    Da Maurizio offers two private rooms. The first and largest room hosts up to 45 people and is completely closed off from the remainder of the restaurant by sliding frosted glass doors. This room has access to our outdoor patio for summer functions and has its own private washrooms. The second private room is secluded and hosts up to 25 people. It is a smaller and cozy room that is separated from the other diners by our bar area and a small flight of steps. Both rooms are perfect for business meetings, weddings, family celebrations and continuing education programs. Also, both rooms are suitable should you require audio/visual equipment for your event. Custom menus are available for both rooms.

    Disappointed. For years I wanted to dine at Da Maurizio, I expected better food. The veal had no flavour, the soft cheese was hard and crusty. Our little table was in a corner that was full of fruit flies, I felt like I was in the basement. I wanted to be in the main dining room. Service was great, we were celebrating a 50th birthday and wished we had gone to our regular spot down the street.

    My husband and I first tried this restaurant approx 20 years ago when we were visiting Halifax. The seafood pasta I had was one of the best I have ever eaten. So when we came back to Halifax this weekend it was our first dinner booking and it did not disappoint. We shared a meal of radicchio salad, gnocchi and the veal. It was all delicious and the service was excellent. Thanks for a great evening. Our server Katie was fantastic. Very quick and attentive.

    DaMaurizio is a close to perfection as you are going to get in Halifax. The service is always warm and friendly, never standoffish. Interesting cocktails and a decent selection of wines by the glass. We have never been disappointed with our dinners at DaMaurizio.

    My absolute favorite is the Polpetti appetizer with a nice Caparzo red (Brunello Montelcino:) As for the mains so much to choose from, just a case of what you want to experience.

    Our waiter was really good, and the salads were excellent but the rest of the meal was extremely disappointing. 1 person ordered the steak fillet and it was really oversalted and the other 2 people ordered the veal and the veal was tough and stringy and the food was very cool. The dessert of cannoli, the outside of it was not crisp and the filling was tasteless.

    It's 50/50. My carpacio starter was delicious; but really tiny. My lamb shank was lovely. However, my wife's calamari was unpleasantly chewy (especially when compared to where we dined the night before). Her gnocci was underwhelming - bland and tasteless. Scott, our server, partially rescued the evening by suggesting a replacement plate with tomato sauce, which was much better. Da Maurizio had been my wife's No 1 restaurant for two years; now she doesn't wish to go back.

    Construction outside and lack of signage made for a tricky start. Everything was then ok but just ok. Lack of any real punch or flavour - burnt potatoes and bland sauce. Dishes also served as if had been under hot plate for a while before coming out. Not a cheap night but previous experiences here have been exceptional. This was not

    It has been a few years since we dined at da maurizios. It used to be a quiet, romantic restaurant where you could sit and talk over a lovely dinner and a bottle of wine. On the reservation they ask if it an important evening and we told them it was our anniversary. No acknowledgment. Waiter wanted to take our order immediately. I asked to have a cocktail first and it took 25 minutes to get it. The waiter tried to take our order but I asked to enjoy my cocktail. My husband ordered a bottle of wine and we had to ask for it for our main course. We ate our first course without anything but water. Other tables were offered bread right away but my husband had to ask for some. Our dinner was fine. The ambiance is stale and dated. Lighting was old and dated. Too loud for an intimate conversation. Boring. Underwhelmed. Used to be THE place to go for a quiet high end dinner.

    Da Maurizio, as always was perfect. Greeted at the door by Tanya, the owner and seated. Water was immediately brought to the table. We had an appetizer shared a salad, then main course and dessert. Drinks were great and wine choice by Kelly our waiter was lovely. We come here for special occasions or whenever we crave the delicious food. It is always a great night out. Highly recommend.

    Our experience here was exceptional in every way. Da Maurizio was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in ages. The service is outstanding and welcoming, and they remember you if you are a repeat customer. The food is sensational - every dish was a masterpiece. The cocktails - perfection! The dining room is elegant with a warm atmosphere, yet intimate in a way that you feel part of the buzz without being on top of your neighbors. We spent several hours there and did not feel rushed through the dining experience at all. I highly recommend the Frittelle di Carote, carrot fritters on a delicious Beet pureé - Outstanding. Great for special events or romantic date nights.

    My husband and I both had the Risotto with scallops, shrimp, mussels, saffron white wine and Gran Padano. It was divine!! Best risotto I have ever eaten. My husband ordered a similar dish in Quebec City and there was no comparison. This was our second visit to daMaurisio, the last being in 2018. Will always return. Highly recommended.

    We have been coming here for over 30 years and this would be the first time our expectations were not met. The food was OK but not what we expect from this restaurant. Not having traditional tiramisu and crème brûlée was very disappointing. Tiramisu is a signature dessert and one that should always be there. It wasn’t a bad experience but not the WOW that we have been accustomed to. Hopefully, this was a one off experience and not a sign of things to come. Michel

    Certainly a "fine dining" experience/ambience and great friendly service, however the food was not extraordinary or very innovative (overcooked steak and fairly basic run-of-the-mill alternatives). Lighting was very bright in our area as well, made it uncomfortable. I think they were just a little too traditional for us? I have no doubt that others may have enjoyed it more than we did.

    4 diners celeb 45 anniv + a birthday. Steak was overdone and cold as were the potatoes. Gnocchi arrived luke warm. Other dishes acceptable. Radicchio salad was spectacular as was the salsiccia. Service staff friendly, polite but slow.

    Overall it was a good evening however the pasta was overcooked. I was not able to finish Amatriciana due to this. The server did remove it from our bill which was nice of her to do. The Capesante e Gremolata and Arancini were very good. We had the Tiramisu for dessert which was also very good. It was our anniversary and they had happy anniversary on the dessert plate which was a nice touch.

    Just as wonderful as we remembered, we moved back to our home province of Nova Scotia in April and this was our first visit back to Damaurizio. Happy to discover everything priced right so we splurged on a bottle of Purple Angel. The meal was delicious as were the deserts! Highly recommend and shall be returning with our good friends in tow soon.
