Cuvee Wine & Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Reservations were made several weeks in advance and upon arrival on three tables were occupied yet I was told I could not have a booth. We were then sat in a drink prep area and saw our server, maybe five times.
This is our third trip. First trip was tremendous, these last two, not so much. For the money we definitely recommend choosing another location.
My husband and I have dined at Curvee over the course of a year, love the menu, the wine list and the ambiance. Where is misses for us it seating that we get, we have been placed at a table by a hostess station after calling a reservation ahead, we requested a booth but it seems "more important" guests take priority. This last time we had a party of 6 and were seated in the back over flow room, where glasses and dishes were staged and an entry door to the kitchen. Again made a reservation in advance, made a note to them this was for 2 birthday's of very special friends of ours. We were lacking in service, my husband never did get wine with his dinner, our wine that was served to us was on a table across from us and we had to pour ourselves to refill our glasses. When we spend $200 on a dinner for 2 we expect more, after all this is what they notarize themselves on . So no, we will not be back, we drive 45 minutes with high expectations and it just doesn't meet them, it's missed it's value for us, we have good restaurants in our area, not nearly the drive. We will miss the lovely decor, romantic aura and the wine selection. Also, my husband did express his dissatisfaction with the manager and they did offer some compensation but after this last time it really doesn't matter anymore.
We have been here several times before however Saturday night was sure a less than desirable evening. Service was good but receiving any food at all was very slow. Other tables were complaining but we were not in a hurry. The main course was very skimpy for the price. Hardly any seafood on a large dish of rice. It will be awhile before we return. They better change or lose a lot of customers.
Had a great experience the week before so we decided to go again. The front-end staff was very pleasant. The waiter was
inattentive after our order was placed. He grabbed my salad plate before I had finished it! We needed a few things and he was not responsive. When we finished our meal, he disappeared for a long period of time leaving us no time for desert. A couple of our meals were not as we expected. Very disappointing since the restaurant was not that busy after 8pm that night.
My husband and I decided to have dinner in Ocala staying in the Villages. Guided by our energetic and knowledgable waiter, Ray, we ordered the seared tuna and portugese clams for appetizers, followed by the asian short ribs and pescatore for dinner and blackberry cheesecake for dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the courses.
The welcoming was first class, including receiving a rose for my friend and I. Our server, Ray, was very knowledgeable provided top notch service. We had the Brie for an appetizer with apricot and while seed mustard on a crisp bread; it was full of flavor. My friend had the Ribeye Filet, and I had the Pescatore. The presentation was appealing. I sampled the Ribeye, it melted in my mouth. The Pescatore had ample amounts of shrimp, scallops, lobster, mussels. It was a heavier dish than what I normally order, so I had leftovers (I reheated it with no problem). We finished dinner with a creamsicle creme brûlée. Overall, the dining was impeccable.
Went for my birthday dinner. The ambiance was awesome, the wait staff attentive, and the food was good. I wasn't impressed by the duck, but my mom, dad, and brother enjoyed their meals. Didn't get a chance to try the wines, but that's for my next visit. Would definitely recommend to others.
We went for Valentines' Day, and the restaurant had a reduced menu for the evening. Our waiter was great...really attentive and making sure we had what we needed. The appetizers, a Ceasar salad and another salad they had for the evening, were good. Our entrees were mixed results. The risotto that was served with the seafood mix was mushy and way overcooked. The seafood itself was well done. The polenta cake with the salmon was flavorless, and over cooked, but the salmon was cooked nicely. The red velvet cake for dessert was also mixed....cake itself was good, but the icing was buttercream. It really needed the sourness of the cream cheese icing to balance out the sweet. Overall, a nice evening, but probably would not go back.
Even under new management, it's still one of our favs. Miss a few of the menu items that are no longer offered. But, we will continue to go and enjoy what is offered. We have spent Valentine's Day every year except for 2014 at Cuvee. As well, as a few other special occasions. Loyal customers! What a surprise is was to see that John had returned. That in itself was an extra added surprise for our special evening out.
Very disapointed that there wasnt rib eye on the menu. myself and several customers were in shock that the rib eye had been taken off the menu, Raymon the waiter was an absolute pleasure. Very kind, and understanding. Great attitude and presence. Even though we didn't get our rib eye, the manager was pretty gracious to speak to us and kindly give us the bad news (Guy in Yellow tie)
We were afraid that with the change in owners the quality of food and service might suffer/.
We are happy to report that it didn't affect either one. The new menu contains some really
good choices but retains a few of our favorites.
We heartily recommend CuVee to our friends and will enjoy going there ourselves on a
From the moment we entered the restaurant until the moment we left our experience was fabulous. Our server Raymond was very attentive to our needs. My mother has a food allergies and Raymond coordinated with the chef to suit her needs for a good meal. Our entrees were divine and so were our desserts. It was a great birthday celebration dinner and we will be back soon!
