customer for years and I think that was my last time coming here. Very sad.
No decafe coffee or tea; no herbal tea. No deserts that were not swimming in carbs or sugar, two of the four were in honey. Not good for a diabetic or someone on the way to one of the news show with no intermission!
Dafni is our pre-theater go to restaurant. They have never failed me: food is excellent; price is right; and they recognize that people need to be in and out to make their Broadway curtains. Love this place!
Pre-theater dinner. Very close to all the shows in theater district. Delicious Greek cuisine. Balkava for desert was fantastic. Best Greek meal we have ever had!
So glad to be back here post covid and that you were still open. ONe of my favorite places before a show. Vegetarian and always have options.
Don't be fooled by the skanky Port Authority street scene - this is some of the best Greek food we've had in NYC, even better than the Greek Restaurants we've eaten at in Astoria!
Both of our chicken dishes were bland. Positive side was that service was fast and it was easy to get a reservation.
On a short trip to New York we happened upon this restaurant. It was the last Greek food we have had in a long time.
This is a gem! Food is fantastic and it’s a perfect stop before a show.
Impossibly fluffy top layer on moussaka, dressed with a beautiful and tasty olive oil slurry. Just enough lemon on the roasted potatoes. Moist chicken souvlaki. We'll be back!
Great service and food. Great spot for Pre-theater dining.
Food was delicious. Price was very reasonable. We went at an off-hour, but as we were finishing, the place was filling up - sign of a neighborhood gem!
Visited for lunch prior to seeing a show. We dined just after opening and it was a very quiet sitting. I was told by a family member who stayed later that more diners rolled in after 3:00 p.m., which makes sense for the neighborhood (Theater District). The (I’m assuming) owner was a very nice, very friendly gentleman. We all enjoyed our meals very much, though I was disappointed that the vegetarian moussaka was still in the oven and would not be ready in time for me to enjoy at the time we dined at the restaurant. Regardless, the grilled shrimp pita sandwich I opted for was very fresh and tasty. I wouldn’t choose the Greek fries again, personally, but others seemed to enjoy them. The highlight of the meal was the baklava, which was the absolute best baklava I’ve ever tasted. This sentiment was shared by others at the table. I would visit again just for the baklava (and the exceptional service).
The restaurant was very quaint and quiet. The waitress was very attentive and kind. The food was decent.
