About Da Marco
You'll get the best pizza and pasta dishes in the city at Marco Wiles' intimate and unassuming little Montrose restaurant. Some of the unusual varieties of fish, such as the branzino (Italian sea bass) are jet-flown in from Italy. The wine list is just as innovative as the food, with lots of crisp Proseccos and unusual Piedmont reds. And the service is exceptional -- unless you ask for spaghetti and meatballs.

The food here is always excellent. The service tonight was superb. Quite attentive without in any way interfering with conversation. We had a relatively early seating, but before long the restaurant was full on a weeknight. The happy anniversary on the dessert plate was a nice touch.
My husband and I were visiting from Seattle and had such a great experience at Da Marco. I usually don’t write reviews but I went specifically for the uni and crab spaghetti and it did not disappoint. The uni was very apparent and not drowned out by cream. The crab was perfectly de-shelled and the chili was the perfect spice. Theirs was by far the BEST uni dish that I have ever had! It is truly a must try. My husband ordered the sweet corn ravioli and lobster and that was also a marvelous dish that was executed very well. We will definitely return the next time we are in town if not again before we leave.
We arrived for dinner early but were seated 45 minutes after reservation time, that's really bad at any restaurant, but completely unacceptable at a place where you're going to spend $150 to $200 per person, even worse considering the complete joke of a "bar" or "waiting area". Food was OK but for the price and completely ridiculous markups on the wine, I will not be back, not even if was going to be seated in a timely fashion. I just don't get why people put themselves through this charade of a place.
Da Marco has been neglected in recent surveys of Houston's best restaurants. This is a crime. Not merely is it one of Houston's best restaurants; it's one of the best restaurants in the country. The friend we hosted at the restaurant has spent several years in Italy, and assured it that it was the equal of the very best restaurants at which she has dined there.
It was a fantastic experience that left me with nothing but admiration for the craftsmanship, authenticity and delicate table-side etiquette that one expects from a restaurant of such high caliber. Da Marco provides a level of service unseen in many establishments. The staff continuously set a high standard for fine dining which is an experience I will never forget.
We had a great meal and a fine time. When we returned home we had an email from Open Table stating that we had failed to show up for this reservation. We emailed OT and called the restaurant. The restaurant confirmed that they had recorded our arrival and they again confirmed this with OT while we were on the phone. OT has never apologized or admitted its error except to send us this email.
It pains me to say this, but we had a less than stellar experience. We have been going to Da Marco for at least a decade and have had nothing but superb experiences. Because we have such a long history with this restaurant, we will absolutely return in hopes that it returns to our expectations.
