we were there 140 minutes before our entrees came, even with appetizers this was unacceptable. My 8 oz steak was stone cold and tough on arrival, however given the delay and this was a special celebration I did not send it back as that would have further detracted from the evening.
Downtown Halifax has plenty of wonderful places to dine, Cut steakhouse is not one of them. The service was cold and uninviting, explanation of their bizarre menu layout was quick and condescending. My wife and I both ordered the Canadian AAA dry aged striploin, they were 1/3 fat and grissle, the remaining cut of meat was simply unimpressive. I ordered a side of fries and for $11.00 I expected at least something made in house, instead I got frozen fries I could have bought at the grocery store. I can’t find any reason to ever dine here again.

Second time dining at this location. We came back for a reason and will continue coming back for the same reason, best steak in Halifax (we have dined at all the major steakhouses). The staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. The ambiance is classy yet comfortable nonetheless.
I took my boyfriend here on an anniversary date and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was gorgeous and comfortable. Staff were attentive and friendly. The cocktails were great and sitting at the bar seeing the bartender craft them was a highlight. I would definitely recommend CUT to anyone looking for an upscale experience for a special occasion.

Absolutely amazing every time! I will keep going back for the service alone! The food is divine and we love the "whiskey smash" created by the mixologist Matt Dash. The atmosphere is perfect for our anniversary and we never leave unimpressed.
Was there Saturday evening with my wife and friends. Everything was 5* all the way. The only detractor for me was, I think I may have been sitting underneath a speaker (by a window), and found it hard to listen to our friends across the table. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant, and I WILL be back.

This was our second visit to the Cut and it has earned it's diamond status for good reason. Aside from the high quality and presentation of the food, the dining experience is excellent start to finish. The staff are extremely professional and friendly, knowledgeable, and provide top notch service. The atmosphere is classy, the acoustics are perfect, décor is nice, and you know you are dining somewhere special.
This was one of the most memorable dining experiences in Halifax I’ve ever had. Our server Keith kept the conversation light and fun but was also very knowledgeable. Plating is gorgeous and everything tasted amazing. Will be back!
This was our second time visiting. The first time we were very impressed with all aspects of the experience. The food was wonderful, the service was very professional but at the same time friendly and comfortable. Our second visit was another great experience. We will definitely return again.
Great atmosphere for sure. Steak was amazing. So much flavour. Baked potato arrived cold but opted out for another due to the fact our meal would have been done by that time. But they did award a free glass of wine. But have to say, too expensive for the value and quantity of the food.
Impeccable service. Loved that they all worked together. They clearly communicated well. Keith recommended my wine. It was super good. Food was excellent. Only complaint was the mushrooms were a bit too salty. Steak was fabulous of course but also the veg.
My husband doesn’t even like dessert and he ordered cheesecake and devoured it.

Outstanding service and food. Everyone went above and beyond in service.
The servers were attentive and knowledgeable. The steaks were great, caesar and apps were perfect but the sides were just OK. The lobster risotto entree and forest mushrooms side dish were both over salted and the roasted squash was served in the rind and tasted nice but looked unappealing. The creme brulee arrived unbaked. As in raw. It was totally liquid under the caramelized crust. If I had realized I would have sent it back, but when they said it was liquid I thought that they meant that it was just not totally firm, more creamy than jelled but they actually meant it was completely liquid. The petit fours plate was lovely , very impressive in both presentation and taste. A round table would have much improved the experience as it was difficult to socialize at the long ( but elegant) configuration.
My husband has been to Cut several times. He recommended it to me and we had a lovely romantic meal there. It was a Sunday night and was very quiet with Jazz music in the background. The ambiance was amazing, the loveliest place I have been in the evening. The service was lovely, with wine decanted on a table with a candle at your table. I would recommend this as a romantic restaurant with amazing food.

Excellent ceasar salad, with dressing made table-side, the best I’ve had and I ate every bit. Lots of flavor and spice, so delicious! Also excellent rib-eye steak, and lobster - mushroom risotto. Great service! Loved it and will be back next time we come to Halifax!
I had not heard much about this restaurant before I went. Overall the food was top notch. My steak (14oz Ribeye) melted like butter in the mouth. Perfectly cooked.
Be prepared and don't be shocked by the prices, without even getting to the wagyu beef, you can expect dinner to run upwards of $75 per person. Steaks are presented without sides so add a starch and "enhancement" to the meal. The staff is very helpful in guiding your choice.
All in all this is a special occasion kind of place, the price (for me anyway) would keep me from coming for any other reason.
Overall we had a good experience at The Cut. My Husbands sirloin was not as good as previous visits, but still good. My Lobster Rissoto was very rich but tasty. The dessert was definitely the least satisfactory part, but we are chocoholics and we chose the 5 samplers when we should have ordered the Cake. That's on us. The ambiance was ok, apart from hearing the staffs conversations at the bar, which we were sat in front of. I was hoping for a more private seat as requested in the reservation.
Asked for Well done and got it rare then sent it back and came back underdone again. But overall the decor and service is good. It’s not worth the price but still good.

Good food, good service. Tip was set at 25%, this offended me and I manually gave 18%. 20% is great service and would have done this on my own but reduced it.
Our waitstaff of Keith and Mark were amazing, helpful and attentive. The food was perfect. All in all, there’s no doubt that the next time that we are in Halifax, we will return to dine at The Cut again.
