We have been going to Currents for many specially before the Symphony. The food, ambiance and maitre de have been going down hill. Our reception by the maitre de was discouraging, he was on the edge of rude, our table was near his station and even when done with the meal he would leave dirty dishes on the table.
We had to ask for bread which in the past was never a problem. The food was adequate but nothing special.
The service staff seemed very thin, not enough waitresses. They divide the service between different people so the servers don't know what you ordered.
The prices are not cheap yet not unreasonable but it should be better service and care in preparing.

We were a party of 4 and we had dinner here before a 7:30 p.m. symphony concert. We all chose from the special symphony menu which includes an appetizer or salad, entree and dessert. We all enjoyed our meals (prime rib, chicken and baked cod); the service was very efficient.

We were there for dinner prior to the Three Irish Tenors concert at Symphony Hall - it is very convenient just a short walk from the hotel to symphony hall . They validated our parking. It was nice to see them patrolling the parking garage. Clearly, they take guest safety very seriously which is important to me as a female. All the staff were very friendly, courteous and professional. The food at Currents was great and we got out in plenty of time to make the show on time. We will definitely be back.

Only two other tables when we arrived. More than five minutes before our order was taken. Then 35 minutes for the food to show up. We were told a bartender called in sick, but that should have had no impact on the kichen!

We dined here before attending a concert at the Springfield Symphony; Currents has a special 3 course meal available for symphony-goers and it was very good; includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for $26.99. The salmon was delicious as was the prime rib. While there have been issues in the past with service, there was very attentive service and the meal was served in a very timely manner so that we were not rushed to get to the concert on time which had been a problem before; obviously management has addressed that issue so we look forward to going back.

Currents is our go-to place before concerts and performances at Springfield Symphony Hall. The food is always great. Portions are just big enough so that you don't have to lug any leftovers to the concert. Best of all they have a terrific three-course Symphony menu that has something for everyone. The servers are just lovely and we always feel well taken care of. This is a Marriott hotel restaurant with the feel of a neighborhood place. There is also a small bar area with an interesting bar menu for a quick bit before the show too. (I recommend the tuna tacos if you sit there.)

We went on symphony night so the restaurant was busy. We had the symphony specials, my wife had the salmon and I had the prime rib. She said the salmon was tasteless. It was moist but lacking. My prime rib was more well done than I like and a bit too much grizzle and fat.

The chocolate cake dessert was excellent as were the rolls.

My wife & I have been going to Currents (or its predecessor) for several years. Typically for birthdays or anniversaries. We have always been impressed by the quality of the food, and the service received.

Excellent food, great service and a nice setting make for a nice evening.

Using the Entertainment Book discount has always been a plus - but since we travel ~ 50 miles to go to Currents, that's a wash.

The ambiance and service is very good. Both my wife and I had the symphony special dinners. My prime rib was excellent, tasty, cooked as ordered and appropriately spiced. My wife had the vegetarian lasagna which she said was very good. My dessert was the chocolate cake which was too rich. It didn't need the chocolate sprinkles but my wife's cheese cake was good. Dinner costs were reasonable for what you get.

My husband and I went to this restaurant on Valentine's evening. We had reservations but clearly didn't need them. The place had about 5 parties dining and not a single person at the bar. Our waitress was pleasent. My husband and I had different menus, turns out his was a lunch menu. The couple next to us also had that problem. no big deal, I had the salmon, my husband had the filet. Both were cooked to our liking. My sides were very salty and the portions were quite small even for me. I felt that the meal was no better than a chain steakhouse but the prices were almost double that. The service was a bit slow. Overall it just didn't leave any great impressions on me. I don't mind spending good money, but it should be worth it. I don't feel I'll be returning.

Went with another couple on a Saturday night. Overall, it was a good experience. It is a pleasant and comfortable environment. They have a nice wine selection, our waitress was very friendly, the service was efficient and most importantly, the food was very very good. The steak I had was incredibly tender and flavorful. Two people had the special which was red snapper, both of whom said it was delicious, and 1 person had the scallops and shrimp, which was also very good.

