Located in NYCÕs Greenwich Village, Da Marcella serves authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy, intimate dining room. The restaurant allows you to bring your own cake for dessert and its staff will plate it creatively for you for a small fee. Da Marcella offers catering services as well as the ability to host private events.
Try the soup of the day or the grilled octopus to start out your meal at Da Marcella. Choose from menu options like a whole Cornish hen marinated with paprika, rosemary and garlic or roasted wild salmon. For pasta lovers, choose from a wide variety of dishes like the lasagna and the rigatoni.
Once again, the food was delish and the service excellent. With new management, but luckily with the same chef, (this chef knows food!) we're hoping it continues. It's our go to place in Soho.
Delish! Fun and satisfying experience for all. Will be back soon.
We dine regularly at Da Marcella and each time are delighted with the service and food. The fried artichoke special was delicious, as was the calamari, arugala salad, every pasta dish, and even the molten cake. A great Chianti at under $30 for the bottle topped it off. Casual atmosphere with people who always greet you with a smile. We asked to eat in several courses and are never rushed. We'll be back!
This is one of our go-to places. Also can't believe how affordable it is. Food is always good, staff always friendly. Small place so can get a little loud after 8pm, but not a big deal at all. Ambience is casual and cozy.
this neighborhood gem is now attracting people from all over since its classic food, friendly staff and reasonable prices are no longer common
Delicious food at a reasonable price! Will definetly be returning!!
Tough call, as I love this restaurant, and want them to do well, but do not want it to become too popular. Service, food and price are exceptional.
Try it and see!!!
This was our fifth visit to Da Marcella and on each occasion the food has been superb. Tasty fresh pastas from their next door neighbor, Raffetto's, are the highlights of a small but creative menu with prices that are most inviting for those of us with modest means. You will be pleased and like us, I'm certain you'll return for more!
Chicken tasted like it had been frozen then microwaved. Terrible. Nice staff and charming, convenient setting.
I have been to Da Marcella about a dozen times and always had a great meal and an ok service but the last few times the service has been so bad that I will never recommend or go back to this restaurant.
It was the worst I've experienced in New york City restaurants.
I expected a much better service from the waitress, she missed several points thru the evening, giving myself and my guests a poor dining experience and when I spoke to her she was defensive and responded in a loud and very unprofessional manner. To top it off when I spoke to one of the owners he just said that he was not working that evening. "he washed his hands". Hopefully they give their staff a manager that knows how to treat customers.
The food is very reminiscent of Nana or Poppa cooking for a Sunday meal. Very rustic, delicious and the flavors linger. Portions not large, but filling. Service can be slow, but servers are very accommodating.
as always; sometimes hard to hear given the noise level
We visit regularly and the food is consistently good. Great staff. Our favorites include the eggplant parmigian appetizer, their pasta dishes, skewered shrimp, salmon, whole fish and creme brûlée
for dessert . They also have an extensive special menu that changes periodically. Lots of choices for meat eaters too.
don't miss this fabulous little gem of a restaurant. Our go to place now in NYC
The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly and wanted to make sure we were happy and satisfied. The food was absolutely amazing. The pastas were homemade and sauce is divine. Wine incredible and everything for a VERY reasonable price. Would come back here every week. Highly recommend the pappardelle with pink sauce and pancetta and the tagatielle bolognese. Also cheesecake delicious. A must go! It's crowded and small but it makes for an authentic cozy atmosphere!
Always reliable: Edible flowers and fried calamari are great openers. Pastas are perfect. The hen is delectable and ample enough for a take home bag. Wine at a good price. Waitstaff efficient and pleasant, but teetering between unobtrusive and neglectful depending on your outlook. The warmhearted greeting is always appreciated.
We had pesto, meat souce and ravioli... All were tasy, fresh, well prepared. Great find
Prices great, food great. Enjoyed it so much will take out of town relatives for lunch in 2 weeks. Very small place, cozy. Gets crowed at night. Went for late lunch early dinner on a Saturday got crowded after 7pm. Bar does not have liquor. Beer, wine I believe was it.
