Great to find a restaurant that takes lunch reservations in Rice Village!! Mildly disappointed in all the guests sharing one small portion of the establishment due to the unnecessary congestion and noise. Food and service were up on par with expectations for a high end table service venue.
Love the chip and dip, friendly, good food, nice, open, modern setting, will be back! Thank you
Beverly's smiling greeting is worth the visit & Carlos was the consumat bartender . . . as always!
Great choices on a truly delicious menu. Great for groups.
From Beverley's beautiful, smiling greeting to manager Brenda's personal touch --- not to mention great table service, food presentation & taste --- another great experience at Cyclone Anaya's Rice Village!
Brenda is the consummate manager & host . . . Carlos makes the "Perfect Margarita" . . . Great first visit!
Although this is a lovely establishment, there were many issues with our visit.
1 - the AC in the area where we sat was not working or able to handle the amount of people. I am usually cold in a restaurant and I was literally sweating. It was terrible! We did let the manager know and he didnt seem to be able to do anything about it.
2 - the waiter overcharged my credit card by $100 and was not even listening to me when I explained his math error. I feel like he was trying to cheat me and take advantage of me. I will NEVER go back because I have lost trust in the restaurant because of this occurrence.
Go at your own risk.
The food and ambiance was excellent. The server was good just slow. The restaurant wasnt crowded. I wouldn't recommend going with a group of people on an hour to hour and half lunch unless your employer is lenient/flexible.
Provided lunch for my employees during Houston restaurant week at Cyclone Anaya’s and it was a great time throughout their lunch. The menu options were a great deal and everyone was very pleased with the food and service too.
Tables were too close together. Food was fine. Would only go again if no other Mexican restaurants were available.
Delicious. Wendy was a great server. Drinks were fabulous as always. Yum, yum, yum!
Excellent brunch spot. Great service and really good food.
Adequate Mexican food. Standard fare. The waiter was not friendly. Perhaps he was having a bad day.
I didn’t think the food was worth the price. The servings are small depending what you order. My husband and I spent $60 on a dinner here.
Awesome waiter, very attentive but not over the top. Just like we like.
Very poor service and a long wait. Took an hour from arrival to get food and asked to order immediately--ordered 20mins later. Asked to pay early--weren't able to pay until we were already late back to work. Had to get food to go and more than 1 order was wrong.
The drinks are very good to enjoy and the food has very good flavor. Finding a parking spot can be fustrating
Super attentive staff, good food and delicious mimosas!
Cyclone Anaya's has changed all the best reasons to go there. Used to be a staple in our summer brunch rotation, but now is no longer an option. Their penny mimosas were removed, the back patio looks cheaply decorated, and the ambiance is simply dull. Such a shame they've changed for the worst. Wouldn't recommend to a new friend and will be withdrawing my recommendations made to old friends. We can all find somewhere better.
Great and good
We had to wait for silverwer and then another server brought them. The cheese was burnt and overall it was slow
We have really wanted to like this Cyclone Anaya's, but just can't quite get there. Convenient location and good service. However, the food is just so-so; a very "gringo" take on Tex-Mex. Salsa is spiceless. Tamales are simply a log of thick massa. Brisket tacos were meh, as were the breakfast tacos. Rice was bland. The only notable positive we found was the $8 big carafe of mimosas! (probably weekend brunch, only). Didn't try the margaritas, so cannot comment on them. -- Parking is also mysteriously hidden, essentially forcing you to used the paid (not-complementary) valet parking.
Great food and location. Highly recommend! A must do in Houston!
Waitress forgot margarita and when asked was sarcastic in saying “well you didn’t specify what kind you wanted”
Also stated that manager spoke to person who made reservation and required 20% gratuity and only 3 checks. When I clarified I was the person who made the reservation and NEVER spoke to a manager considering this reservation was made with open table.
Cyclone Anaya's is a great place to eat in other area locations, but in the Rice Village, not so much. This shopping center has become an unpleasant place to patronize every since the implementation of the parking meters. I had forgotten about this as I have not shopped in the village in years. My office was there to celebrate an employee's retirement. Our waiter wasn't bad, he was just a bit of a dud. He did not add anything to our experience. The restaurant was empty during what should have been the lunch rush and the food was just okay.
I'm very pleased with the service here. The food was surprisingly very good! Good job Cyclone Anaya 's I will definitely be back.
we got sick from the food. The server, Felix, was asked 5 times for lemon for the water before he brought it to us. the order was incorrect, but we had little time to wait for a new meal to be prepared. Ugh, we should have skipped this.
Outstanding variety of good food. Can miss, particularly if you have varied palates as your guest. Great service and relaxing ambiance. We ate outside and it was fantastic because of the comfortable atmosphere, weather and low noise level. Can't miss.