On the downside, the waitress, while very sweet, could not answer some of our questions. None were extremely important, so we just let them go. Also, it was only 7:00 on a Saturday night, and they were already out of the prime rib and rib eye steak, (which was my first choice). The wine, at first glance, seemed pretty reasonable, ($7-10 a glass), until we realized that was for 3 oz only. Not sure who orders a 3 oz glass of wine, but okay! They also offered 6 oz and 9 oz glasses, but then of course the price was higher, so our glasses of wine were $15-18 a glass.

Finally, the plates of food, although very good, were quite small for the price. It was enough food for me, but the price seemed too much for the amount. As for the person who ordered the scallops and shrimp, it was 3 scallops and 1 shrimp, definitely not enough for him.

I don't think we would return for dinner, based on the value aspect, but I would not discourage someone from trying it out. If you don't drink wine, or you are in a position to pay that much for your wine, the price factor may not be as big of an issue. This is just our perspective.

We went to Currents prior to the symphony. There was a price fixed menu that was offered for $25.00 that sounded good. It came with a salad that was wilted, uninteresting and sparse. The main courses were okay. Nothing special but not terrific. The restaurant did cater to one person's dietary needs. I think if the meal started with a nice salad,we all would have had a different attitude. Our server was very nice. We probably will choose another restaurant in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyed another wonderful meal in Currents this evening. Kelly served me a thick, rich, and creamy New England Clam Chowder chock full of clams. Then moved on to a Surf and Turf entree featuring a 6 ounce New York Strip Steak cooked medium that was perfectly cooked with three stuffed with crabmeat shrimp. Entree was accompanied with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.

Kelly made me personally a most wonderful Brownie Sundae with vanilla ice cream (two scoops), whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. Well presented and tasted great.

As on the other meals here, Emily, the Restaurant Supervisor, made sure that every course was to my liking and showed a sincere and genuine interest in my repeat business.

This return visit was highlighted by a wonderful onion soup with a baked cheese topping, a country fried steak with roazted potatoes/mushrooms,and an egg sunny side up. Errol, the chef, prepared this wonderful entree. Dessert this time was a creme brulee with vanilla bean. As in the first meal, Emily Barrett checked on every course to make sure that everything was wonderful. Kathleen served the meal expertly and Walter filled the water glasses promptly. A most outstanding dining experience.

Many thanks once again to Emily Barrett for all of her time, energy, and dedication to help make my first two dinners at Currents not only most memorable, but an experience that I will treasure forever! Look forward to returning on Thursday nig

Currents at the Springfield, MA Marriott was a thoroughly outstanding dining experience. Before the meal began, a nice bowl of spicy potato chips and some assorted rye breads were served. The New England Clam Chowder was both filled with clams and thick and creamy. It was the finest that I have ever had. Emily Barrett, an outstanding Assistant Manager of F & B Operations, served me a very nice dish of short ribs, with a demi glaze and fingerling potatoes/carrots. Walter kept the water glasses filled. Dessert was equally impressive; a most rich chocolate bread pudding with carmelized bananas.

Emily Barrett was truly the most outstanding performer on this meal. Emily was both very professional, yet very friendly and welcoming.

I was at the Marriott for an event & booked a reservation @9:30PM thru opentable.com from my seat in the ballroom. The venue wasn't busy so we requested one of their crescent booths. We ended up ordering the appetizer sampler & a couple of salads, not only because of the late dining time, but because of the high prices. We ordered 2 glasses of wine directly from our waitress, never saw a wine list, & were surprised to read on our bill that the wines were TEN & SEVEN dollars respectively for half-filled glasses. Overall, the food was decent, but overcooked (calamari, Kobe sliders), the salads swam in dressing, & while our waitress was mostly absent, Walter kept our water glasses full & table clear with a smile, thus earning more stars.

Food was very good. Our waitress was good, but table service was a little odd. We were brought bread as soon as we were seated, but had no bread plates. After our salads, all our silverware was cleared even though we had entrees coming, and our waitress had to get us siverware. Then, halfway through our meal, we were given bread plates, even though the bread was long gone! It added a little comedy to what was an enjoyable dinner.
