Cutler's Ratings and Reviews
The entrees and accompaniments were creative and quite good, particularly the salmon. Dessert , an apple crisp with caramelized toasted pecans topped with ice cream and warm caramel sauce, was spectacular. The only negative tho was the somewhat rapid-beat music which was annoying and stressing. Service was very good.
I came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and could not have been more impressed. The service was phenomenal from the friendly hostess to our helpful server. The food was great and really matched the great atmosphere. Thank you to the whole Cutlers Crew for making this special occassion that much more special.
My wife and I spent a great evening with dinner at Cutlers. Our first experience and will be back! The food is amazing and the service is fantastic! They treated us as we were the only two dining that night. There is a piano player that was awesome also! Played everything from Beethoven, to Pink, to everybody loves Raymond. All 3 courses and the wine was some of the best that Athens provides.
Went to dinner there for my daughters graduation, expected a regular menu, and was told that it was buffet only. Totally misrepresented the dining experience. Thought I was going to a steak house for dinner, not a Golden Corral. Especially when they told me it was $60 per person for over cooked terrible looking food.
Fine dining choices in Athens are limited. With a nice selection of beef and seafood, Cutlers delivered a nice dinning experience. Crab cake appetizer and fried oysters were good. Really enjoyed some of the different craft beers they had to offer. We will be back.
We had excellent service at Cutler's. The bartenders were friendly, as was our server, who was very happy to accommodate my dietary restrictions with excellent suggestions. There was live entertainment, as it was a Friday night, which was a nice touch. We started with the cheese and charcuterie plate, which was delightful. My husband enjoyed the scallops special, as well. I had a modified version of the eggplant parmesan, and I wanted to love it but the eggplant fillets were a little dry & over cooked, and the breading had no flavor. I am chalking it up to a one-off or simply a poor entree choice on my behalf, and I certainly plan to go back for another try because it really was a very nice experience overall.
This could have been a real nice meal but the kitchen and staff just were not up to the challenge. The drinks and salads were the best part. The salmon was dry, the steak was cold, the pasta was gluey, and I don't think the chicken matched the description on the menu. Without a really nice restaurant in Athens to celebrate a special occasion, this has to do. Maybe next time it will be better.
We are regulars at Cutler's when in town for football games and other occasions - probably 6-8 times a year. The menu is diverse, with ample portions and fairly priced. They were flexible with us on the time - having reservations just 15 minutes before closing. The manager did tell one of our party earlier that they would not serve that late, which was contradicted by someone else when I called to confirm. The bar being right next door is handy. Beer selection is average at best. Service was not quite as attentive as it usually is, but was friendly. Their lobster bisque is good and their pumpkin bread ham/swiss sandwich is unique and very tasty and filling. Good choice of salads. It has never been noisy when we are there, although it has never been busy, either. All in all, one of the better places in town to eat; quiet, relaxing, good menu, fairly priced, good portions.
We stayed overnight at the OU Inn on Saturday while visiting our son who is a grad student at the university and had dinner at Cutlers. Very nice atmosphere and great food. We were very happy with our steaks and the sweet potato side dish in particular was excellent. There was live music (a single man playing and singing) but it was background only, you could still have a nice conversation. This was the first time we have stayed at the Inn and would definitely stay and eat there again.
The waiter forgot evertime we asked for something, another menu (didn't have enough), drinks, another fork and more. He also wasn't present during our meal. We had to search him out. That was frustrating.
The food was just ok. My mother ordered a filet mignon and it was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. Everything else was so-so. We had a hard time finding something that sounded good to order.
I went to this restaurant with my wife for our anniversary. The food was excellent. The service was very good as well. Menu was pricy but worth it as our food was very well prepared. I would not go their daily but from what I experienced I would go again for a special occasion.
Service and ambiance excellent!! 96 % of food GREAT!! I had salmon dinner, chopped salad, reisling, and dessert - all excellent!! My husband loved everything but his Ribeye, it was lightly smoked which gave it a very strange flavor. Only other complaint was coffee not super hot, but we will be back to try other dishes!! Overall extremely good!!
We went to Cutler's because some of the reviews said "romantic atmosphere". Nice place, but I wouldn't call it "romantic". We each ordered steaks...the food was GREAT. Our server was also great. But it's a restaurant attached to a hotel and they didn't do a great job of hiding that. As in, you kind of feel like you are in a hotel conference room that is set up as a dining room. Atmosphere was the only thing we were disappointed for, as we were there for our anniversary. If we had gone for a casual meal, it would have been perfectly suitable. No other complaints!
Food was middle of the road. Dessert was fantastic. Service was incredibly slow. Took a half hour to finally order. Waited 20 inutes or drink refill. Had to do nothing to drink. My steak was very tasty but my wife's was not. Took over 20 inutes to pay my bill even.
Went to Mother's Day Week-end at Ohio University....I was the grandmother with my daughter and grandson who is the student at OU. Grandson was totally blown away by the great food and decor of the restaurant....said it was the best meal he has eaten at college. Proud to impress my grandson and show him a special good time.
I took my wife to Cutler's for our 10th anniversary dinner, and I had a really great time. The place wasn't noisy, was romantically lit, and the waitstaff was super friendly. The French onion soup was a delight, and the New York strip steak I had was mouthwateringly good. I'm currently salivating thinking about it, two days later.
I recently had dinner fro six at Cutlers for a special celebration. The service and staff was excellent. The food was good and the wine list was good. Best place in Athens for a special occasion when you want a wonderful atmosphere. Was there on a Friday evening and had wonderful live entertainment softly playing throughout our dinner. Exceeded my expectations.
