Da Campo Osteria offers casual dining during both the lunch and dinner hour. Cozy and intimate, it is ideal for date night or private business meetings. Da Campo Osteria has a chic, contemporary dŽcor with bench seating and stylish pendant lighting. Large windows provide water views and enhance its romantic ambience. It also features an open kitchen with a visible brick oven and grill station.
Specializing in Italian cuisine, Da Campo Osteria has a menu which includes homemade mozzarella, meatball sandwiches, short rib ravioli and tiramisu for dessert. Its drink menu also features several beverages inspired by Italy. This includes its Barbaresco wine and mimosas.
da Campo Osteria has been a favorite since they opened. We first went on their 2nd or 3rd day open to the public. The hotel has apparently been sold and the menu was cut to salads, burgers and flat bread with one steak (dreadful) and one veal special. There was one chef making the mozzarella & doing ALL of the cooking-badly. Our calamari was overcooked and inedible. The flat bread overloaded so that the toppings fell off as you bit into the too crispy crust. The burger was passable. The steak was too expensive, over cooked and very sloppy in presentation (served with all kinds of topping better suited to a pizza). It is very disappointing that they did not have the decency to warn Open Table patrons that the menu was so completely changed.
Restaurant in the Il Lugano hotel and condos. So you get the families staying in the hotel/condo. Sometimes that does not make for a romantic evening. But the food and service is very good. You must have the fresh made mozzerella if you go. Also the scallops are excellent. Get a table with a view of the intercostal. Makes it even better.
We noticed several changes immediately after arriving. Front bar was closed with no live music. Hostess was delayed (seemed to be doing multiple tasks). While waiting for table restaurant bar was empty including no bartender (hostess finally came over to help us). Once seated, obvious changes on the menu. One major disappointment pointed out was that the mozzarella was no longer prepared table side. I was told the changes I noticed including the menu was because of new ownership. I suppose the new owners missed this table side service as being Da Campos signature item.
Our service was service was excellent once seated, and what we ordered was prepared well. With the exception of the mozzarella...it was fair.
I would expect more!
We were told that the restaurant is under new ownership and that changes had been made to the menu. The mozzarella appetizer used to be made table-side (which made it interesting as well as outstanding) was no longer done. The food was good but not outstanding; no specials were offered. Only half of the listed desserts were available. We may go back but it's no longer high on my list.
It's over for this former Chef Todd English establishment while hiding behind the old name.
Appetizers were great. My wife and I ordered dinner after the apps. I ordered a pork chop. Twenty five minutes after ordering it, waiter came back and said sorry we have no pork chops and that the restaurant would buy my entree. I ordered veal saltimboca, which I have has there on many occasions. The veal and my wife's entree came out two minutes later. The veal had clearly been pre cooked and thrown into the microwave. It was dry, stringy and tough. I immediately sent it back. The restaurant didn't charge us for the entrees, but alas I left without having had an entree. I tipped the waiter as if we had paid for the entire meal. Maitre de never appeared to apologize. Sad display since I live in a big building in the neighborhood.
Our reservations were for 9 pm. We felt unattended to. Presentation in the delivery was poor, dinner-like. Three out of four meals good, the fourth was horrible. He was offered another meal yet charged for the more expensive entree. For an upscale resturant it lacked class.
If you have not tried this dinning experience it is AMAZING. Order the mozzarella it is made table side! The service is OUTSTANDING, and I am looking forward to my return trip. It may be next week!
I honestly would only go there for the Super Mozzarella. Everything else was Ok. King Crab Tortellini, NY Strip, Roasted Chicken, Peruvian Sea Bass and the Seafood Risotto...all Okk. The Risotto was very dry but it was packed with Seafood (crab meat, shrimp, clams, mussels). NY Strip we asked for Medium it was more on the Medium Well side. Peruvian sea bass was bland, it lacked substance. King Crab Tortellini needed some acidity; the sweetness from the crab and the creaminess of the sauce needed acidity to balance it out. For dessert they did not have the tiramisu souffle :( bummer instead I got the White Chocolate Bread Pudding - it was really good; decadent and not overly sweet. The Molten chocolate cake was just like any other.
Food was outstanding - especially the table side mozerella
