Cyprus Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend and the reviews were pretty good. It must have been an off night because we were really disappointed in our meal. The Pad Thai had a propane taste to it, strange but true. The sea bass was a bit over cooked, the fried calamari was gummy and the okrafries had no seasoning, just blah ....
The pork curry dish with rice was passable. With so many really good restaurants in Highlands, I’d be hard pressed to go back.
Service was extremely slow. We sat at table for at least 20 minutes before anyone even came over to our table. Food though was good enough to please my husband who is a very picky eater. That being said, we will return. We found the temperature extremely cool with all of the doors open.
The food was good but the service was slow. Our entrees were brought to the table but not the glasses of wine we had ordered. After a long wait, while our food was getting cold (we were, sitting next to a breezy open window), I finally had to get up from the table and find a server to ask them to bring the wine. Our server never checked back to see how our meals were. The attitude there was not very welcoming from the time we arrived. And we were not dressed like slobs.
We bought a cabin in Cashiers a couple years ago and we drive 20 minute once or twice a week to have dinner at Cyprus. Their food is ALWAYS excellent. We sit at the Kitchen bar, that looks over the cooking area, and watch the owner/chef do his magic! My husband and I have NEVER had a bad meal here. Anytime we have company in town we take them here. Highly recommend!!! You will not be sorry!
The food was ok. The pasta was homemade and delish. I ordered the Kentucky Bourbon steak and it was very boring with no hint of flavor and extremely greasy. The porch is a nice place to go for a cocktail with friends but they are trying to do too much with the menu and not doing a very good job. It is also expensive. Go for drinks skip the food!
Service and food never disappoint at this eclectic restaurant! You will find something on the menu for every taste. Excellent wine list with numerous good wines by the glass. Delicious specialty martinis, as well. Don't forget to save room for one of their unusual, tasty desserts!
I had such high hopes for Cyprus. Great location on the main drag, great ambience and warmth indoors. However....there were just too many things that didn't work out for us.
First - we ordered an appetizer of the fried okra w/raita. It came out nice and hot - but the dish was soggy. Of course, okra isn't crispy to begin with, but the deep fried coating should have been nice and crisp. Definitely wasn't.
Second - The french fries served with the steak frites were also soggy. I surmise that the oil they were using just wasn't hot enough. And the fries were also cool to the touch.
Third - I ordered a grouper and risotto dish. The grouper was lovely and tender. But the risotto? Ice cold!! It was obviously made in advance and then "reheated" Except - it wasn't reheated enough!
They were very good about taking it back and reheating it - but there's no reason that a chef should be sending out cold food
Just darn disappointed...
We had attended Cyprus years ago but left when no one even stopped by our table after a 15 minute wait. Our experience on Saturday was VERY different.....the service was outstanding and our waiter accommodated our every need! The atmosphere was delightful and the food was excellent! We'll be back and will definitely spread the word.
I can write a lot about this restaurant but all you have to know is the food is EXCELLENT! My husband and I love to sit at the counter, that over looks the working kitchen. Amazing!!! We are only at our cabin, in the next town, for 8 weeks during the summer and we come to Cyprus 1-2 times a week!!! I've never had a bad meal here! You won't be disappointed!!! ~Janice
We sat outside by a noisy speaker. The hostess was very good but the waitstaff was literally running around, one of them spilled olive oil over one person in our party due to rushing so much, the food was not very good but it was pricey! One got the feeling that there was no manager/adult supervision.
Situated on Main Street, this second floor restaurant offers both inside and rooftop dining. The menu represents multiple cuisines capable of satisfying almost any palate. My U.S. Kentucky Bourbon Flamed Skirt Steak was beautifully prepared with terrific assorted vegetables and garlic potatoes. My husband's Pad Thai Noodles with Steak, well-presented with tasty noodles, had steak that was not prepared medium-rare, as ordered, rendering the meat portion of the dinner inedible. Once brought to the attention of our server, it was dealt with appropriately. Sadly, this could have been remedied had the server, or anyone, stopped by our table once the meals had been delivered. The experience was unfortunate and detracted somewhat from our enjoyment of dinner but, having said that, we will return if we get back to Highlands.
Cyprus has a creative menu with choices from several different countries, such as French, Thai, Middle Eastern, Jamaican, Indian. All wereexcellent. Indoor dining room where we sat had no air conditioning, unfortunately. Service was friendly but busy. I would go there again if I returned to the Highlands area.
We arrived at 7:30, our reservation time and were seated right away. By 7:45 no one had come to ask what we wanted to drink. After hailing the hostess, Daniel showed up looking tired and dirty. He took a drink order and delivered it nearly 10 minutes later. In the meantime we became more and more bothered by the loud, abrasive music. It was hard for my wife and me to hear each other and it was some foreign dissonant tune that was NOT conducive to dining. We expressed our dissatisfaction whereupon they comped our drinks as we left. We went across the street to Wild Thyme and had one of the best meals ever.
The food is always delicious- I like the new menu options. Was a little disappointed with noise of moving tables around to set up for a big group- and that no one cleaned trash up off the floor (even after walking over it) until we said something to our server who immediately swept it up.
One of my favorite places in Highlands.
Highly recommend Cyprus - great variety and international dishes from various regions! Great presentation of the food, delicious appetizer and entree dishes - was hard to decide what to eat. Restaurant has an open kitchen so things can get a little rowdy - sit towards the street/windows or outside!! Great spot...must try - a great departure from the mostly stuffy restaurants in Highlands.
