I can recommend anything on the menu. My favorites are the pork belly and ceviche. I also love the flatbreads and the clam chowder. The salmon entree is superb and one of our party was blown away by the cauliflower entree, a vegetarian plate. The desserts are all worth trying. My favorite is the deconstructed pavlova. We have not had a bad dish at the Cusp. Chef Ingrid had put together a wonderful menu and delivers the goods. The waitstaff are attentive - Dennis and Steve merit a special thank you.
They were very understaffed on new year's eve. We had to wait over 30 minutes for our table to be ready although people who arrived after us were seated first. During our unexpected wait we ordered drinks at the bar which we thought were forgotten because it took 20 minutes to get them. The food was good and we would come here again despite this experience. Great views!!
We were there for a New Year’s eve dinner, very crowded very loud and not enough serving staff to support the needs for the evening. Unfortunately we ended up sitting in the bar so we can get served faster, not sure if that worked so well.
We went for a three course Christmas Dinner which was quite expensive ($65 person) so our expectations were pretty high. We were seated promptly but then no-one came back for quite a while...Eventually that was resolved and we got our food - filets were good but not excellent and the Sea Bass was fair at best (I've never had before - so maybe it's supposed to be mild and mushy?).
I’ve never had a bad dish at cusp. Hands down my favorite restaurant in San Diego
Had Christmas Dinner. Restaurant was busy but well organized with a set menu only. Prices were a little high for what was provided.
Place was very noisy even though not busy when we were there. May have a nice view before and during sunset but after dark we just looked at our reflection in the glass. Food was excellent and worth the trip!!!
We had to wait in bar for a dining table. They did give us the happy hour drink and food menu until we ordered our drinks. The cocktail were expensive .
Beer $9.00 and resolution cocktail was $14.00 .
My salad had hard uncooked beets. No taste whatsoever. The rest of salad was okay. Disappointed.
The stuffed truffle chicken was good. Service was slow in getting our meal. They seemed to be well staffed.
As usual, Chef Ingrid prepared the most wonderful dishes. I can recommend the ceviche, the candied pork belly, the flat breads, the beet salad with goat cheese, the house special roasted half chicken with mushrooms and truffles, the fish of the day with faro risotto, the apple fritter, the ice creams, and the chocolate crunch bar, and the deconstructed pavlova. Every dish was superb and beautifully presented. This restaurant, which is on the 11th floor of the Hotel La Jolla, is worth the trip and so far is not crowded, which is a mystery to me considering how fabulous the food is. The view out over the ocean is superb and especially memorable at sunset.
This was one of the most savory dining experiences so far! The service was splendid and extremely helpful, they were timely and professional with their appearance and were extremely kind and attentive. The food was incredibly delicious; everything looked fresh and was aesthetically appealing. The music fit the mood perfectly and the view definitely topped the whole experience. I loved every single bit of my dining here and will definitely return.
This was our third time dining here since Chef Ingrid Funes took over. Dinner was fabulous and Chef Funes is a talented chef. My husband and I shared the Roasted Apples and Baby Beet Salad. The roasted apples were a delicious surprise. We both had the Sea Bass; one was a special for the evening and the other the Catch of the Day with the yuzu buerre blanc sauce which I've had before. Both were excellent! Dessert was the Crispy Apple Fritters. Yum! We were served by Dennis (our favorite waiter) and as usual, service was perfect.
Beautiful spot, but the drinks are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for 5 tablespoons of a cocktail.
What a beautiful place for a relaxin meal. Lunch is special because of the wonderful view over La Jolla.
Worse food we have had in La Jolla. Frozen factory processed food? Service was good. View was great. Room could be upgraded...
As Always chef Ingrid is a star we love the new menu ⭐️!!
We went to Cusp while we we’re staying at Hotel La Jolla. We had the steak, which was great, and cooked perfectly. I do, however, wish that the menu had a few more items to choose from.
