Beautiful dining room with food to match. Try the grilled octopus
The three meat entree was not good. Very disappointed. Everything else was great. Very nice wine wall and atmosphere! Why I would ever order the three meat entree is my problem. ( my friend ordered it as well)
One of the best dinners I've had in a long time!
Presentation of the food was first rate, I just picked the wrong dish, everything else was first class. I recommend just pick a different main course. My wife loved her main course. She said it was the best salmon she ever had.
Dinner at Cypress was phenomenal. Drink selection was great and the cocktails were fantastic. The food was sublime from start to finish. The desert cocktails were an awesome final note to the meal. Service was exceptional and the vibe is very relaxing.
Beautiful restaurant with an impressive interior design and uncrowded feel. Our group had some very nice salads. Entrees were inconsistent. Chicken was lacking any memorable flavor. Gnocchi was not appealing and also less than flavorful. The flounder was plate-licking good. Service had some hiccups but was very pleasant. The restaurant was competently managed but may need some tweaking of their recipes.
It was a beautiful restaurant. It started with a crafted cocktail The twisted cosmo and ended with a hummingbird tart. The food and service were amazing.
Very good service. Food delicious. Gnocchi could have been better, and salmon tartare. Wine recommendations very good, and not just st recommending the most expensive wines. Trio of smoked meats, almond brie and cheeseboard all exceptional
Although my first steak came out overcooked, they corrected the problem and comped our appetizer. The food was delicious. Our server was wonderful. It was fun to watch them make Caesar dressing table side.
Victor our waiter was outstanding. Caesar salad made to order at the table, quite a treat.
Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with our meal at Cypress. The restaurant is huge (didn't expect that) and not intimate at all. It seemed as though they were trying to simply turn the tables - not customer focused. Two of the four dinners were overcooked (well done steak when we ordered medium-rare). Once it was corrected, the food was great. Despite ordering three bottles of wine and a check of over $600 we didn't get so much as an apology from anyone expect our waitress (who wasn't to blame at all for the quality of food). I had high hopes...
Food was mediocre - gnocchi and salmon dishes were not hot; 3 smoked meat dish was 1/3 good - sausage not tasty, pork belly was basically fat - duck was good. The service was very poor. Our waitress was not friendly, rushed, and not attentive.
The food was good and the atmosphere lively, although I think the interior decor was a schizophrenic-- the very modern colored lighting was a little at odds with everything else. Service was just okay. The server looked horrified that we asked for glasses of wine over a bottle, steak knives for steak, and pepper. Even if you think we were boorish, try not to let it show. We were very pleasant and not trying to be difficult. Service in general was disjointed. There were a lot of servers but they didn't seem to know what the others were doing. It was very busy, maybe that was the problem. I would give it another chance because of the taste of the food.
This restaurant was amazing Defdinately reccomend going
Wonderful meal. Service was outstanding and so was the food!!!
Beautiful restaurant with high-backed chairs in a large common seating area. Open semi-circle kitchen in back with lounge upstairs. Lights were recessed and changed colors every few minutes, creating a neat effect.
Food was good, on-par with most Charleston restaurants. Started with tuna spring rolls, tasty and lightly fried to perfection. Inside was savory and salty with a hint of citrus. For entrees, wife got the tuna, which was fried like Wellington in a light pastry. It came on a pile of edamame, which was almost overwhelming. We loved the fish - it was rare and tender - but the edamame was a distraction. I got the smoked meats trio, which consisted of pork belly, turkey leg, and homemade kielbasa, complete with homemade pickles and beans. Beans were good, but was not served hot. Overall, however, the dish was great in its flavors and presentation.
Service was excellent - prompt and polite. Drinks were original and consisted of twists on old favorites. The wine selection is a floor-to-ceiling display, rivaling the best restaurants in the city.
As a whole I would recommend Cypress. It is original and unique, offering something different from the norm.
