About Da Marco
You'll get the best pizza and pasta dishes in the city at Marco Wiles' intimate and unassuming little Montrose restaurant. Some of the unusual varieties of fish, such as the branzino (Italian sea bass) are jet-flown in from Italy. The wine list is just as innovative as the food, with lots of crisp Proseccos and unusual Piedmont reds. And the service is exceptional -- unless you ask for spaghetti and meatballs.

Da Marco Ratings and Reviews
The food was amazing, but the service left something to be desired. Had reservations for 2 at 7:30 and had to wait until 8:15 to get seated. Two other couples were in the exact same situation, so it appears this place overbooks. They offered a free glass of Prosecco after 30 minutes of waiting, but that was a pretty minor gesture given there was no where to sit and the bar was full, so ended up just standing in the small lobby area for 45 minutes.
I'd suggest making a reservation early in the evening.
Cons: We got seated 30mins past our reservation time. There's no chairs in the front for us to sit while we wait besides going to the bar. Our waiter was not friendly. Didn't ask if we wanted to order any wine or cocktails. The whole dinner serving us he didn't break one smile while the other tables he served his attitude was totally opposit. We ordered 6 dishes for the 2 of us and still wanted to try the $125 truffle pasta. So we asked if it came in appetizer version (we heard it was an option). He said yes and that's what we ordered. Looking over the bill we were charged the full $125. Pros: manager made up for the long wait to be seated with complimentary glass of champagne. We got seated at a corner table like we requested because we were celebrating our anniversary. Food was decent but didn't meet our expectation.
Had not been to Da Marco in many years. What was I thinking?! The food is incredible. The servers are cordial and professional. You don’t feel rushed as you savor each delicious dish including the crusty Italian bread with pure virgin olive oil. We chose to share pappardelle with wild boar. I’d eat that and that alone forever if I could. But the main courses of branzino and medium rare rib eye were equally delectable. I cannot wait to go back to Da Marco!
Overpriced mediocre Italian restaurant. The $110 white (I know) truffle tagliatelle was swimming in butter with unrequested parmesan had virtually no truffle taste. A split Dover Sole was prepared then sliced in half rather than split into the two sections. It was tasty but the presentation was pathetic. This is not a true Italian restaurant, but an attempt to upsell mediocre food
Service ESPECIALLY wonderful.
Neither of us (with much restaurant experience between us) liked the very expensive pasta and sea urchin dish. Too much cream, pasta didn't come through taste-wise. Sea urchin was probably good, but its taste was overwhelmed.
The other (5!) dishes?? I DREAM about the shaved celery and the truffle ice cream. You will LOVE this place. The price was more than worth it!
I only gave them 4star for value, mainly because their special dessert for the night which is Tiramisu, is the smallest portion I ever had for that kind of dessert and for the price and presentation, it wasn't worth it. Otherwise everything that we had that night were excellent. We are from NYC we moved here to Houston almost a year ago, and yes the places that we've been are to see and be seen places, expensive but the portion of tiramisu and presentation is by far better.
Wonderful dining experience as always. Everything about DaMarco's is always a joy. We had the special primi truffles and pasta and the pancetta, both divine. We also had the branzino and the special porter house steak. Both prepared to perfection. Our waiter paired each course with the perfect wine pairing. I have read a few reviews and have seen that some complain about the decor being dated or something or other being to bland. To that I say, maybe DaMarcos is not for you. A trendy Houston spot with lots of lights and over spiced food may be better suited. DaMarcos is classy and unpretentious. The food is perfectly done. It is not over salted or sauced. We enjoy DaMarcos and so will you. Oh please dress appropriately.
Our waiter was very attentive yet not intrusive. Service progressed at an even rate; and we neither felt hurried or ready for our next course. The only negative was that another couple was smoking outside and every time they went in or out the smell was most disgusting. I am allergic to it.
Wine and beer only which is unusual for a supposed high end restaurant. Food was fine. Service was excellent. Just did not quite have the right vibe for an haute cuisine Italian restaurant. Especially since tables are crowded together European style. Too many other fine Italian restaurants in this town that I would prefer, rather than coming back to this restaurant.