Great view, good food and service. Highly recommended and sure to be back
Very good meal eclipsed only by the sunset view. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Delightful way to celebrate an anniversary.
Service was decent. Food portions were small for the price. All left hungry. Great view but would look at other options before returning.
CUSP exceeded our expectations in every way including the complimentary Valet parking when you dine there. On the top of the Summer House Inn, CUSP has a million dollar panoramic view of the entire La Jolla Shores area and the blue Pacific Ocean! Being a hotel restaurant, we didn't know what to expect and found the Sunday Brunch menu (not a buffet) was both very nicely priced (far better than the expensive restaurants on La Jolla's Prospect St and La Jolla Cove area!!!) and were absolutely delicious!!! We dine out A LOT and were very pleased and surprised with the great creativity in their dishes and the excellent service. Manny did a wonderful job for us! We had an outstanding Sunday Brunch for 2 with non-alcohol drinks for less than $50 including tax. They also have non-stop mimosas for $15 if you desire. We will definitely be back for brunch and lunch and happy hour!!! If you book for dinner, be sure to first check to see what time sunset is on that day.
15th wedding anniversary!
awe wish we loved closer to this restaurant. It was wonderful in every single way. We had the best views, service and outstanding food.
We found it very expensive for mediocre food and service.
Great food and beautiful views. I highly recommend this restaurant.
They went above and beyond with their service, food, drinks, and their attention to special details. Would go again and have recommended this place to family and friends!
The banana cheese cake with maple ice cream was incredible. Great waiter. Steve was really knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent service. Good food and beautiful view. Gorgeous view from the ladies room made me smile.
Excellent service with great suggestions that was backed up with great tasting food for all three entrees.
This romantic restaurant has an amazing Ocean View and it felt very private. The service is great and the food is incredible.
Overall good birthday brunch experience and great value for the price as well as the view. Slow service especially when you want another mimosa
amazing experience. great food, great service. had dinner at 7:30 and i was surprised it wasnt a packed house. amazing views and date absolutely loved it. Fellas, if youre trying to impress a girl, take her to Cusp
Not only was the food, atmosphere and view superb, our waiter was the best!! Very attentive and knowledgeable.
From valet to reception to service and ambiance, everything was exceptional. Dennis, our server, deserves special attention for his professionalism, humor and attention to detail.
Awesome view table next to window! Juan gave us great service too. Wife loved her mock margarita. Great salad. Enjoyed it all.
Place was great! Took a while to get our drinks but I think they were shorted staffed. All in all a good experience.
Great costumer service and delicious food!! Will definitely be back!
We were very disappointed with the service and the noise at the restaurant. The hostess sat our party of 6 right next to a large party in the private dining area and the noise level was so unbearable that we couldn’t have any conversation with each other. The waitress was also very busy and tending to that large party so we felt like we were constantly waiting for service. On a positive note, the food was excellent.
Excellent kitchen. Would recommend the crispy octopus, hamachi crudity, scallops and bananas foster.
Amazing views, amazing food, service was on point... The only problem I had is that we spent about 3 hours dining - no rush, ordered a lot of items but, they were playing disco music the entire time and it seemed a little loud because it was annoying. They couldn't do anything about it because I guess it was satellite radio?
We were checking Cusp out for a birthday celebration in a couple of weeks. The hotel is lovely and the parking situation perfect as this is La Jolla. But the dining room and bar are much smaller than pictured on the internet and so for a Sunday brunch it was too noisy to talk. Therefore, we cancelled our reservations for our birthday celebration and will eat at Mister A's. Remember we are older and the noise level is important to us. Very few places you can go and have the noise level right. We would go there for a drink at the bar though because the view is spectacular--probably the best in La Jolla. Everyone treated us in a friendly manner and accepted our 8 lb. Therapy Dog with smiles and pats. One disturbing thing was the white drapes were filthy at the top--maybe just at our table but needed to be tended to. Vickie Johnson
