The Cupping Room Café was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Café. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

Went for a breakfast on a Sunday morning. I was little early for my reservation and had to wait for my daughter. I was seated at the bar while I waited and was immediately offered a cup of coffee.. The staff was very friendly and conversed with me while I waited. As soon as my daughter arrived, we were shown to our table. The service was very good and my coffee cup was never empty. Our food came and it was delicious. Vegetable omelets with the freshest veggies inside. I highly recommend Cupping Room, we were not rushed at all and the staff was very attentive.

The Cupping Room is a nice relaxed restaurant/bar. We arrived, by chance, during happy hour, so we were really pleased to be told it was happy hour and given a menu of 1/2 price drinks. The service was great, the really nice straightforward food. We'd just flown in from London feeling tired and hungry, we felt full and perked up by our visit to The Cupping Room. We go there everytime we visit New York. Recommended.

I have not been to the Cupping Room in many years and was looking for a place to meet for brunch. When it came up on the internet under brunch places in Soho, I was excited to go back. It was even better than I remembered and everyone in our group was happy with their meals. We are from New Jersey and it was a great day in the city.

Food was tasty but not hot. Portions generous. The coffee was good and a good selection of options for breakfast. Too many options nearby to go back.

Lattes to start were the best we've had in a while, hot and rich espresso taste, a beautiful milky cappuccino. Brunch was superb. Over stuffed omelettes, pretty perfect eggs benedict, brie oozing from smoked turkey and apple chutney on french bread.

Great place, lotta fun staff was very nice, took a long time for the food to come out. We were in no rush though, the waitress recognize this on her own and brought us a complimentary pastry which was delicious, you would think that on a Sunday at 11:30 in the morning that would be enough staff for a brunch, overall I liked it and would come back

I had not been there for 20 years and other than a remodel it was exactly as we remembered. The only disappointment was the sour cream muffins which are now stuffed with jelly. Otherwise it was excellent

We are from out of town and happened upon Cupping Room. It was the perfect NYC nighttime experience in Soho. Great food! Amazing, friendly service, and the atmosphere was so warm and inviting.

I met my two girlfriends here, one was visiting from Florida. We had a reservation for 10am and were seated right away. That was when all service ended. We literally sat for 45 minutes without a server coming over to us, not even to give us coffee. I had to get up and go over and find someone to take our coffee orders and then our breakfast orders. Thankfully we were so happy to see one another since we don't get to but once a year, that we didn't become rude or nasty. However, the service was atrocious. The worst service the three of us have ever experienced in NYC.

Service was horrible. Took 1 hour just to get cappuccinos. And 1.5 hours for our food. Waiter never came back to offer more coffee.
Food was average and 2 out of our eight dishes were cold!
The restaurant itself was cold and drafty. Not warm and cozy at all. Had to eat with coats on.
Would not recommend this place. The city has far better options to choose from.

Food was just ok. Nothing wrong with the restaurant but I’ve been to better. Food presentation was lacking. Taste, ok, nothing special. Waited awhile for our drinks but the bar was not busy. Just not a good or bad experience but expected more from a place in SoHo, so slightly disappointed and will not return when there are better places to attend.

We've been to the Cupping Room several times, almost always for brunch. My husband is an omelette connoisseur - he orders them everywhere we go and this is consistently his favorite! He calls it the "best omelette anywhere, period". The Cupping Room is cozy, comfortable, and delicious every time, and the staff is always pleasant and accommodating. Definitely one of our favorite NY restaurants.

The food and service was good, my only complaint was that my associate found a fragment of what looked to be steel wool used to clean grills, pots and pans on her salad. Thank god she didnt swallow, but the waitress had that meal comped and offered to replace for a new salad. So I feel that was handled well.

We’ve been coming here for brunch for quite some time. It took over 20 min to get our bloody Mary’s. Our server seemed very annoyed that we didn’t want to order brunch til we got our drinks.
We both ordered Eggs Benedict. They were cold. Cold eggs, cold sauce The only hot thing on the plate was the French fries.
Very disappointed in one of our favorite brunch places in Soho

Brunch was good but nothing over the top. Got eggs Benedict and a Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary had way too much seasoning, eggs bending was good. Service was average, busy on Sunday morning.
