Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere.
The food was good and the service was excellent.
I would definitely go back even if I didn't happen to be in that neighborhood.
My go to place for pasta pre marathon or 1/2 marathon race.
Fabulous Caesar salad. Everything was fab
Authentic Italian food. Attentive and friendly service. Freshly baked bread. Gluten free pasta. Amazing seafood pasta! Quality wine list. The tiramisu was awesome! We've eaten a number of times in Italy and the food here was some of the best Italian we've ever eaten 👌🏼🇮🇹🇺🇸
Fine evening. Food and service were good They could use an upgrade on the bread basket bread was stale and toasted. An oasis for the general area
Excellent food. We had the baked clams & Caprese as appetizers, and Eggplant Parm & Seafood Pasta (capellini) for Mains. All were great. It’s refreshing to receive pasta cooked el dente rather than over cooked. Service was attentive, but not over bearing. Tiramisu for dessert was very tasty and a generous portion size. All in all, a great value in NYC. Reservations are highly recommended.
Had the worst service ever. When we sat down no one brought us menus or anything. Eventually we received menus and a basket of mediocre stale bread. The waiter came back and rudely said ok order. While every other table was read the special, our table was even offered the opportunity to hear specials. Then we ordered our entrees and one appetizer for the table to share. The waiter seemed annoyed we didn’t order more food and never once came back to the table until the end of the meal. It took a very long time to receive 3 simple pasta dishes. The fettuccine Alfredo was outstanding while the other pastas left something to be desired. Getting extra bread took three requests to a busboy and another tables servers. My family generally LOVES dessert and throughout the meal we saw waiters bring over a dessert tray and explain to the tables what the options were. When our plates were taken away, the waiter comes over and said do you want dessert? My mom asked what do you have and he proceeded to just name 4 desserts. At that point we were beyond frustrated and wanted to just go. There were plenty of other desserts on the tray and no reason for our waiter to be so rude and practically ignore our table. We will probably not go back despite the pasta being pretty good.
Went to this restaurant after a Saturday matinee. Arrived at 5:15; had reservations but there were only a few diners seated. It did begin to fill up around 5:45-6:00. My husband and I shared a caeser salad and both ordered "specials". The salad was good, but was heavily dressed with a thick caeser dressing; could have used a bit less. My husband had a stuffed pork chop which was delicious; very tender. I had a shrimp and broccoli rabe dish served over rigatoni pasta in a garlic wine sauce which was just "meh". The sauce was tasty, but the shrimp were not whole; they were cut into small pieces (probably three whole shrimp in the whole dish), and the pasta seemed like it came out of a Ronzoni box. Granted, I did not ask if the pasta was homemade, but I expected better quality. Not a bad restaurant, but I will try elsewhere next time.
ordered simple food, mainly appetizers. Very tasty and fine value. management a bu hectic and we felt rushed even though restaurant was half-full. Could have been more charming and graceful. But good value for centrally capable Italian food.
Food and service as always was great! Never been disappointed and would recommend this restaurant highly.
We took a train to nyc with another couple for Valentine’s Day and there was no special ambience for the occasion, no flowers or candles on table and no Music. The food wasn’t that great either so so. Won’t be returning there
We got there at 5:30pm and there was one other couple there... by 6pm completely packed. Definitely make reservations. I had the recommended special which was a stuffed pork chop with prosciutto, smoked cheese and porticini mushrooms with a Marsala sauce... excellent !!! This place is not big but very quaint... looking forward to going back.
The food was dreadful - shrimp were overcooked and the garlic was overpowering. The pesto was heavy and leaden and the caesar salad drowned in dressing. We would not return
Generous portions, good food. Terrific value in the theater district. All four at our table were very pleased with the experience. Highly recommend.
We love this restaurant! This is our third time eating at Da Tommaso and it never disappoints. My daughter and I love the tortellini baked in Parmesan sauce. The prices are reasonable and the ambiance is great. We will definitely go back!
I love Da Tommaso. Been here a few times with dates; always a nice experience.
We enjoyed the food. Menu was accommodated for us.
We arrived at Da Tommaso's for lunch and it was our first visit. The restaurant was empty except for two people at the bar, but the waiter would not let us sit at a four person table stating that it was "reserved". However, the two person table was very cramped and only two other couples, a single person and a party of three arrived later and did not have reservations. The two other couples were seated at four person tables which we found annoying. However, the food was excellent and the service was good which helped to make the experience more enjoyable. The noise level was also quiet due to there being few other customers. Not certain how the noise level would be during dinner service given the rather small space of this restaurant. We would recommend it for lunch.
Great service; Best Veal Parmesan I have ever had; my wife had Ossobuco - fabulous; chocolate mousse for dessert - superb. Price was good; overall - excellent value
Very attentive, let us stay extra long.
