We went there on a recent Sunday at Noon, before seeing a Broadway matinee.
Food was ok, but uninspiring. The pasta sauce was somewhat watery, and the waiter somewhat indifferent.
Not bad, not overly good. A decent value but as I said uninspiring. In our opinion, there are many other, better Italian restaurants.
This is the best Italian restaurant in New York City!
Delicious food that is well priced. Excellent value and quality. Good pre-theater restaurant away fro the theater district crowds.
What a find! We found this restaurant on Yelp while visiting NYC for a girls' trip and am so happy we did. The wait staff was extremely friendly and the food was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting NYC.
Food quality matched mediocre pricing. Great time with my date.
For 26 years I have been coming to Da Tommaso. I used to live in the neighborhood and was able to visit multiple times a week. For the past decade, I always have Da Tommaso on my list of restaurants when I visit NYC. It is a can't miss spot and makes you feel like you are in Italy. There is no spot better.
Small quaint place with great Italian food. Not for large groups.
Food was satisfactory. More of a home-style type of cooking.
Service was good and the table for six was very comfortable.
Quite convenient to the theater we attended. In fact, many of the show's cast members dined here that night.
Overall, a pleasing experience and I will dine there again and recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
Perfect restaurant for before attending a show . Friendly waitstaff not pushy at all. Very warm feeling.
Went before seeing a show, great food and very convenient. From the street doesn't look like much, but definitely worth going for Italian before the show.
Good service delicious food relaxed ambiance
Great food and excellent service. The pork chop special with prosciutto and fontina cheese was amazing.
Good but not Great. We were looking for an Italian restaurant near the theater district before a show and found Da Tommaso on Open Table. We arrived early and were seated immediately. Service was very good and attentive. I ordered Caprese as an appetizer and tomatoes were hard, mozzarella bland. I ordered a salmon-pesto dish that was a special for the evening and it was very good. My date ordered eggplant and said it was tasty. I also ordered cheesecake that was tasty and the waiter offered a wine that I thought was well-priced. All in all everything was fine but nothing special.
Arriving on a cold day ahead of opening we were invited inside and treated graciously. Wait staff was very attentive, green house salad was nicely dressed, but eggplant parm. was chewy.
Assorted desserts were spectacular. Proximity to the theaters makes it an ideal location, but I would not recommend a restaurant that can't make an eggplant at least as good as my own.
First time, pre-theatre,
Can't wait to go back
Great service, ambiance, and food!
Great service , food and wine list . We are here for the first time for a pre-show dinner and we are planning another visit to this neighborhood gem My veal cop was superb .We Recommend Da Tommaso !
Excellent service. When we told the waiter to let us be, he did. When we were ready to order, they were right there. Nice, clean, quiet, and reasonable prices. I had the veal parm, it tasted good but was a little chewy. Other meals of the party were good. I'd go back. Had a martini, great and a nice portion. J. S. Phila
Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere.
The food was good and the service was excellent.
I would definitely go back even if I didn't happen to be in that neighborhood.
My go to place for pasta pre marathon or 1/2 marathon race.
Fabulous Caesar salad. Everything was fab
Authentic Italian food. Attentive and friendly service. Freshly baked bread. Gluten free pasta. Amazing seafood pasta! Quality wine list. The tiramisu was awesome! We've eaten a number of times in Italy and the food here was some of the best Italian we've ever eaten 👌🏼🇮🇹🇺🇸
Fine evening. Food and service were good They could use an upgrade on the bread basket bread was stale and toasted. An oasis for the general area
Excellent food. We had the baked clams & Caprese as appetizers, and Eggplant Parm & Seafood Pasta (capellini) for Mains. All were great. It’s refreshing to receive pasta cooked el dente rather than over cooked. Service was attentive, but not over bearing. Tiramisu for dessert was very tasty and a generous portion size. All in all, a great value in NYC. Reservations are highly recommended.
