Great service and delicious food
Great food! As before, the charcuterie board was amazing!
Delicious meal but horrible service. Server spilled snapper juice on us, laughed at us at times and didnt make us feel welcome. So odd with how nice of a restaurant it is. I wont be going back.
Our server seemed preoccupied most of the evening and assumed we were not staying for dessert. He didn't show concern when we shared that the entree was cold and a filet should not be cold.
We have always loved Customshop since the beginning. This was our first time dining since the renovation. Everything we ordered was just outstanding and the service was top notch. Our favorites were still on the menu, and the cocktails/wine selection were, as always, wonderful. So happy we can keep Customshop in our Top 5 favorites!
Love it. Seafood dishes were on point and so fresh. Never had snapper crudo that was so good. Love it here!
Always one of my favorites in Charlotte
Nice update, but loud. It needs to be addressed lime Good Food did a few years ago.
Duck was excellent, ravioli was good-earthy flavors.
Food was cold on arrival. Friends food was undercooked then when got back food it was over cooked. The bbq octopus was fair at best. Very salty. Disappointed. The kitchen needs to get it together
Great food, cocktails and service. Always a great place for dinner out with friends
Had an an amazing time!! Great food and service. The bread pudding for dessert is a must try!
Waitress was very attentive and personable. Food and wine delish.
Delicious food in great atmosphere! Great date night!
Excellent food and service as always.
Service, atmosphere and food was absolutely AMAZING!
Food and service were excellent, chairs are not comfortable and asked for one of the open booths and denied, however two remained open during our entire visit.
Great new look plus the valentine menu had one of the best mussel dishes we ever had which we get often as app. The fish was great fresh, large portion cook perfectly with great sauces & flavor combinations. The glass of wine was great & generous pour.
The food was fresh. creative and absolutely delicious!
I have been wanting try since seeing it a few years back after lunch outings with my longtime girlfriend who nurses at nearby hospital. We met up after her shift on 2/4 to celebrate my birthday. We both were excited to try a new spot . As we are both foodies And well experienced restaurant goers both found the food to be above average in quality and preparation;however found the service to be sluggish and the price to product not much of a value and ultimately left unsatisfied.
Was surprised that they don’t sell any soft drinks. Liked the new decor. Some parts of menu better than before remodel; others were not.
Long time favorite restaurant in CLT, but I was disappointed by our meal.
Clearly a neighborhood hot spot, it was really busy even for a late reservation. I was really excited about the restaurant’s eclectic menu and amazing ambiance, but the execution of food and cocktails fell short, especially for the hefty price point. I was hoping for Kindred-level dining, but ultimately left disappointed.
What a cozy, well thought out, romantic place.
Menu is just the right size with seasonal ceviches and crudos.
My favorite dish is the beef carpaccio. This place is a real gem.
The ambience was very nice with the dim lighting, the spacing of the tables and the small bar area. The service was good and so was the food. A friend had the filet while good, we all agreed it could have been better as it was slightly overdone. The shared plates that my wife and I had were very nice with our favorite being the mushroom one which was also the one recommended by our waiter. The dessert menu is limited and should be expanded
Goat cheese appetizer was the best
First time back since renovation
Waiting are furniture is awkward
Portion size was great
Overall a bit underwhelming and bland
The bar is very small
Great food and friendly service...but VERY loud and there were a few errors with the bill and some big gaps between courses. I’d go back though...food was that good.
Terribly loud! Had to shout to be heard in conversation at our table. Dishes were skimpy and expensive. Not interested in returning to the CustomShop.
Long time diner pre renovation, I decided to head back for New Years Eve. The first thing you notice is how incredibly loud the dining room has become. Service was slow, forgetful and the food was violently salted and pork fatty. not in keeping with the level this place is capable of executing.
Customshop has been our favorite restaurant in Charlotte for over a decade. It's very quaint but lively, the people are great and the food is terrific. They have recently remodeled and it seems that in addition to modernizing the decor they have sought to promote a louder vibe with thumping music. We were not prepared for this as it changed what we like to experience at the restaurant which was more of a cozy, quaint and quieter place. But if you like thumping music then you will enjoy this place. The only other disappointment since the remodel is they are no longer making the tuna meatballs which were quite possibly one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted.
Usually the food is very good here. However, the experience was different this time.
Good: 1) Service was really good. 2) Shared plates were delicious.
Bad: 1) The noise was extremely loud due to it was NYE. However, it was just 7 pm. It was louder than a bar. 2) Don’t order the steak entree!
It is odd this restaurant does not serve coffee but had desserts
TERRIBLE. Exceptionally bad. It took 15 minutes just got get our drink order taken. Food arrived cold. Squid ink pasta was undercooked and difficult to eat. They were out of the beef dish I ordered, the waiter let us know they would substitute a different cut of meat and never mentioned the $15 upcharge. After finishing the terrible meal, we sat with dirty plates in front of us for 15 minutes. The restaurant was not overly busy but the was inattentive and slightly rude. The last tables around us also seemed to be having the same experience we did. The only pleasant part of the meal was the foccicia bread and decent wine.
For the prices this place is NOT worth it.
We’ve always loved Customshop and were excited to have our anniversary dinner there in the newly renovated space. The decor is sleek and sexy, energy level is high and shared plates were as creative and delicious as we’ve come to expect from Trey Wilson. Particularly noteworthy was the ravioli with escargot and the crispy duck plate. We also enjoyed the special house pork belly terrine. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly without being intrusive. This neighborhood gem will continue to be at the top of our list.
Birthday but restaurant did not anything special for It
Customshop has been our favorite restaurant for years. This was our first time back since the renovation. I’ll start by saying the food was out of this world and I enjoyed it so much! But the service was poor. Everyone was really friendly but it took a rather long time to be acknowleged by anyone at our table. We had to ask someone if we could order a drink with them and then had to ask someone else if there were any specials... and then again had to ask someone if we could order with them. Again, everyone was really friendly, I just still don’t know which one was our server. Also the noise level was just to high for me to come back during regular dinner hours. I think I’ll come back when hopefully it’s much slower at night. Still our favorite restaurant but hoping our feedback helps improve things.
We took out of town clients to Customshop for dinner and were extremely disappointed. We were the first patrons in the restaurant at 5:30 and after being seated and waiting for 10 minutes, I had to go to the bar and ask if someone would take our drink orders. They were out of the wine and bourbon my clients requested. I had the trout, which was great, but my client got the fried flounder and she could hardly eat it because of the many bones. Dinner portions were small for the expensive price (and didn't come with veggies or a starch). They didn't have decaf coffee or hot tea and seemed annoyed when we asked. The service continued to be slow the entire evening and the server and manager on duty were not warm or welcoming. I won't be returning, which is a shame since I had heard so many wonderful things about the food.
Our favorite restaurant in town!
Food was pretty good (the goat cheese mousse was great, in fact) but I was frankly disappointed in the service. It took ages to get every course and 20 minutes to get the check paid from the time when we first asked for it. Maybe they were understaffed?
Also, when my scallops came out, they were missing a significant component of the dish (the potatoes). I hadn't made alterations or anything and I was pretty surprised they let the dish out of the kitchen missing something like that. The person that brought the food also looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked about it. A second person had to confirm the dish was incomplete and got a side of unseasoned fingerling potatoes that I had to add to the dish myself.
Bottom line - given the price of the meal, I would expect better and more prompt service. I wasn't wowed and can't imagine we'll go back - too many other, better places.
The food here is amazing, you cant go wrong with pretty much anything! They just remodeled and the place is absolutely lovely!