Accolades to the restaurant AND OpenTable. While traveling in Florida we used OpenTable to find good restaurants & with Cuvee Wine & Bistro we hit the jackpot. In the box asking for special requests we wrote that 2 of our party of 4 had hearing aids & requested to be put in a quiet corner if possible. We were met by the owner/manager & shown their "wine room" that had a table that could seat 6 & were asked if we would like to eat in privacy. We happily accepted & were treated as royalty. Ray, our server, was excellent. He elaborated on every dish we asked about & was always available but not intrusive plus being very personable. You really got the feeling he was your friend & he made you feel special. One of our party had an 85th birthday the next day & when Ray found out, they treated us to a dessert with a large candle that's flame shot 3 feet into the air. A real unexpected celebration! We were so taken with them we asked to have our pictures taken in front of the restaurant with them before leaving. A must stop for anyone in the Ocala area. PLUS, I am so glad we found OpenTable.
I took my mom here to celebrate her birthday and the experience was wonderful, the service was incredible ( Thank you, Ray! ), the decor beautiful and the food ... yum! The grilled Caesar salad was the best I'd ever had. The wine selection and the unique "Pour Sampling" feature they have is very nice for those who like to sample wines without having to buy an entire glass or bottle. This would be a great place for a romantic dinner out or even just drinks and dessert ... great menu, quiet with private seating options, and impeccable service. I will definitely go back.
This restaurant had over 100 wines that you can serve yourself 1 oz, 4oz. and 6oz. portions using a charge card provided when you food order is taken. This is an amazing way to taste wines you have never had. Your server will obtain the wine of your choice, if you wish. Wines are also available by the bottle. The food was amazing as was our server. Our appetizers were Portuguese Clams sautéed with chorizo, and red peppers in a cilantro tomato broth and Fried Calamari Croquettes stuffed with calamari, pablano peppers, bacon, and cream cheese, with a cranberry Thai chili dipping sauce. Both were creative and bursting with flavor. The creativity did not stop there. My wife selected Fillet Croùte de Moelle, a Filet mignon topped with a bone marrow crust, served with seasonal roasted vegetables, and a parsnip potato puree, with sauce Bordelaise. My entrée was Beef Bourguignon. Slow braised short rib with seasonal roasted root vegetables, and new potatoes, in a Bourguignon demi-glaze. WOW and WOW! This will be a regular stopping point on our trip to Florida.
We decided to go to Cuvee for New Year's Eve and definitely made the right choice! Service, food, wine and atmosphere were all great. Even the owner came by the table to check on us-you don't see that at the "chain" restaurants!
The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and the veggies just right. Already planning our next dinner there.
My husband and I were a bit apprehensive when the restaurant changed hands and some of the
'servers we were familiar with left. I am glad to report that the food and service have lost nothing in
the change and the new menu/chef have improved the dining experience greatly. Let's keep up the
good work, please.
overall we had a wonderful dinner- The only disappointment to me was the duck, which was a bit dry. On the other hand, I have only had duck on two other occasions; maybe I just don't like it so much. My husbands sea bass was very good, as were the autumn salad and veggies. We will be back
They didn't have the wine on the menu that was ordered and substituted without telling customer until end of meal. I didn't like the wine but didn't want to fuss. Hard to believe an established and advertised wine bistro would not have the wine listed on the menu and then sneak in another substitute without telling the customer hoping they wouldn't notice - don't like the dishonesty and won't go back. 2 of 3 meals good, lamb rack on menu greasy and tasteless. They did comp the bad wine but the dishonesty leaves a really bad taste.
My friend and I went to Cuvee approximately 6 months after it opened and had a bad dining experience overall. Months later we gave it a second try and everything was fantastic (service, price, wine, food, etc.). This last experience left me feeling that I had paid way too much for the quality of my meal which included an appetizer and the duck. I understand that alcohol is overpriced, in restaurants but the wine prices were very high for the quality of wine offered.
The prices were very high for the small portions (especially the appetizers). The steak was so-so. Should have been suspicious when there was no written dessert menu; the waiter simply read off the selections. When we got the bill ($12.00 for a regular size slice of carrot cake; ouch) I was not pleased. The tiny appetizers and desserts are dressed up elaborately (I guess to detract from how small they are). We will return to our local higher end steak restaurant for special occasions. I don't know where these positive reviews are coming from. We felt ripped off and won't be back.
Our server Jesse knew his wines. The brie to start was to die for, my husband had the lettuce wedge- awesome but almost a meal. We shared both. The special Osso Bucco was delicious but didn't think about the risotto that is not a personal favorite- just too heavy. I had a petite filet that was good. I am always interested to try new organic grass fed beef. Needless to say we each took half home and had a nice meal the next night. Complimentary dessert was very nice and unexpected. Thank you.
We very much enjoyed the wine bar. Good wine selection, reasonable in price and they offer 3 samples sizes. We arrived early (615pm) and tried several wines with some light food, then did dinner and sampled some more wines. By the time we had dinner it was fairly full, but still reasonable on the noise level. We will definitely try it again, although the final bill was on the high side. If you live in the area it would be great to just sample some wines.
Cuvee offers a great experience. As soon as we entered the girl behind the bar explained how the wine tasting worked. Never having done this she directed us to our requested wines and came out to help us get started. As it turned out this same person was our waitress and provided us with outstanding service. Food and atmosphere outstanding.
