Cusp has incredible views and bottomless mimosas with brunch entree 😊. We arrived at 11 and it was very quiet but by the time we left close to 1, it was full and loud. Overall highly recommend as food and view made up for noise.
We had out of town guests and we could not have asked for a more perfect evening. Great view, great sunset, personable staff and really delicious food. Our favorites of the evening were the beet salad, scallops and sea bass. Steve, thanks for the great service.
Excellent food and wait staff
Our waiter was a sweetheart! Dinner was great with a lovely view on the way to the airport.
Our sea bass was outstanding! The cesear salad was tasteless. The dessert of coffee ice cream was crystals of ice. Not appetizing at all! Our server, Dawn, was great! No complaints about our service! She was charming and attentive.
The drinks were really excellent. We really liked the crab tostada as a starter. The seafood risotto and halibut were very good entrees. Overall, the service was superb. Great food experience to watch a sunset.
Service was terrible - water wasn't refilled, couldn't get drinks to us for the last half of the meal so ended up skipping it (after forgetting my son's beverage order already). Couldn't get them to give us our bill.
As always, the ambiance and service were exquisite, but not every food item was up to par. The side that came with the steak, a mixture of brussels, potatoes, potato chips and turnips had no flavor whatsoever. We asked for salt, and even that didn’t enhance the flavor. The apple fritters were also disappointing since the fritter was dark, but the apple not fully cooked.
Went with my wife and the baby. Seated right away for Sunday brunch. Food was great! Awesome views!
The appetizers (ceviche, pork belly, fried artichokes) were all perfect. Our main courses (chicken with a tomato-caper sauce, halibut with gnocchi, and tuna with pasta) were first rate. Chef Ingrid creates wonderful combinations of flavors. We were too full to try the desserts. The views of the ocean at sunset are spectacular!
Beautiful view, great ambiance, food was good, very small portions.
CUSP is a hidden gem high atop The LaJolla Shores Hotel. Chef Ingrid Funes is talented and creative. Trained at The Beverly Hills Hotel and "blessed" by Thomas Keller, she sources local purveyors for the freshest seasonal ingredients and turns these ingredients into delicious meals. The wine list is good and has a range of prices. The wait staff is efficient and professional as well as friendly but not intrusive. Top all of this off with the "million dollar" views of LaJolla and the water and you have the makings for a perfect dining experience.
By far one of our favorite places to eat in LaJolla !
I've been here twice and service is fast and servers are excellent and very accommodating. The food is good but maybe not the best I've had. Still, the beautiful ambiance makes it worthwhile. I would say their wine and beer selections are a bit meager and probably why I wouldn't go more often. Very romantic and overall an excellent restaurant.
I was disappointed in Cusp for the first time in 30 years when it was called Summerhouse Inn. The food for brunch was barely tolerable. Service was poor. We had to ask for our orders, coffee, and water many times. Brought friends from Texas and was embrassed with everthing except the view. I have had large parties and service with great food and service in the past. This is the first time 30 years or longer, I have been outrage in food and service. Sunday Brunch should be special and relaxing. Only the view will keep me coming. Price was more than reasonable. Change the menu to a Sunday Brunch. Could up the price for better Sunday Brunch. I am sure the cook can do better. Food was like a coffee shop. I know the waiters could do better. Hostess was very nice.
It was a very elegant place.. Absolutely Wonderful great food.
We decided to go here for Valentine's Day, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The ambience is great, the view is amazing, and the food and service is superb.
My SO and I went here for Valentine's Day and loved it! Our reservation was for a little before sunset, so we lingered over drinks at our table. The service was absolutely wonderful, and we were taken care of by the wonderfully sweet Josie (even through the Valentine's rush, she was cool and collected). Overall, we enjoyed Cusp, and will definitely be back!
Phenomenal food and service. Good for couples or small groups with no kids. Amazing view of La Jolla especially during sunset. Highly recommend this hidden gem!
Always a delightful experience. Food is fresh, great flavors. I had the scallops , perfectly cooked. The view can't be beat, especially at sunset.
Great service , food , wine and view. What more to ask for.
Great service and great views! The porridge was amazing!!
