Da Noi - Midtown Ratings and Reviews
In the best tradition of New York Neighborhood Restaurants, Da-Noi serves as-like-it-as-you-want-it real Italian cuisine with grace and style. In contrast to all of the Something New restaurants, there's nothing trendy here. They know what they're doing; and they've been doing it very well indeed for quite some time.
In NYC for a conference and mini vacation and staying near Grand Central Station. We were looking for nice Italian restaurant, walkable distance from our hotel, but also looking for a quiet place that wasn’t too expensive. Da Noi met all those requirements on Open Table so we decided to go, and it was a great choice,
Very nice friendly atmosphere from the moment we walked in and were greeted and led to our table by the manage/owner? Nice ambience, photos and paintings of celebs on the walls, and the tables weren’t jammed together as they are in so many places these days. We were surprised to find it wasn’t full on a Saturday night. There was a pianist playing tasty jazz, and very friendly wait staff...not an Italian among them, but they were all knowledgeable about how the food was prepared when we had questions. Though there was a large group in the back room celebrating someone’s 50th birthday, it was quiet enough we could actually have a conversation without shouting. We had cocktails, followed by a leisurely 3course meal with a bottle of wine., and split a dessert. All that for just under $200. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. The wait staff was attentive, but not intrusive. Only “complaint” from my wife who ordered the liver for her meat course was that it was far too large a portion, and she couldn’t finish it. My veal parm was perfectly breaded and served with a tangy lemon sauce that didn’t overpower. At the end of the meal, they gave us a couple of complimentary homemade limoncello.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant , and would go again next time we are in NYC.
Starter was not bad, but we had been waiting for our main dishes about 20 minutes, then we needed to call waiter's attention for our meal. Another waiting, and finally food was served, which were half-cooked vongole and seafood pasta without any seasoning. They seemed to be cooked in a fluster.
This restaurant is always great. We discovered it by accident waiting for my daughter's glasses to be finished a year or two ago and have gone many times since. The food is fantastic, the service is fantastic and you can actually hear the people you are sitting with.
I went to this restaurant as part of the "Restaurant week". There was no mention of the "restaurant week", I had to ask and wait for the waiter to come back to me. It was like they really didn't want anybody to know that they were participating in a "Restaurant week", I found it a little annoying. The food was good but not great or amazing. Also, the waiter who served us knew nothing about wines on the list, not even a minimum knowledge. Good thing the friend I was with, knew the particular wine I wanted. I understand that only really expensive restaurants have a sommelier but a waiter in a nice Italian restaurant should at least have a general knowledge about the wines they are offering.
Da Noi is a restaurant that never fails to please! Staff is warm, polite and efficient. Food is well prepared and served. They also accommodate adjustments to a dish. So happy a friend suggested lunching at Da Noi 2 years ago. It has pleased my guests and remains one of my very favorites.
We had a very nice dinner here on a Sunday evening. It wasn't crowded and the space was comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was good, though a little on the bland side. The service was very good and the staff was friendly and attentive.
Wonderful food presented well with professional and warm service in an attractive setting. Wonderful to see that restaurants like this still exist. I particularly liked the arugula salad that had walnuts and burrata as two of the ingredients and the Parmesan encrusted veal.