Had the worst service ever. When we sat down no one brought us menus or anything. Eventually we received menus and a basket of mediocre stale bread. The waiter came back and rudely said ok order. While every other table was read the special, our table was even offered the opportunity to hear specials. Then we ordered our entrees and one appetizer for the table to share. The waiter seemed annoyed we didn’t order more food and never once came back to the table until the end of the meal. It took a very long time to receive 3 simple pasta dishes. The fettuccine Alfredo was outstanding while the other pastas left something to be desired. Getting extra bread took three requests to a busboy and another tables servers. My family generally LOVES dessert and throughout the meal we saw waiters bring over a dessert tray and explain to the tables what the options were. When our plates were taken away, the waiter comes over and said do you want dessert? My mom asked what do you have and he proceeded to just name 4 desserts. At that point we were beyond frustrated and wanted to just go. There were plenty of other desserts on the tray and no reason for our waiter to be so rude and practically ignore our table. We will probably not go back despite the pasta being pretty good.
Went to this restaurant after a Saturday matinee. Arrived at 5:15; had reservations but there were only a few diners seated. It did begin to fill up around 5:45-6:00. My husband and I shared a caeser salad and both ordered "specials". The salad was good, but was heavily dressed with a thick caeser dressing; could have used a bit less. My husband had a stuffed pork chop which was delicious; very tender. I had a shrimp and broccoli rabe dish served over rigatoni pasta in a garlic wine sauce which was just "meh". The sauce was tasty, but the shrimp were not whole; they were cut into small pieces (probably three whole shrimp in the whole dish), and the pasta seemed like it came out of a Ronzoni box. Granted, I did not ask if the pasta was homemade, but I expected better quality. Not a bad restaurant, but I will try elsewhere next time.
ordered simple food, mainly appetizers. Very tasty and fine value. management a bu hectic and we felt rushed even though restaurant was half-full. Could have been more charming and graceful. But good value for centrally capable Italian food.
Food and service as always was great! Never been disappointed and would recommend this restaurant highly.
We took a train to nyc with another couple for Valentine’s Day and there was no special ambience for the occasion, no flowers or candles on table and no Music. The food wasn’t that great either so so. Won’t be returning there
We got there at 5:30pm and there was one other couple there... by 6pm completely packed. Definitely make reservations. I had the recommended special which was a stuffed pork chop with prosciutto, smoked cheese and porticini mushrooms with a Marsala sauce... excellent !!! This place is not big but very quaint... looking forward to going back.
The food was dreadful - shrimp were overcooked and the garlic was overpowering. The pesto was heavy and leaden and the caesar salad drowned in dressing. We would not return
Generous portions, good food. Terrific value in the theater district. All four at our table were very pleased with the experience. Highly recommend.
We love this restaurant! This is our third time eating at Da Tommaso and it never disappoints. My daughter and I love the tortellini baked in Parmesan sauce. The prices are reasonable and the ambiance is great. We will definitely go back!
I love Da Tommaso. Been here a few times with dates; always a nice experience.
We enjoyed the food. Menu was accommodated for us.
We arrived at Da Tommaso's for lunch and it was our first visit. The restaurant was empty except for two people at the bar, but the waiter would not let us sit at a four person table stating that it was "reserved". However, the two person table was very cramped and only two other couples, a single person and a party of three arrived later and did not have reservations. The two other couples were seated at four person tables which we found annoying. However, the food was excellent and the service was good which helped to make the experience more enjoyable. The noise level was also quiet due to there being few other customers. Not certain how the noise level would be during dinner service given the rather small space of this restaurant. We would recommend it for lunch.
Great service; Best Veal Parmesan I have ever had; my wife had Ossobuco - fabulous; chocolate mousse for dessert - superb. Price was good; overall - excellent value
Very attentive, let us stay extra long.
Stopped in for lunch right after making the reservation and it seemed like they weren’t ready for us. Food was very good if not a little salty. We ordered “House wine” without realizing the price and $11 a glass is steep for house wine. Service was excellent.
Great find for a theater night. Food was good and very reasonably priced
