About Da Marco

You'll get the best pizza and pasta dishes in the city at Marco Wiles' intimate and unassuming little Montrose restaurant. Some of the unusual varieties of fish, such as the branzino (Italian sea bass) are jet-flown in from Italy. The wine list is just as innovative as the food, with lots of crisp Proseccos and unusual Piedmont reds. And the service is exceptional -- unless you ask for spaghetti and meatballs.

The food is very good. One tip to know is that they do not serve cocktails. So, know your wines before you arrive!

We eat here almost weekly- nearly always try the daily specials. Attentive and great service. Sometimes the constant water and wine pouring is a little intrusive. The food is top notch, simple but very flavorful.

We arrived for dinner early but were seated 45 minutes after reservation time, that's really bad at any restaurant, but completely unacceptable at a place where you're going to spend $150 to $200 per person, even worse considering the complete joke of a "bar" or "waiting area". Food was OK but for the price and completely ridiculous markups on the wine, I will not be back, not even if was going to be seated in a timely fashion. I just don't get why people put themselves through this charade of a place.

Da Marco has been neglected in recent surveys of Houston's best restaurants. This is a crime. Not merely is it one of Houston's best restaurants; it's one of the best restaurants in the country. The friend we hosted at the restaurant has spent several years in Italy, and assured it that it was the equal of the very best restaurants at which she has dined there.

It was a fantastic experience that left me with nothing but admiration for the craftsmanship, authenticity and delicate table-side etiquette that one expects from a restaurant of such high caliber. Da Marco provides a level of service unseen in many establishments. The staff continuously set a high standard for fine dining which is an experience I will never forget.

My new favorite restaurant in Houston. A self-proclaimed foodie having eaten at many of the finest restaurants around the world, this was an experience that ranks high.

We had a great meal and a fine time. When we returned home we had an email from Open Table stating that we had failed to show up for this reservation. We emailed OT and called the restaurant. The restaurant confirmed that they had recorded our arrival and they again confirmed this with OT while we were on the phone. OT has never apologized or admitted its error except to send us this email.

It was a Christmas Holiday lunch and DaMarco's never dissapoints. The service was exceptional and the food even better. If you have one meal to eat out in Houston, pick DaMarcos. It's just always amazing.

It pains me to say this, but we had a less than stellar experience. We have been going to Da Marco for at least a decade and have had nothing but superb experiences. Because we have such a long history with this restaurant, we will absolutely return in hopes that it returns to our expectations.

The meal was outstanding--the spaghetti with sea urchin sauce, the octopus, the branzino, the wine. The service was terrific. Expensive but worth it. Also, it's nice to go to a restaurant with a dress code.

It is a ok ace for people who enjoy a meal based in good ingredients. Extremely good pasta and a place for once in a year meal with white truffle taste . Something you must try at least once. Beautiful experience. The best service for me In Houston.

We only became familiar with Da Marco in the past couple of years, but have returned repeatedly since. The base menu has depth and is very authentic and creative. They always have a board with daily specials, all of which have always been outstanding. Nicolas is always a gracious, hospitable host. The waitstaff is some of the best in the city. They are friendly, articulate, and always knowledgable about all of the menu items. The venue is small enough to feel homey and intimate.

I have never left a negative review in my life but dear me, I also think that you can expect some sort of standard when you go out to eat. Unfortunately, the standard at this restaurant was very poor. Where do I start?
The service was the worst, the waiter , Hassan , truly mislead us and did literlary cheat to charge us. We tried to talk to the manager to resolve the issue, he was the rudest person ever. I would NEVER go there again even if it is the only exsiting restaurant in this world . I wish there was an option you could leave a zero star.

The food was amazing, but the service left something to be desired. Had reservations for 2 at 7:30 and had to wait until 8:15 to get seated. Two other couples were in the exact same situation, so it appears this place overbooks. They offered a free glass of Prosecco after 30 minutes of waiting, but that was a pretty minor gesture given there was no where to sit and the bar was full, so ended up just standing in the small lobby area for 45 minutes.

I'd suggest making a reservation early in the evening.

Cons: We got seated 30mins past our reservation time. There's no chairs in the front for us to sit while we wait besides going to the bar. Our waiter was not friendly. Didn't ask if we wanted to order any wine or cocktails. The whole dinner serving us he didn't break one smile while the other tables he served his attitude was totally opposit. We ordered 6 dishes for the 2 of us and still wanted to try the $125 truffle pasta. So we asked if it came in appetizer version (we heard it was an option). He said yes and that's what we ordered. Looking over the bill we were charged the full $125. Pros: manager made up for the long wait to be seated with complimentary glass of champagne. We got seated at a corner table like we requested because we were celebrating our anniversary. Food was decent but didn't meet our expectation.

Had not been to Da Marco in many years. What was I thinking?! The food is incredible. The servers are cordial and professional. You don’t feel rushed as you savor each delicious dish including the crusty Italian bread with pure virgin olive oil. We chose to share pappardelle with wild boar. I’d eat that and that alone forever if I could. But the main courses of branzino and medium rare rib eye were equally delectable. I cannot wait to go back to Da Marco!

Overpriced mediocre Italian restaurant. The $110 white (I know) truffle tagliatelle was swimming in butter with unrequested parmesan had virtually no truffle taste. A split Dover Sole was prepared then sliced in half rather than split into the two sections. It was tasty but the presentation was pathetic. This is not a true Italian restaurant, but an attempt to upsell mediocre food
