Book your next event with us
We got reservations for Thanksgiving. It was terribly unorganized and short staffed. We waited for over 30 mins to sit and if I didn’t flag down the waiter and interject myself we wouldn’t of even been noticed. Waiter was not amused that we didn’t order wine. Food was expensive and mediocre. I often have good experiences there but I would recommend they have appropriate staffing for when they book a full house.
We have eaten at Curbside several times and at least three holiday diners. Ambience, service and dinner was excellent in the past. This time we were a bit taken back because, around 6:00pm I counted eight people waiting for tables on the inside and three more on the outside. One family of 5 wheeled in a very large baby stroller/sleeper (the baby was sleeping in it). With so many people standing waiting for a table and with the baby carriage in such a small restaurant, it was impossible to enjoy our dinner. All eyes were on the lucky diners that had a table and were served. Please next time have your staff (one waiter, doing it all) more organized (he didn't ask us for our names until we were leaving). I noticed one couple sat at a window table for four. The waiter was clearly overwhelmed and doing his best and certainly on such holidays, there should be two full time wait staff. Every once in awhile someone from the kitchen would come out and help out.
NOT a ‘French Bistro’, but a neighborhood cafe. Grossly understaffed: one person taking orders, seating customers, delivering food and bussing. Tried to be efficient, but lacked any sense of hospitality.
Had brunch. Food was pretty average and service was cursory. Not sure why all the 5-star reviews. Possibly for dinner service?? There are many places with comparable food, so no compelling need to return.
Solid breakfast- not necessarily super original but very good. Small place- sat outside- street noise but nothing too crazy. Would definitely go back.
We come back to Curbside Cafe over and over...enjoy the food, the ambiance
Never had a bad meal
Pot roast this time for me and shrimp dish for my partner...
Made a reservation-- got right in...
forgot to look at the wine specials---will next time...nothing was said--they
are on a blackboard high up...
Will return again...
The service was excellent and the food was just delicious. We plan on returning to this wonderful place. It was our first time going there, and we had the best experience.
Estvan works that entire room by himself without a moment of neglect for anyone! He is superb. Always a good dinner.
Oliver is the perfect host!
Juicy shrimps and scallops with pasta in a garlic sauce and Chardonnay were delicious. This is one of those splendid dishes that I like Curbside for.
I was seated as soon as I arrived. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It arrived swiftly and was pleasantly plated. The flavor was good. Produce and bread were very fresh. The chicken had a slightly rubbery texture. I’m thinking it may have been a previously frozen chicken breast.
Creme soup with mushrooms was very good and salmon was delicious. This is the place where I usually enjoy outstanding French onion soup, genuine crab omelette, tender pork chop, and a variety of refreshing salads.
Consistently excellent. Olivier, the owner , is charming and very pleasant to talk to during dinner. A great neighborhood spot.
The restaurant is extremely cozy and very romantic. Perfect for a date night! We had a wonderful time and the food and service was simply lovely.
Only 1 waiter & very busy. Wines tried not as good as would have expected. Fries very good after sent back for further cooking. Crab cakes mediocre-mostly filler. Other entree with seafood pasta good flavor though scallops & shrimp were pretty tough. Good bread pudding. Butter for adequate bread in foil packets-not very French.
I dine at Curbside at least once a month. Whether I go for brunch, lunch or dinner, the food is always good.
Noise level depends more on how crowded a restaurant is than the acoustics of the room. Thus, just about any restaurant at 5:30 PM will be quiet enough for hearing impaired people while the same restaurant at 8:00 PM will be very difficult.
Great place. We will dine there again and it will on our go to list.
Always delicious and fun meals at Curbside!
It was a simple meal and nothing was remotely good about it. The chicken was bone dry on top of my salad. The bacon was virtually nonexistent on the Cobb salad. The French wouldnt call this a bit French despite the owner bring from there. Terribly disappointed.
Nice quaint breakfast café with top notch French toast.
This is probably our favorite spot for everyday dining in San Francisco. A classic French bistro menu with everything perfectly executed. The onion soup, steak frites and chicken picatta are specially recommended. But EVERYTHING is good. Nice French wines. Just delightful.
It was my friend's recommendation and my first time. Our out of town guest and we had the most lovely time. The food was great and the waiter most attentive, and overall it felt very much like we were in a bistro in Europe, unpretentious and no rush. I will be back!
I got the shrimp and scallop pasta which was delicious! Very light and cooked perfectly. Next time I am in SF I definitely want to eat there again.
Just like the name, this is what you’d expect. Food is fine, nothing special, artistic, or disagreeable. Two guys seem to run the entire place so they are a little grumpy and overworked.
I like salmon and chicken meals and most of breakfast options they serve there. Yesterday, I tried crab cakes for the dinner and would agree with other reviewers: it is not amongst the best dishes they can cook. I had to wait for more than 30 minutes to get it overcooked; and, unlike similar dishes I tried in CA and NC, nothing reminded me of the taste of crab in it. The sevice was very good and Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa was delicious, though.
Amazing every time!!!
Always good food and quiet ambiance. Olivier is a wonderful host and always makes you feel comfortable.
Delicious tender seared salmon with risotto and vegetables. What else could I consider to be appropriate to end a Saturday' night? A glass of wine, perhaps, and a quiet atmosphere. I was granted all of the components at Curbside cafe.
We have been going to the Curbside Cafe for many years and always enjoy it. It's comfortable, cozy & cute with a nice menu and good food and a nice clientele. It is decorated as a small cafe might look in France. The food is not really French, but the menu has a nice variety of options. Service is very good. I very nice spot for a good dinner in a relaxed ambience.
That small cozy restaurant, with subtle French ambience perceived through the atmospheric music, the way the tables are laid and the waiters treat you made me feel a precious guest there. The menu was quite diverse in terms of meals to take: a choice of breakfast/brunch, lunch, and dinner options and wines. Moreover, the size of the plates allows you to enjoy the main course and even try a delicious dessert. I enjoyed their omelette with salmon, chocolate dessert one day and a delicious chicken dish with Chardonnay the other day. Curbside Cafe has become one of my favourite places in Pacific Heights.
Great restaurant with a lot of charm. Service was great, food, drinks and attentiveness of server were all up to par. Food was excellent. Dining room is intimate in size, so diners should be comfortable with that aspect.
We did not know that the only option was the special at $65/per. This place has no room for entry! People were standing right behind me while I was eating. They are too small a place to deal with a holiday crowd. Over-booked and walk-ins had no place to stand and wait. Wait staff was rushed and confused. After taking our order, we waited awhile for the soup. After we finished our soup and someone took away our plates, our waiter came back and asked if we were ready to order! He quickly realized he had already done so. Ambiance: none. bad lighting, no curtain or partition between kitchen entrance and dining room. Did not look very clean.
The service was prompt and friendly, but the lunch meals were very ordinary for the price.
Friendly waitstaff and great food!
To find a quiet neighborhood restaurant and be taken care of and served such a wonderful and satisfying meal is so rare these days. Adequate number of choices for your main very relaxed atmosphere . Enjoy!
Great neighborhood find. Brought there by a dear friend. Tiny spot, so make a reservation. Food choices were abundant. Food was healthy, fresh and good, with a french flair. One server manged the whole room with great success. Enjoyed this very much. Will go again.
Great meal, as always, for Restaurant Week!
We have had many wonderful meals at Curbside, including breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Every time we go, we are always so impressed with the delicious food, great service, and cozy atmosphere. It’s a lovely little restaurant that has thrived for many years, because it is consistently excellent.
Fabulous salads, soups, sandwiches & burgers - amazing specials and the BEST raspberry cheesecake ever!!
