Cypress Grill Ratings and Reviews
We have dined at Cypress Grill many times over the years. We've never been disappointed. This week was the exception. We arrived exactly at the time of our reservation. The young man who greeted us seemed a little confused. He told us that we would have to wait awhile to be seated. This is the exact same thing he told other diners who arrived without reservations. This has never happened to us before. We waited about 15 minutes and were seated. This is exactly the way diners without reservations were treated. I hope this was a one off for that night. If it continues, we'll rethink dining at one of our favorite restaurants in Austin.
Cypress Grill has a nice selection of main courses and appetizers, some of which are at special prices during Happy Hour. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday and had not needed the reservation, but the place filled up quickly after, about, 6:30 p.m. so we were glad we had made the reservation anyway. The cocktails were delicious, the main course was excellent, the desert was well worth it.
Cypress Grill is my go-to place for all kinds of events. From a date night with my spouse, to a gathering of family or friends, we are always treated well. The waitstaff, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen all work together to make the dining experience great. Laissez les bons temps rouler - EVERY DAY!
Service was prompt, waitperson courteous and friendly. I loved the grilled trout with menuiere sauce, sauteed squash dish and garlic mashed. We arrived during happy hour so I also enjoyed a half price mojito which was very nice. However, my son was not happy with his chicken fried ribeye. He said it was thin and not good quality.
Everyone enjoyed their food and plan on returning. I was a little disappointed that we arrived and the two different couples in front of us who were walk-ins were seated at tables and then when I indicated we had reservations, we were told all the tables were now taken. We had to wait a bit for someone to leave in order to be seated.
Very good food! Includes excellent fried shrimp platter, French fries, and Cole slaw. Service was very good and a mistake in delivering my order of a side was corrected immediately. A bit noisy with children so recommend going later in the evening for dinner.
Good go to local food place. Usually noisy though this visit wasn't overly so. Great variety on the menu well prepared. Service staff was different than past few time we visited and we had to request things (such as remoulade sauce for shrimp po'boy) that usually would be an upfront option. It took 2 requests to finally have it brought. Otherwise, food and service great as usual!
Went to Cypress Grill based on a recommendation from a Louisiana native who knows cajun cooking. We were not disappointed -- blackened salmon followed by cobbler and ice cream was outstanding. Went on a Friday evening -- I recommend using on-line to reserve a table. Wait staff (Jersey) was attentive and engaging. Will definitely go back.
Cypress Grill has been a favorite for a long time. We drive from downtown to this wonderful neighborhood restaurant. The food is always done very well the managements is always on their game. The fish is always prepared very well and the Creole influence of the cuisine makes it a winner every time!