Wonderful experience. The tuna was out of this world & the service was outstanding. A must dining experience when in charleston.
Had dinner here recently before attending a show at the Gaillard. Great atmosphere, excellent service, friendly staff, great Caesar salad prepared tableside, and delicious entree.
Long weekend with friends.
From the moment we came in and had drinks at the bar to being seated and ordering our food, Cypress was excellent. Very friendly, helpful staff and the food was superb. I would definitely go back
By far the best food I had in Charleston, and a nice reprieve from the standardized menus in the historic district. Highly recommend the charcuterie and cured meats.
Very appealing decor was offset by 15 minute wait despite a reservation which was followed by 10 minute wait for a server to show up. Very pleasant server ignored us during the meal, the wine was very good, the fried Brie salad was exceptional while the chicken dish was 60% peas, ugh. Was not a pleasant meal and doubtful that we will return as Charleston has too many options.
Here for a Birthday dinner and as usual it was a wonderful experience. We had Caesar Salad for two which was prepared from scratch tableside like the good old days. We both then ordered Steak Diane prepared with a fillet instead of their usual strip preparation and Cypress was great about accommodating the substitution. A creme brulee finished the evening off. Everything was delicious!
Very disappointing. Cheese board missing the honeycomb listed on menu, prosciutto-wrapped chicken tasted like boiled ham, puréed corn with beans etc pretty but tasteless. Server pleasant but woefully lacking in training about food prep, etc. Apparently original chef long gone...
The food was seriously underwhelming for the price. The waiter was too chatty. Not worth was I paid. Magnolias was better tasting and had a better price.
Had not been back to Charleston in 20 yrs. only to find that this group of investors had added Cypress to its collection of wonderful restaurants.
Kenneth was superb as our waiter, very attentive, great personality once some conversation was exchanged.
Food was very good, not excellent for the amount of $$ you pay for a plate.
Only reason we would not return is that there are sooo MANY other wonderful restaurant choices in this city there is no reason to repeat.
Great ambiance located in the tourist section of Charleston. Nice wine list and good service.
This is our second experience at Cypress and both trips were outstanding. We like it as a special place to bring family and friends.
Our waitress was Anna and she rocked! Great wit and humor, just the right amount of conversation. Highly recommend her. The food lived up to its reputation, perfectly prepared and hot to the table. My wife and I went there for our 25th anniversary, and she LOVED it. Mission accomplished, thanks Cypress.
Excellent ambience, modern decor. Well balanced menu, extensive wine list. Servers recomended wines were very good.
The service was great. I chose the wrong food to enjoy my meal. I had the Tuna spring roll and was not expecting it is be fried. I also had the prosciutto wrapped chicken and it had a very smokey flavor. It was a little too over powering for the tender chicken. Everyone else loved their food. I would go back.
I started with the cheese plate which included local honey--yummy! I also had the filet which was cooked to perfection. The strawberries and champagne cake was divine!
Pretty good. Not as good as last few times. Very busy and server tried hard but too busy.
Needed backup. Food was good but didn't blow us away. Party of 5 .
Everything was wonderful! I ordered the filet for my meal and it was cooked perfectly, juicy, and flavorful. The champagne cake for dessert is to die for.
Only reason not to rate this a 5 star was the wait for 20 minutes and the obligatory "have a drink at the bar and we'll come to get you when your table is ready"! The waitress was great, and food excellent! Nicely done tableside ceasar salad! Salmon in puff pastry was terrific as was the tuna preparation!
Only complaint the Soufflé was not good. Tasted like egg whites. Not a normal soufflé.
Great local restaurant for fine dining! Excellent service
While our server couldn't have been nicer or more professional, the appetizer and salads arrived at the same time. Caesar salad was good, not great. My husband had the filet which was perfect! However, he had to ask for fork and knife. I had the tuna and it was absolute perfection! A few glitches, but overall, very good!
Soft shell crabs were amazing. Service is impeccable.
