Cyclone Anaya's - Mosaic Ratings and Reviews
This was our 3rd time at Cyclone Anaya’s and honestly not sure if we will go back. We have not had great service on our last 2 visits. This particular time, there were several issues. First off, we ordered our drinks. I ordered a mango margarita on the rocks with sugar but got a frozen mango margarita with salt. I didn’t say anything because mistakes happen and figured I’ll drink it either way. We ordered nachos for appetizer and of course our meals and it literally all came out at the same time. This is my biggest pet peeve with restaurants. What’s the point of an appetizer?? Also, the waitress would walk by and look at our table but never actually asked if we needed anything. We had to ask for water when she walked by and glanced at us. It’s a shame we continue to receive poor service because we love the food and drinks but at what point do we say we’ve had enough. We were also seated at a table by the front door and it was so cold because the door was constantly being opened.
Service was present but very slow. Empty drinks in table, server couldn’t be found most of the time. We were near the kitchen so could see they were not running food- don’t know where they were. Restaurant was not busy, staffed well for the crowd, but server wasn’t around and the service was slow. We watched people’s food sit in the counter for over 5 minutes before it was run to their table (they may have asked for it to be held)
Food was tasty but value for portion was only okay at best. I would certainly go again in hopes for faster service, but only once more chance to impress me for the overall experience to keep me as a returning customer.
I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at Cyclone. I was expecting an average experience, but the food was great, mimosa deal for brunch was perfect, got seating outside which was nice for people watching, but not too loud. Great experience, will definitely recommend to others and come again.
We waited over thirty minutes for our drinks for a party of 3. This was the theme throughout the evening. We waited over an hour, close to 1.5 hrs for food. We had trouble even flagging down our waiter, asked two other waiters passing by to get him and he still never appeared. Finally asked a third waiter who kindly just took her order. The first to wait staff to pass by could not have same less interested. All but the last waiter who stepped up to take her order we're completely unapologetic. Food was average at best, One order came out wrong. I doubt we will go back despite the great location and good outdoor seating.
Our specialty enchiladas with steak were excellent, but the queso dip was so-so. Since this is one of the main reasons I attend a Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant...I was unimpressed.
Our server was very kind and helpful and my margarita on the rocks was great! Tasty chips and salsa, too!
Saw bad reviews on service but did not believe them. I was wrong. Food came and omitted my entree. Tell server - no response. No sign of waitress for 10 minutes. Ask hostess, then manager then other waiter about problem - no response for another 15 minutes. Waitress finally shows up - entree arrives 30 minutes after rest of party finished dinner. They offer beer - forget to deliver until dinner finished. Truly worst service I have experienced in dining.
Cyclone Anaya's got a good review in the Wa. Post, but our experience last Saturday evening justified the low marks it is getting online. Our waiter was alert and friendly, but otherwise the restaurant seems sort of lost and chaotic. The margarita was watered-down, salsa unremarkable, and the food arrived very late. The Taco Soup, however, is excellent! The bathrooms were in a poor state, wherein the posted inspection form showed the last inspection two months ago. Let's just call it inattention. But, the Mosaic District is fascinating and lots of fun. Best, however, to trying a neighboring establishment.
Upon arrival we were told by two different people that the hostess would be right there. We had to stand and wait for about 5 minutes for somebody to seat us. We asked to be seated outside and were then told to just go find her own seat. We did find a table easily however I did see the hostess seat other people. Was kind of odd to me.
Server finally showed up and offered us drink menus. Was not able to explain a few of the drinks to us as she did not have the knowledge. Drinks were fine food was just okay. Guacamole I expected better from a Mexican restaurant. Was nice to eat outside and enjoy the sites of Mosaic District. The food was not poor such that I wanted to send it back but it wasn't awesome and that I would want to eat there again either.
We were seated but didn't get served for at least five minutes. Everything we ordered took forever (drinks, appetizers and main meal). Water was always empty, no one ever came to refill our glasses. Food was great, but every time I come here the service is awful.
I would like to give an excellent review but the service started bad and became great. Apparently the restaurant was short in staff, nobody came to our table for longer than normal, we had to call for service and called manager to complain. He assigned us the "best server" he had, we asked for frozen margaritas and we were told they were no more, can you believe a Mexican rest with no frozen margaritas? but the waiter came with frozen margaritas and explained she had to ask the bar to do them for us. One of us ordered a snack bar and came late, she almost returned it. The place was not full so we did not understand why the delays. our table was too close to a both and the noise was high. originally we sat outside but mosquitoes were bothering, we asked for citronella, they did not have them. we asked to be moved inside, we took a table, I carried my water from outside to inside, and then nobody came to our table until we asked for service. the waiter was great and she gave us price of happy hour to minimize the inconveniences but we only had one drink each. the place is in an excellent location. the service needs improvement, I would like to return and see a better service.