All in all was o.k. but disappointing compared to the expectations we had after reading the great reviews. Table was dirty with candle wax. lunch menu not leaving many options and "flatbread with cheese" is a fancy way of just saying a pizza. Waiter said he would check in the kitchen about a dish we asked about but never came back. Waiters carrying jugs and misc. stuff from the storage to the kitchen via the seating area throughout all of lunch which was a bit disturbing. Had problem finding a reservation for lunch through Opentable but once we got there we were the only ones in the restaurant the whole meal. The big plus are the views to La Jolla.
Beautiful setting. Great Food and Great Service
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and it was a very easy place to converse.
We will be returning for Happy Hour to watch the sunrise later in the season when the sun sets more in the center of their view.
Fantastic experience! The decor and ambiance was gorgeous. The service from valet to bartender to waiter was phenomenal. The view is amazing. And best of all, the food was incredible. We had the beet and rocket salad, the crab tostada, the sea bass and salmon entrees....omg!
Great food and drink selections. Nice ambiance. Waitress was a little slow.
The service, as usual, was impeccable. Wait stuff is very professional and personal. The food is outstanding and so is the view of La Jolla shores.
Went to see the sunset as it's on the 11th floor of the hotel. You get a great view of La Jolla Shore and Bird Rock with the sun setting as you dine. The bartender (Mark) is usually the one there when we go and he's never disappointed. I'm picky about old fashions but he always delivers. Happy hour is also solid for what you get in views. Depending on what you buy your meal can be very expensive or not too bad. My wife and I like to go there several times a year for a nice and quiet sit down dinner.
We came with another couple and enjoyed a cozy booth overlooking the city lights. The food was outstanding! Fresh local seafood and presentation was very attractive. We enjoyed the scallops, foamy lobster seafood risotto, fresh catch of the day and roasted brussel sprouts with an egg. Everything was delicious and our waiter Steve was very professional and knowledgeable. This is a hidden gem. We will be back!
Location and view were superb. Server very friendly and informative - food choices , wines, desert - attentive but not overly so.
The presentation, flavouring and sides were all excellent !
View of La Jolla , ocean and hillside homes worth it even without the great food and drink
Food was delicious, service top notch. Ask for Stephen. Although you miss the ocean view at night, the twinkling lights of La Jolla are beautiful.
Went for Christmas dinner the restaurant was cold and not heated disappointed by the menu and wine selection for four people we walk out with a 500.00 dollar meal that was far from superior
The staff were lovely. We went with kids and it was fine. The food was nice but I wish they had a better selection for dessert. The ambiance was nice.
Holiday with family
What a disappointment! I chose the restaurant based on reviews from OpenTable and Trip Adviser; both of which were predominantly four stars. We went for lunch on a Sunday. The menu was extremely limited, with only a few salads and a handful of sandwiches. Nothing innovative, nothing creative; I ended up with a Cobb salad, and my husband had a turkey wrap in a tortilla with hummus and avocado. The sandwich was cold and the turkey was dry. The chicken in the Cobb salad was also tasteless. The view is beautiful, and perhaps this is a good place for a drink… but don’t eat here! There are so many amazing restaurants in La Jolla, don’t waste your time here.
Serene setting. We arrived at sunset. Staff was friendly but polite. Perfect timing on service. Food was priced perfectly. We will be back next time we're in San Diego.
I took my girlfriend here to celebrate our first year of dating. They took several steps to make sure our experience was enjoyable and special. I am very impressed with their service mindset to make sure every customer felt cared for. Great view and great food too!
Food was good, but the service was top notch. Steve was engaging, attentive and made out anniversary dinner super enjoyable.
A good restaurant with a fantastic view and great service.
This was a special evening for my husband's birthday dinner. We hadn't been to the restaurant in several years and when I asked him where he wanted to go, he said let's try "Cusp" again. Dennis was our server and we remembered him from many years ago when we first dined here. We were pleasantly surprised to see Dennis is still there. What a great guy! Service was impeccable and food was delicious! Better than we remember from last time dining here. We learned there is a new Head Chef (Ingrid Funes) and she stopped by our table to ask how things were. My husband had the scallops and I the Sea Bass. Everything was prepared and seasoned perfectly and as a foodie these comments do not come easily. We were pleasantly reminded that we love this restaurant and will be back very soon!
Great dinner. The chicken curry special was exceptional. Wine was amazing value - Cakebread Chardonnay for $57/bottle - I think it was incorrectly priced!!
Great place to go before going to the La Jolla Playhouse.