Delicious homestyle Italian food, but with a more distinctive taste. Portions are good. Staff friendly, but as place gets busy less available, but doing their best to accommodate and serve. Very eclectic crowd .which is fun seeing all enjoying the ambiance, food and company
I came here with a friend but definitely has a romantic vibe. Lovely for great decently priced pasta or great meat but for a slightly higher price
Great lunch. Everyone was wicked nice. Food was delicious. Very accomada of diverse needs of groups. Our waiter was amazing and very patient. Would come back here on my own time and would recommend to a friend in a heartbeat. Thank you!
Great itlalian food. Great for a date, or just if you want good italian food for a good price
Very disappointed with the food. Both pasta dishes had far too much salt. Waiter didn't care and comped us 2 small biscotti biscuits! Salad of romaine and Gorgonzola was also very bland.
Overall a very good restaurant...Food is quite good..prices are very good...a bit noisy and the seats not that comfortable...But, will go back again
wonderful neighborhood bistro where the staff remember you, even when you are an out of towner!
We went on Thursday night and it was quite busy. It has a warm, noisy neighborhood feel. I liked the monitor above the bar showing old 70s movies...Service was friendly and attentive. We had their meatballs and calamari to start--both of which were good. Meatballs were juicy & flavorful. Calamari was crispy and not too heavy on the breading. I had the grilled whole branzino which was cooked perfectly. My husband had the salmon which he enjoyed very much. Their tiramisu was quite successful- light as air and not too sweet.
I'd like to go back to try their pastas.
The food was delicious and the service was great.
My younger daughter had been to DaMarcella twice before and said I'd love the food. She was right.
I was in the City with both my daughters as my older daughter had given us tickets for "Wicked" for Christmas. We decided to have an early dinner and though it was not around the corner on a very, very cold night, we headed down to DaMarcella. It was worth the trip.
The hostess was a bit abrupt with us, but otherwise the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Between the three of us we shared two appetizers: Burrata con Prosciutto and Calamari Fritti - both fantastic. We each only had a first plate, but it was all more than enough food: Gnocchi con Gamberi, Tagliatelle alla Bolognese and Papardelle alla Fiorentina. So good. All three.
Between those, a bottle of Montepulciano d'Abbruzzo and two fine desserts, the Panna Cotta and a big hunk of Tiramisú, we were more than satisfied. :)
Great prices, too!
We really liked the variety on the menu and enjoyed all the food. Very interesting pasta dishes and sturdy entrees. Reasonable and varied wine list. Service was excellent without being obsequious or pushy. Overall an excellent value for Manhattan. It got a little noisy when one family with 2 children arrived for a birthday dinner but overall noise levels were fine. We could converse at a table of 6. We will definitely go back.
Fabulous food and good prices. Cons: It was very crowded waiting for a table (no even though we had reservations, and it was very noisy. Nevertheless, I will definitely be back.
Great pasta, great people running the place, and so dependable. Always difficult to choose, so plan to share
Love this place. Great food, service and price. Very unique menu. Grilled octopus is best I have ever had. Lamb shank is fantastic, the meat falls off the bone. Highly recommend this place.
If you are not sure what to have just ask the staff - they are the best.
small and a bit crowded at times but the food and service was great; we were a bit cramped amongst the other patrons but it was never too crowded to hear each other and what was going on. We each ordered a different pasta dish and enjoyed it all!
Never been disappointed with the food at Da Marcella. Great value on wines as well. A little better service would be an amazing place to come with friends.
Nice service, great food, cheap and cheerful! Will definitely go again!
I'm not sure where to begin. The food was fine. Nothing outstanding. But not bad either. I suppose the reviews had my expectations too high. It's just another small restaurant trying to earn a name of itself. It just couldn't make the necessary impression to compete in a city as food-obsessed as New York City.
Perfect neighborhood restaurant. Great place to take visitors from out of the country. A small typical Village eatery.
We ordered the Ragu 8 hour cooked pasta and thought it was just ok. The chicken liver pate was not bad. I like the ambiance and noise level is moderate. Overall, it's not bad. I would come back again.
My first time at this restaurant. It was a real find. The prices were moderate for NYC., the food was excellent. I will be back.
Small hole-in-the-wall Italian joint. Perfectly good food, great service, nice ambience. Was packed and noisy on a Friday night.