I decided to go, despite all the negative reviews, because WaPo rated the restaurant as having good TexMex. But I should have listened to the reviews and stayed away. Restaurant is dirty, margaritas terrible (watered-down lemonade), and the food was poor. My beef enchiladas arrived in a pool of grease on my plate. Don't bother trying this place for yourself.
The food was good, but the service was awful. The restaurant was not particularly crowded, but our server, who introduced himself as Juan, disappeared for long stretches. It's a good thing that we were not pressed for time; after we finished eating, we waited 45 minutes before Juan reappeared. I will not dine at this restaurant again, and I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends. This was my first time dining at Cyclone Anaya's, and it is also the last time I will dine there.
the staff is friendly and pleasant. service is good, checked on us few times but did not fill up the water unless we asked. this is our 2nd time eating at Cyclone, we liked the food the 1st time and decided to come again driving the 30 minutes from our home. This time my food was the Anaya chicken, the chicken was very dry, the description stated "slices" of avocado, there was 2 very very thin slices, 2 slices of tomatoes and the rice portion was also very small. I have to say I was very disappointed with the meal, certainly I wont order it again if we do go there again. the other dish was the beef fajita, it was good but again for a $5 less, in other places that serves this dish, we would have gotten more beef and the other trimmings than here for $22.
Not bad food, but nothing special, and careless about details in a way that will just kill them around here. Our server was pleasant but inexperienced. Kitchen: if a taco is requested plain and you send it covered in spicy slaw, you don't "fix" it by dumping off most of the slaw (badly, at that) and returning it 30 seconds later. Despite the minor glitches and my half-brown avocado, we were still with you up to that point. Disappointing. Ultimately, there are just too many better options around Mosaic to consider going back.
I took the whole family out to the restaurant for fathers day. It was my dads first time and he loved it. He is a very picky man and he said he gives the restaurant and outstanding review. He enjoyed the music, the food , the drinks, and the service. Our waitress was very friendly and very patient. The restaurant in the mosaic district is great ! our waitresses name was Meleni (with glasses) the manager on duty was very attentive with the waitress, great attitude. We didn't miss anything at our table. The menu can be just a little pricey but trust me it is all worth it. GREAT FOOD !!! We will see you all soon!
Very authentic Mexican food at a good price. Chips were perfect, not greasy. Salsa was outstanding. Asked for extra hot and it was made special cooked with jalapeños, not by adding hot sauce. Crab nachos are a must! Service was a little slow but people watching on the patio entertained us. Would definitely go back.
This is the third time I've been here and experienced poor service. It takes an eternity for them to deliver your plate of slop (note: Mexican cuisine has way more depth than this pretty Taco Bell would have you believe). Our waiter this time — and on previous visits— was somber and never cracked a smile. While that's not usually a big deal, when I didn't reorder drinks, I was on the receiving end of one heck of an F you face.
I've given this restaurant three attempts and I've decided that this visit will be my last. It's edible, but certainly not an experience. My tip would be to order out & just enjoy their Old El Paso replicas at home.
I am a lover off all food Latin and Caribbean. I was disappointed with the food. It was tasty but it was just OK. I want to contribute that to not being able to decide on what to select from the menu. My friend was not impressed with her mojito which tasted like a REALLY GOOD lemonade. The waitress had to bring her a shot of rum, which still left it underwhelming.
I was also disappointed with all the waiting for anything water, food, rum shot...the place was not busy AT ALL.
Granted we came for the first time on Cinco de Mayo, but it was just not good. We ordered 2 jumbo margaritas that tasted watered down, the guac was $10 for 3 small, small mediocre tasting scoops, and the fish tacos were bland. My husband ordered the lobster tacos, and for 2 small tacos, you would think they would put in a bit more than 2 small chunks of meat for the price they charge. What really made me mad was one of the kids meals we ordered for our 11 month old. It came with beans on the side, with what I thought was sautéed pieces of green pepper. I gave him a piece not thinking much of it, until he immediately started crying and grabbing his face. I took what I thought was pepper and popped it in my mouth only to find, nope. It was JALAPEÑO. it's part my fault for assuming, but isn't it common sense to NOT put spicy stuff on a kids meal! ??? I've read other reviews about the service and for us it was true as well. The waiter seemed annoyed and rude. I get that it was a busy night, but there's no need for the attitude we received.
It's too bad because this place looked promising on paper.
It was terrible. It was Cinco De Mayo and the music was so loud at 6:00 PM that we couldn't hear each other speak. We lost our voices, we asked to have the music turned down a little and they wouldn't. It was my birthday and I was very disappointed. They also wouldn't give us a table outside when I called to ask because they didn't want to save a table On Cinco De Mayo. I was extremely disappointed and I never write a bad review.
