My wife and I love DaMimmo's and it is the only restaurant we frequent in Little Italy. From the expertise of the bar staff to the exceptional service and knowledge of the wait staff to the convenience of the parking lot, we always enjoy our dinners there. Top notch from start to finish.
Our meal at DaMimmo was a highlight of our 2 days in Baltimore. The house special veal chop is to die for. The "fruits of the sea" entree is excellent. Service is outstanding. It is a small intimate dining experience that was slightly marred by an obnoxious egotist at a nearby table who loved to hear himself talk. I highly recommend the restaurant. It's not cheap but oh so good.
Very warming and professional service. The food was above and beyond delicious!
Excellent as always! We Can't wait to do it again.
The minestrone soup was excellent but the chicken parm, although not bad, was missing something. Same with spaghetti and meatballs - something was missing. Desserts ok.
Food was amazing. Get the veal chop but either share it or plan to take home
leftovers. Its huge.
The bread was served very spongy mass manufactured really no taste to stay it did have garlicky taste the other bread and with some cheese on it and garlic same bread mass production no flavor no soul.
The way to basically said you ready? Very poor mannered
Took my wife for Valentine's dinner. She loves Italian and this definitely a hit. The staff was awesome, bar area is small but quaint and has a romantic flair. The resturant is beautiful and has a great atmosphere. The best part of our evening was the dinner we selected. We had the best food in a lo g time and the sauce was excellent.
The food and service were great! We highly recommend this place and will be back again in the future!
Excellent wine, food & service
Whenever I m in Baltimore dinner at Da Mimmo is a must. It never disappoints. The service was top notch. We started with a shared Apple salad. Very unique dressIng I had the veal chop (their signature dish) and it was delicious and cooked to perfection . My wife had the sea bass. Fresh, thick, flaky and served over pasta. She enjoyed it.
Prices were not out of line for fine dining in a city and we spent about the same as we would have in Morton’s or any other fine dining restaurant except that the service was way above average, the noice level was low, and there was good live music that was never too loud, just right.
As always, a delicious meal and great wine in a cozy space.
The veal chop was great, although I would have loved a little pasta with it...
Went there for restaurant week to try a new place. Even though we’ve all live here, we’ve never been to your restaurant. Surprised by a cozy intimate bar with a piano player. Will have to come back for that alone. The food was yummy and the dessert was even better. Although the veal marsala was delicious, the veal chop took the top rating for the evening. And don’t forget about the cheesecake.
We went for restaurant week after seeing the chef on WBAL. We enjoyed everything we ordered. We will be coming back to try different things on the menu. A big plus was their private parking lot across the street from the restaurant.
Excellent food. Great service with a smile.
The veal chop was out of this world!
Can’t wait for the next time
Da Mimmos Is one of Baltimore’s greatest restaurants. The consistency of excellent food and service through the years is fantastic. Their signature dish, a delicious veal chop, is without comparison.
Along with beautiful decor, knowledgeable waiters and our incredible host Mary Ann, Every evening we have spent there has been a pleasure and delight. There is also A very accomplished piano player and singer in the bar area to entertain the diners all evening.
We recommend the restaurant Immensely.
We went during restaurant week. The shrimp appetizer was delicious. The cheesecake wasn't the traditional New York style, in a way it was better-not so rich you couldn't finish it. Our main courses were all very good. Our waiter's timing was perfect but I got the feeling he wasn't pleased having to serve "restaurant week" people.
As always, a fantastic evening at our favorite Baltimore restaurant. Food, service, ambiance are all first rate. Thank you for another night to remember!
We celebrated New Year ev e with friends. One of our favorite Italian restaurant. Drinks at the bar before dinner. Soft piano was playing. Excellent bartender handled a busy restaurant very efficiently. Two of us enjoyed delicious apps and veal tenderloin for dinner. Reasonable wine list. Just an enjoyable evening.
OMG can they charge any higher prices for their food. I will not break down each item we had but I eat out at least twice a month at fine dining and am not cheap but please I had not been back to Da Mimmo for few years for New Years and will not be back. Don't get me wrong the food was very tasty and service was good but the prices were out of line for what we had. Did not order from fixed menu.
Very pleased with the food and the service. Only negative was that the menu price did not match what is on the web-site. Perhaps, if the prices were raised because of the holiday w/e, the website should be adjusted to reflect that. Otherwise, everything was wonderful.
We always enjoy our visit. The food is outstanding and the Veal Chop is the best I have ever had. The owner is always there and makes you feel welcome. This is the best Italian food in Baltimore.