Stopped in for lunch right after making the reservation and it seemed like they weren’t ready for us. Food was very good if not a little salty. We ordered “House wine” without realizing the price and $11 a glass is steep for house wine. Service was excellent.
Great find for a theater night. Food was good and very reasonably priced
We arrived on New Years Eve in the freezing cold. We had a reservation for 3 people and 8:00pm, and they specifically asked if the 3rd seat was an adult of baby. The moment we told them it was for a baby, they said they were full for the evening and would try to squeeze us in. We already had the reservations! The next people who came in for a group of 4 was seated immediately. We waited for 40 minutes and then left. Disgusted with the service!
We went here after seeing a Broadway matinee for an early dinner (5:30). Location is perfect for pre or post theater meal . We had a party of 7, so they put us in the back room (main dining room was full), and it was perfect for our group. Food was delicious and plentiful.
At first, the waiter was a little bit cranky, but I think this was because there was a lot going on in our group, including a little whining from a couple hungry kids - once we settled down, ordered the food and several bottles of wine, he cheered up and was pleasant. Cost is a little bit pricey, but that is to be expected in this neighborhood and I'm not sure you will do much better in other nearby restaurants unless you go a but more casual. Wine is definitely overpriced.
Downside - the dining room was WAY too dark. Otherwise, the experience was great.
The man that appeared to be the owner seemed very accommodating but the waiter was less than friendly and certainly not accommodating. Food was average. Wouldn’t recommend to friends as service is always at the top of my priority list.
We had a large group (13 people). Our waiter took great care of us. The food was delicious and we were not rushed like many neighboring restaurants. This place is a favorite of mine in the theatre district. I really enjoyed a salmon special which was prepared with fresh pesto sauce. My daughter loved the spaghetti with clam sauce and my hubby had bronzino with olives and capers which he gobbled up! Amazing evening.
Overall good experience, great food, nice atmosphere, great service. Wide selection including several specials.
This was a perfect place to have dinner before the theater. Only wish we would’ve made the reservation a little earleier so we could have more time to enjoy desert. Short walk to the theater. Perfect neighborhood gem.
Simply delicious and a great atmosphere. Prices and portions were reasonable and the wait staff was very helpful.
If they have the stuffed pork chop get it!
I was served at least one piece of raw chicken, but didn’t realize it until I had already consumed a few bites. I’m just hoping that those pieces were not contaminated. A second entree was made, yet no apologizes were offered. I doubt the server even told the manager. They did not seem to care about our business. With all of the restaurants in the area, we will be taking our business elsewhere.
Disappointing. I had high hopes for this place, but was vastly underwhelmed. I was seated immediately, but was not asked if I had a reservation (which I did). The waiter immediately took my order, which was fine, but the whole experience felt rushed. I had wanted a little more time to peruse the menu, but didn't feel like the waiter would be willing to come back, so I just ordered. I started with a Caesar salad which was bland and had only crouton crumbs on it. For a main course, I ordered the penne vodka, which again, was ok. The entire time I was there, which was a little more than an hour, my waiter only came back to take a plate or bring a new one. He never asked if I needed anything, if everything was to my satisfaction or if I wanted some more water (which I did). They asked at the end, if I wanted coffee, but by then I was just done with the whole experience and wanted to leave. I did leave a tip as the food was good, but it was only 10% based on the lack of service. I won't go back.
Amazing! Authentic and worth stepping off the beaten path.
Close to theatre, we were early and they took us right in. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was great and the food was fantastic, best veal dish I ever had. My family loved my restaurant selection. We will go back again.
We enjoyed dining at Da Tommaso on 8th Avenue in NYC before we went to the Gershwin Theater to see Wicked. The waiter was attentive, kind and always there for us. We enjoyed our order of chicken parmesan with pasta and it was a large portion. The dessert, mousse cake was delicious! We will always dine at Da Tommaso when in NYC because it is a lovely restaurant.
Great food, great service
We went early, so decided to sit at the bar. Food was great. Atmosphere was perfect.
Outstanding! Delicious, ambience was great! Service impeccable! Will be back!
This gem has the perfect old-school atmosphere with excellent service and a delicious variety. It was a short walk from the hustle and bustle of Times Square and provided a pleasant get away from the madness. Even though the portions were large, we couldn't resist trying (almost) every dessert on the menu after sneaking a peak at our neighbor's table. Notable were the cannoli and tiramisu. We were dining with pre-teens, who loved the food and experience as well! We ordered some classics and also tried a couple of the specials. Everything was prepared perfectly to accompany the house wine that we enjoyed! We left with full stomachs and great memories without breaking the bank. We will be back and highly recommend!
Small cramped space, crowded before theater, we ordered Caesar salad which was not good, the lettuce was not fresh but the main dish is pretty good. reasonable price for the theater district.