The food was the delicious and the drinks were perfect I will definitely be back
Awesome food, fast delivery, great drinks. Wait staff very attentive and nice
Honestly, this was not our first location choice for this birthday dinner but there were 7 of us and the other ideal locations didn’t have availability for a reservation (we preferred Midtown location or Durham.)
Our server was Felix and he was not only inattentive he was rude. We sat on the patio and our group arrived in three, ten minute intervals. The first two to arrive got their drinks as my friend and I were walking up and they told the waiter there’s more from our group right there, I heard them and made eye contact with the server, and he ignored the comment and didn’t come back to take our drink orders. We waited about 5 minutes and flagged another waiter down to order drinks. He was very nice and Johnny on the spot. We planned to order appetizers but we’re never asked if we wanted anything. The first round of margaritas came out top shelf when we ordered regular. Now, this wouldn’t have been a problem had they charged us for regular margaritas, like we ordered, but when the bill came the waiter said “it’s only $1.50 more” and left the ticket as is charging us for top shelf. We had to flag a waiter down every time we needed something, more drinks or to take our appetizer/food orders. The patio had 4-5 tables with two waiters so it’s not as though they were slammed. The third set of people to arrive ordered drinks about ten minutes after my girlfriend and I ordered our first round and all of the drinks came at the same time. The waiter, Felix, rolled his eyes on multiple occasions when we asked for napkins. We asked for meat in the queso and a large order of quesadillas; the queso came with no meat and the quesadillas were a half order. When we brought this to his attention he again rolled his eyes. The meat for the queso came out after the rest of the food when this was supposed to be an appetizer. The other half of the large quesadillas came out after everyone was finished with their meals. Will NEVER return to this location. Loud & kids running around.
My ONLY negative to the whole experience was that it felt like they weren’t ready for us, even with the reservation. We ended up pulling a chair up to a small table for 4 and were very crowded, we ordered a lot of food. Other than that, the food was amazing, service was great!!
I was somewhat disappointed. Appetizer came after entree, both arrived cold, and presentation was lackluster. It was not consistent with previous times I had gone to this location. Margaritas were okay. I had to prompt server to remind him I had ordered a to go item. Server removed chips from table and we were still finishing our drinks, before the check arrived. The table was somewhat dirty.
My family and I went for dinner, kinda of large group. My brother in law was home from Italy and we just really wanted to enjoy ourselves. We had an amazing time! Alex was our server and we loved him!! The manager was extremely helpful also. I am a new mom and need some additional things in order for my little one and I to enjoy our time out. And the manager went above and beyond. I am truly great. I don’t get out much these days and when I do service like this is worth my time. My 3 month old even enjoyed it. Making hardly any noise. Thank you so much guys!
There was one thing, no changing table in the bathroom. I thought they may have one in the handicap stall, but no bueno. So the unisex counter it was. Parents just have to make it happen the best way they can.
Disappointing! Although the chicken tortilla soup was yummy, that was the only good part of the meal. Ordered the $29 ceviche, with what the menu says is crab, that had no taste whatsoever. The bit of fish & shrimp on the bottom of the dish had the lime juice and onions, but all the shredded "crab" on the top had absolutely nothing on it. No salt, no pepper, no lime juice, no onions, NOTHING! The main dish, lobster enchiladas, was the total opposite. They were so salty we couldn't eat them. We complained to the waiter about the two inedible dishes, and he responded nothing. We ate only the soup and paid for a full course meal. The waiter didn't even apologize, bring us a new dish, offer to make it up to us in some way (maybe a free dessert to appease our mood and our hunger?). He could have made a difference in our experience but had no desire to offer good service to his customers. I visit Houston often. First and last time I eat here!
We went for my daughter’s birthday. The food was ok. The queso came out cold. The service was terrible. After we ordered, our waitress never came back to our table. It took forever to order a second round of drinks. I told them it was my daughter’s birthday and they didn’t do anything.
We sat outside. It was a bit chilly. It would be nice if they had some warmers for chilly nights. The food was wonderful! The service was a little bit lacking and slow.
What an absolutely terrible experience. Visited this location due to the fact that the Durham location has absolutely no parking available most Friday nights. Made a reservation at 8pm and my party of 7 weren’t seated until 9pm. It was nearly 10pm before someone came and took our orders . Food was over cooked and cold before we got it around 11pm. The worst part is, I planned the gathering to meet with some old grad school friends who’d come as far as El Paso and I have never been so embarrassed. The manager on duty was a guy who was nice nasty and continued to speak to the fact that they were “just so busy”. I’ll never patronize again.