Wonderful experience great hosts
Being a foodie and a patron on many high-end restaurants and this was by far the worst meal, we have experienced in years. I really do not oppose spending the money on a good meal and do so typically 3-4 times a month. I ordered Frutti di Mare, which was small portion for this dish, shrimp were literally raw, lobster overcooked and the squid was so overcooked it was rubber and being a special at $50, I expected much more from this establishment. Our waiter, whom I have seen here for at least 20-25 years just, no other words, sucked. Waited 5 minutes just to be addressed by a waiter, waited 10 minutes to place a 2nd drink order. When I addressed the issue of the raw shrimp and overcooked other items on my plate, I would have thought he would have made some adjustment to our check, since the raw shrimp were cut open visibly not cooked, even to a novice. The waiter never came to the table, after dinner was served, to check on us. The only service we had in this establishment that night was a very attentive bus boy, whom in my opinion would have been better than the waiter. I have been patronizing this establishment, since I was a little kid, when this was the happening night life place for dinner. Now at 55, I feel Ms. Criccho either needs to get back in the game of producing a decent product or spend more time promoting her travel tours to Italy. I do not think this establishment will be around much longer, based on the attendance Christmas Eve, which you could still get a table as a walk in.
There are too many good places to eat in Little Italy to waste your money on terrible service, overpriced food, which is not even proper cooked or lacks flavor. Try the old standbys of Germano's, Aldo, Sabatino's, Chiapparelli's or our favorite for the last two years, LaScala.
This is the 2nd time in the last six-months, which DaMimmo's produced an insufficient meal of quality or taste and I can definitely say I/we will not be back to this establishment again.
We totally enjoyed everything the restaurant had to offer. We will be back on our next anniversary.
Great food great atmosphere
Had a GREAT time! Perfect place to celebrate any special occasion! The service was impeccable and the food was incredible.
Appetizers were not good. Some mains were also poor. Ingredients in the actial dish did not match menu description at all. Pasta must have been from a box. A couple of the mains were OK. Sauce bland. Prices too high for what was served.
The food was good, but it was overpriced ($22.75 for lasagna, $4.00 PER SHRIMP to add it to fettucine alfredo). The service was good, the ambiance warm and charming, and the menu varied enough to cover pasta, chicken, veal, and beef. Da Mimmo is a Baltimore institution, and a must-do if you're checking off your "old school Little Italy restaurants" list, but be prepared to pay for the experience.
The food and service were excellent. The decor is a throwback to Goodfellas.
The service and food were excelent. I read some reviews that were not favorable but, saw they were in the minority. I will be back, the pasta was very fresh, the crab appetizer amazing, all the entrees very tasty
Great as always. Chef masood never disappoints. See in on the amalthy coast
It was going great until I saw the hostess take the bread that was on our table and place it back in the pile of bread. Then a piece fell on the floor and she graciously picked it up and added it to the pile. Last time seeing me!
With all of the new restaurants that have opened or are opening in Baltimore, Da Mimmo is a hidden gem that folks need to get back to. The food is spectacular, the service is incredible and the overall feeling of a genuine appreciation that you're there is one you don't get in a lot of places. My advice to those looking for a either a special night out or just want to go and get a wonderful, authentic meal, or want to sit in a cozy lounge with music, don't get caught up with the "shiny new object" of the latest place opening. Get over to Da Mimmo see for yourself why they've been around so long, and are a longtime favorite of many. Great job to the owner, Mary Ann Cricchio and her dedicated staff. I can't wait to get back.
Not bad but overpriced. Ambiance is very nice and the food is good but not amazing.
First of all, if you are looking for trendy food or decor, don't eat here. I laugh every time I read a review of an "old-school" place that whines about it being... old-school. We just like good food, and Da Mimmo still does a great job in that regard, but their service has slipped considerably. On both of my previous visits (once with my husband, once with my best friend) I felt genuine warmth from the staff as well as pride in their work. This time around, our server was standing at the door when I walked in and asked very gruffly "Are you with the party?" I replied no and said my husband was parking the car, so he asked again "ARE you with the PARTY?" Apparently a large group had rented the upstairs dining room, but not the best way to greet a guest. Our table was in the main dining area and was fine until a couple of larger parties came in and proceeded to shout over one another for much of our meal. During dinner, I had a lot to tell my husband as I'd just come back from a trip, but our server proceeded to interrupt me mid-word at least five times. His demeanor throughout the meal was very condescending and it seemed he couldn't wait to get rid of us. Given that our tab (1 salad, 1 order of calamari, 1 frutti di mare, 1 swordfish special, 1 moderately-priced bottle of wine, and 1 after-dinner drink for each of us) came to $237 before tip, we'd hoped to be treated a bit more graciously. We might give Da Mimmo another chance, but it will be a while before we do so.
The ambience is a little dated. The food and service are outstanding! We loved it.
Dinner was fabulous we were seated in a quiet corner table by. The window, food was outstanding, highly recommend the veal chop and lobster, we had dessert downstairs at the piano bar, fabulous ambiance, friendly family run restaurant with excellent food and outstanding service.
