Michaelangelo was so nice and sweet to us! We randomly chose this restaurant for dinner because of the location while on vacation and it turned out to be amazing. Food was delicious. Somewhat quiet, dimly lit, nice little place. They surprised me with tiramisu for my birthday! Definitely recommend!
This is a very cute spot in SoHo that is at once big enough for a group and intimate enough to feel fun and charming. I only ate brunch here, but I found the food to be middling (considering the price). Pancakes were crispy but also dense and chewy. Bacon was over-crisped in parts and under-cooked in others. The coffee was very much fine. The staff were friendly and prompt. They were quick to bring anything I asked for and also to refill my coffee. The space itself is very cute and very much the SoHo vibe. There is good light through a skylight window and also a fireplace. Would recommend, just remember that you are paying for the ambience more than a superb food experience.
A few problems added up to an overall disappointing experience. I'll be the first to admit that these problems we had at brunch were not huge, but with the number of places available to eat in NYC, we'd much rather spend our time (and money) at a place that can at least get the little things right. First they sat us in the most inconvenient, in the way table, by the bathroom, even though there were other tables available. It was clear they were trying to hold those tables for parties greater than 2, but there was no one waiting for a table, and most of those tables stayed empty the entire time we were there. The next misstep was in the pacing of our meals. We hadn't even finished the appetizers we ordered to start before our main meals had arrived. There was not enough room on the table for the food and we weren't ready to eat it. As a waiter, you should know to give some time between courses so that patrons can enjoy their food and actually be ready to eat the next course when it arrives. It just felt like they were trying to rush us out, but again, there was no one waiting for a table and there were many empty tables.
Quaint scene with a fireplace on one side. Food portions were very generous. But table sizes are small so challenging to fit what you ordered on your table. Staff is plentiful and attentive. Food is good but not better than other places. Had brunch, and was satisfied overall
I've been coming here for decades. They've gotten a bit lazy with food and presentation and removed some old favorites (tarragon chicken salad!). Not what it used to be. Service was distracted and haughty. That's a bit cliché these days.
Beyond amazing Brunch spot if you are in the area. This is the place to go.
Good for groups too.
Another favorite in SoHo. We had a fantastic breakfast (Cupping Room Eggs Benedict, yum!) along with Bloody Marys. Food was delicious and all of the staff is so nice and friendly.
Jazz music was greatly appreciated. Not overly loud, definitely nice to listen too.
Food was great and so was service! Great stuff all around. Perfect happy hour specials as well which are available throughout the bar and restaurant!
Great food that was reasonably priced. Fantastic live entertainment. Very enjoyable evening
This was a great place to have a cocktail and some good comfort food! Great staff and atmosphere
I ENJOYED THE PLACE, THE SERVICE WAS THE HIGHLIGHT AND THE FOOD WAS NICE. DEFINITELY PLAN ON GOING BACK SOON.
Love this place! The waiter was prompt and attentive, the Eggs Benedict with Salmon perfectly prepared. We sat at a cosy table for 2 in a corner next to an antique stove that took off the winter chill. Wish we would have found this place sooner!
Went for brunch, Everything was basically ok. Everything arrived cold not hot and the poached eggs for everyone was overcooked.
Staff were super courteous and very accommodating with my annoying fluctuating attendee numbers. Everyone had a blast and really enjoyed the space, the baba ghanoush was probably the best i have ever had (and i have eaten a lot in my life! ha) . Cannot recommend enough! Will definitely be back.
It is a tasty and reliable weekend brunch spot. Service is quick. Food is hot and delicious. Big enough so that the wait is no too long if you do not have reservations.
A great spot for a quiet lunch. Very comfortable, and delicious vegetarian options.
Second time there and once again fantastic food and incredible bloody Mary’s
We had a special New Year’s Eve brunch and loved it. Our waiter was fab, even though he’d clearly had very little sleep, he was super helpful, patient and informative. The food was good; I had a healthier option with a very generous portion of berries and yoghurt, we all had eggs, pancakes and waffles plus celebratory bubbles. Can’t find any fault here!
Fantastic food in a great setting. Friendly staff who are very efficient
We went there for family brunch with our kids ages 4 and 8 -the food is outstanding and the cocktails delicious. Our waiter was attentive and fast. The hostess gave us a not very good table and roll her eyes she saw the kids, which us the only reason I’m not giving 5 starts. Her attitude proved unnecessary as they behave very well and we ordered 3 full entrees for the two of them.
Love the ambiance--the brick walls, wood burning stove. Love having a choice between fixed menu for Christmas and regular menu. The duck entree was superb. Friends all loved their entrees.
Christmas brunch, Bryan our server was a delight!
Great food and atmosphere
Great neighborhood place for coffee, sandwiches, drinks and appetizers! I highly recommend their veggie burger.
I have been coming here for years, mainly for brunch, though dinners have been good too. Cozy, but not lazy. The atmosphere is vibrant. The food is consistently good and the wait staff are always the best -- unique, engaging pros each and every one.
We arrived a few minutes before our third person...reservations for 3 were made. The staff refused to seat us until our third arrived. They also kept telling us that we were in the way standing. There were many empty tables and if they had seated us we would not have been in the way! Once our third person arrived (5 minutes) our waitress was very pleasant.
Excellent brunch options. Service was first class. Food delicious!
The staff was very accommodating considering I kept calling to push my time back d/t traffic. The food was hot, good portions. The one thing I would change would be to move the bathrooms away from the kitchen, yuck. Otherwise it was wonderful. Thank you.
Cupping Room Café is aimed at wealthy SoHo tourists tickled by the idea of slumming in a crummy diner, and it delivers, particularly for weekend brunch. Food is competent but crushingly ordinary, and astonishingly expensive considering how cramped and noisy the place is. Service is nonexistent: No one will offer to refill your water glass or coffee cup, or stop by to ask if you need anything. If it's cold out, and you get stuck in the smaller room on the West Broadway side, adjacent to the bathrooms and the kitchen, with dishes clattering loudly and freezing air causing shivers every few seconds when the door opens, the ordeal is particularly unpleasant.
How has this place stayed in business for forty years? Because the nearby blocks have always been something of a wasteland w/r/t restaurants. But if you walk just a couple of blocks west, you can do MUCH better.
I kept looking around at the other customers wondering if this was a giant joke. The food was SO BAD, so bland, the salad was like a side salad you get on an airplane. The eggs tasted terrible and no one at my table left happy with their meal. The only good thing about the place is the atmosphere, which is lovely. Everything else (even my latte sucked!) was miss-able. Also they don't serve soup before noon.
I always try to visit the Cupping Room on my annual trip to NYC and it never disappoints. Great food, service, and live music. Also, beautifully decorated for Christmas
A long-time favorite spot in the neighborhood. I go there often when I want to have a conversation with a dining companion.
Great ambience and thought our waiter was great. Attentive, friendly, helpful.
Great “hidden gem” vibe, but food was only so-so. Service was quick on ordering and food delivery, not so much on water refills or anything else really. Disappointed- has the makings to be something really special.
Underrated gem! Food was fantastic!
Very good to meet friends!
i had a great time with my girls at brunch there. the food was delicious, the drinks were delicious, and the staff were very friendly. we will definitely be coming back here.
Delicious brunch! Servers were really nice
Such a great time eating brunch at the Cupping Room Cafe! I had the Cupping Room Eggs Benedict! It was amazing! The fries with it gave such great flavor. I also enjoyed the Rose and Rossini beverages. We sat at the bar once we saw the cafe and had an amazing time. Andre was our bartender and took care of us. Very attentive wait staff, great food, great place!
