da Benito Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Always a favorite of ours when we lived in N.J. Unfortunately we’re now a 3 hour drive away, but it was totally worth the ride. Brings back great memories, and the food and service are as excellent as always! My black bass entree special was so succulent and flavorful. A true gem of a restaurant!
Wonderful dinner with friends. The appetizer of pasta with bolognese sauce was outstanding. Everyone else enjoyed the goat cheese salad. Loved the Veal Chop breaded with salad on top. Although the steak dishes were enjoyed, the two steaks were very fatty. The Veal Chop with vegetables was wonderful as well. The lovely touch of cookies and biscotti was enjoyed. Would recommend Da Benito for a great night out. Looking forward to New Year's Eve dinner here....
If you want to try some of the best Italian food in the area, and in NJ in general, pay da Benito a visit. Benito has wonderful menu with ever-changing daily specials. Seafood often dominates the main specials, but they also do wonderful steak and veal specials. Not a meat eater? Plenty of nice pasta choices, including the famous 3-cheese ravioli (which isn't on the menu, BTW).
When my wife and I arrived at the restaurant there was no one to greet us, there were waitstaff which seem to be running, and I mean literally running all around the restaurant but no one acknowledged us. Eventually the hostess arrived and showed us to our table. After we sat several waiters came up to us and try to take our drink order seemingly like they didn’t know who had our table, we were also asked several times if they could take our dinner order after we had already placed it. There seems to be an ample amount of help just very unorganized . I guess it’s better than being ignored. We had the stuffed clams and pasta fagoli both were very good. For dinner we had the osso bucco and the strip steak again very well cooked and very good for dessert we shared a fruit Napoleon which again was excellent unfortunately we were finished with with our dessert by the time coffee came. I believe that if we had been seated in a different spot in the restaurant we wouldn’t of seen all the problems with the waitstaff, not terrible but we were seated right by the wait station and we saw and heard all that was going on. We will probably give them another chance, based on their food, but perhaps not on Saturday.
Food and service were fantastic. Our servers were attentive to all things food and beverage and the Maitre D' was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Our only complaint was the noise level, some sound proofing would certainly help and it was difficult to have a conversation at a normal volume and/or to hear each other, even though there was no background music playing.
We will definitely be back, we would likely just rethink timing to avoid some of the volume.
Dinner at Benito's is never disappointing. Service, food & wine are always top notch. I've been dining at Benito's for more than 25 years & all of my guests have always loved the dining experience. Whether you're a picky eater (like myself) or adventurous (my husband) Benito always delivers above & beyond.
The food and the service was excellent. The only recommendation I would make is for an eating / break area for the staff. The bartender was eating a plate of food while perparing drinks and the hostess was having a beer at the bar. This doesnt look professional.
Continues to be Best in a Class! Used to go all the time when I worked at Union Hospital. Went again this past weekend to find the food again, excellent. The service, matreD and the chef engaging and impeccable service. Even stayed and watched the Kentucky Derby after our meal was over at the bar. Penne Integrale was shared by my wife and I and the hint of Gorgonzola and roasted beets was tremendous. I had the duck special and it was cooked to perfection. Need to put this back on my rotation as I have enjoyed it every single time. The Moscato at the end of the meal added that Italian Flare that is evident from when you enter.
One word sums this Restaurant Up "SUPERB" the food is nothing less than OUTSTANDING! The selection is Great the Staff is MORE than Friendly! Always my Special Dinner Selection to visit! If you haven't been here, do yourself a Great Favor & Stop By you WONT be sorry you did!!!!
de Benito is an always reliable choice for dinner out on a Saturday evening. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the food and service always on the mark. de Benito feels like a throwback to an era when dining out was an experience to be anticipated and yet it has kept pace with the times and delivers on its promise of authentic food in a great setting.
